JEEP KJ TRAC-LOC Differential / WK Quadra Drive II Differential / GM G80 Differential

- We start with a look at the Rear Differential in the Jeep KJ Liberty/Cherokee. Does it have a limited slip rear axle? Some do and some do not. The Trac-Loc make the KJ more capable off road. We move on to look at the Grand Cherokee Rear Differential and Electronic locking axle of the Quadra Drive II. Next a look at a broken G80 rear axle l, finally we look at a Ford 8” differential center section with a mini spool inside. Loads of gear oil fun looking at a few different Rear axle differentials I have lying around.

Great video Andy, you really know a lot about" rear ends"
Thanks for watching Robert!
Careful Robert....he might want to see yours next!!!!
@@IronHorseGarage lol Big Time! 😂😂 had a good chuckle with that.
Exploded view 👍
Those axles are exciting! You never now when or where. It made it 250,000 miles. 👍
Great video Turlo. That’s one way to oil your ratchet drop it in the bucket of oil 😂😂😂 definitely been there and done that to. See you soon 👍😎✌️
Thanks Kevin L! That ratchet still weeps gear oil but there is no rust in it! 😆
I put heavier gear oil on the old diff. Never the new diff lighter oil. First I put Slick 50 about 10 ounzes then the 85-140 gear oil. Was a mechanic for 7 years. Never lost a diff i put that mix.
I will have to remember that gear oil mix
@@TurlosGarage Slick 50 is great for manual trans and engines. I even put it on my Cherokeee 180 airplane engine. Climbs better and uses less oil. We use it in aviation a lot. Teflon.
I'm getting concerned about your rear-end fettish.......but, good stuff sir!! Almost didn't recognize you in the suit and tie!! If the axels rotate the same direction it's definitely positrac, as you found out. If it was an open diff one tire would rotate the opposite direction. Nuuce lava lamp too!!
Thanks. I learned a lot about Jeep rear ends. Still more to research.
Very well explained, I did pick up a bit of knowledge watching, ✌
Thanks for tuning in Bryan! 👍
Great info there, I was looking for this info for long now, that was enlightening
I am glad it was helpful!
IKN👍✌
Thanks for stopping in Jimmy C and Friends! 👍
@@TurlosGarage My pleasure
Very informative video buddy!
Thanks for watching!
Hey Turlo. Good video. I think. The rear end that I put in my Fargo had some sensors but I cut them off. They don't give me any problems. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
That is the way to go Andy!
Good lesson. Still get confused. Lol✌️👍
I am very confused! I have not seen a Mopar limited slip before. I think a rebuild might be in order soon.
G80 exploded view. 😂🤣😂😜
Good times! It definitely was exploded! 🤣
I learned something👍
I learned a few something’s taking the axles apart. I am surprised they went back together too. 😁👍
Good show sir😎
Thanks for tuning in Joe! 👍
Great video on rear ends.
Man that chevy was chunky in side.
Yes, it had a few issues. The carrier is almost disintegrated. Making it rain…posi parts! 😁
6:27 that’s an electric actuator that activate locker
Thanks for the info. I really want to take the axle apart to see how it works. I am afraid I may not get it back together.

Does anyone know if trac-loc differential is standard equipment on a jku sport or just on the sahara
I believe it was standard on the Sahara only and an option on other models like the Sport.
Thanks, I'm replacing spider gears, but not matching it should be an open diff. Not a trac-loc and the face of the pinion gear is scratched in (Go Oj) I bought jeep new with 26 miles this axle shouldn't be in here.
Great video, I LERND LOTS. Where are your fury friends?
I am getting ready to ship them out to help other channels. Thanks for tuning in Aussie Jas!
@@TurlosGarage Great STUFF.
Doesn't a one vs two wheel peel tell you if you have a limited slip or not? Seems like an easier way to test on it without having to crawl under your rig, lol.
In the Liberty vs Grand Cherokee video I had the Liberty on an obstacle with the right front and left rear on the ground and the other two were barley touching the ground. It would not climb up it without both rear wheels having grip. It didn’t make the video but I tried doing a burnout and it felt like only one tire spinning. I am fairly certain the diff will need new clutches. Future video idea. Thanks for watching Phil!
Sorry, bit Late on this one.
You are always right in time! 😎
does the friction modifier go into both the automatic transmission and differentials?
Just the rear differential
