Capacitor in reverse - what will happen?

What happens when you connect a capacitor in reverse? When you apply reverse voltage to it? I tested this to find out.

Oh man.. third semester 3200uF cap on a 30v rail in reverse polarity - literally like a grenade going off on your face.
Naturally, i got away with cussing up a storm 😂
