The Differences Among the Glock Generations
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 гру 2022
- A Glock is a Glock and that is it at least as far as most people are concerned, but then there are these different types of Glocks and these strange add-ons to their names, like Gen 3 or Gen 4. These little things stand for the different generations.
Now, when you think of other things coming in different generations, you might know that there are actual differences between them. Not always are they enough to matter for everyone or just for you, and sometimes they simply are.

Glock is the Honda civic of guns. Simple yet reliable
seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee im not crazy everyone gets offended and josh is white and mormon i assume he would know
Which one is the honda accord?
And just like a Civic, a Glock can be totally riced out with aftermarket parts!
Which one is toyota
No. The Toyota of handguns.
Another interesting fact about the gen 5 is that the stock magazines come with an orange follower so that users can easily tell if the magazine is empty or not
Also a better coating and the "marksman barrel".
@@japaokawa yes that too
They also added more weight into the barrels by increasing the diameter. It increases recoil reduction due to more weight in front.
@@josephmartinez3451 didn't know that, thanks for the info!
@@japaokawa Also the slides are alil wider and heavier to accommodate the slightly beefier barrel thus improving recoil even more ^~^ Gotta love Glocks innovation!
I say this as a long time 1911 shooter, the Glock is a world class weapon that would be the gun I would take if my life depended on it. I liked the finger groves but not a deal breaker either way, so maybe some attention to the trigger, the rest is purely cosmetics at this point.
Pretty much.
Only gripe I have with my 1911 is the slide serrations. I have the Remington 1911, R-1 Carry.
The "dehorning" was a bit excessive.
If your hands have ANY moisture or oils on them...
...I have to carry it loaded.
Easier (and safer) than trying to load in a panic.
well you an i are in 2 different Americas, id trust 1911 over the honda glock ud trust a sanchez 380 over a glock and a 1864 colt
@@schrodingersgat4344 is it really the safest gun next to tx22 im not tryna blast my hip off
@@ProgessivesBwhitetho You won't, if you know your manual of arms. Loaded pistol is preferable to one that isn't.
No different than carrying a revolver I. Either case.
As for which is "better": Glock if you plan on beating the piss out of it. 1911 for most other situations.
Then again, what do I know. I have both, and prefer to carry my TT-33.
@@ProgessivesBwhitetho As a retired Special Forces weapons Sgt, that carried the 1911 & actually own more then a couple of dozen of them, I think I know them well. I didn't say I love the Glock more then a 1911. My statement is clear strictly driven by logic not emotion. The Glock is no beauty queen, however they are super dependable, easily serviceable & what do you think the chances are that if you had to scrounge for mags while on the run, your odds are much improved. And the non stop chatter about ammo & ballistics, you think you'll have a much easier time finding 9mm over 45 or 10mm (my favorite). There's a saying in the military "Amateurs talk tactics, professionals talk logistics". My statement was quite precise & clearly stated for a particular purpose, in the end it's a tool that you can bet your life on.
Lol that shooting grip at 6:00 hurt my soul 😂
Only for a revolver might I consider that
Yea, thats one way to lose your gun to recoil.
Gen 4 also added a dimple on the trigger bar tab that depresses the firing pin block to deep it from flexing during contact.
bruh the first sentence “the glock is a glock” holy shit that was so inspiring. this man needs a show about this meaningful, inspirational line.
edit: wow i didn’t know i would get this many likes lol

I had a Gen4 26 that I carried for a couple of years while living temporarily in VA. I LOVED that gun. It fit perfectly in my hands and I loved the grooves. I wasn't thrilled about the 26 Gen5 when I shot one.
I'm a Gen 2 man with the G27
Lol same gun??
@@user-oc8sr3ml9m Yes and no. Same caliber and configuration. The difference is the finger grooves. I prefer the groves on my hand.
There are different gen 5's. The cut out on the grip was taken away, the mags sit just a bit extended from the mag well and the smoother trigger pull without the gritty feel. Oh, and match grade barrels.
My buddy got one of the first Gen 5 model 45 caliber 9mm and his doesn’t have front slide serrations.

7:00 - This grip hurts my soul... Someone for the love of god tell this man how to hold a Glock.
Some people have "non-default" wrist anatomy. So if it is comfortable for them who are we to judge.
So it will his thimb that gets dislocated and not ours.
They never touch a weapon totally bogus.Notice they never respond to comments.
If it helps some people, I don't see the issue.
@@ColonelSanders17 it doesn't help anyone holding a gun like that lol. he's holding it wrong because he wasn't shown how to do it properly. That is 100% what is happening in this video. So please spare me the "what ifs"
Funnily enough in the airsoft world double recoil springs exist for the Hi-capa, a 2011 clone and it certainly does make the recoil smoother
People need recoil mitigation for airsoft?
@@hcctendeep7047 some airsoft guns have built-in gas-powered recoil for realism. I guess that just takes it a step further.
This si exactly the video my brain wanted to randomly see at 1:55am while trying to go to sleep. THANK YOU ❤
Gen 4 is my favorite but wasn't able to get as many as I wanted so have been forced to buy Gen 3 because I love the finger grooves. I have LONG skinny fingers and with no finger grooves it feels like I'm shooting a nerf gun with no control.
I hope the next gen takes all of the new features from Gen 5 but either brings back finger grooves or has the option for them as they are a must have for my shooting style.
very informative video. i plan to test every generation of the glock whenever i get a chance to see and feel every difference
Thank you for a well informed video.
Thank God I found you I was looking up online to know the difference and what to choose
Well done my friend. Thank you
Marksman barrel, orange follower and a change to the drop safety were 3 changes missed in this video.
They have different calibers that separates them and than you have the long slides which are cool 😎!!!

@Pham_smart11
You missed one thing in the Gen4 (Which was the sole reason I went for that rather than Gen3 back in the day): Gen4 is the first to feature a reversable mag release, making it usable for lefties. (The missing slide release is still a bummer in Gen4, but luckily that got fixed in Gen5.)
I know this isn't the most relevant comment, but I have 3 issues with glocks, the finger grooves (solved by gen 5 or by removing myself), the trigger safety (it just feels gross coming from single actions / rifles), and the grip angle. The only solution I found to changing the grip angle is to get a p80 or similar frame, and that is a whole new can of worms. I do like how glocks are either straight-forward or completely upgradable depending on the users taste.
Never remove the trigger safety or you get a Sig P320 with dropfire issues. The trigger safety was added at the last minute to the Glock bc an engineer used a blank to prove the handgun would fire when dropped to Mr Glock. It is simple inertia. The trigger weighs enough to overcome the spring and fire on its own if dropped at the correct angle from enough height.
Finger grooves, stippling etc suck if you are shooting a bunch of rounds on a flat range, but not if your hands happen to be bloody in a two way range. It just depends on what you want the tool for, target shooting games or real world.
@@mnee4922 Stippling is fine, the grip is just the wrong shape being too long front-back and too angled for me comfortably.
As for the safety, I know safety's should exist but I don't see a point in a trigger safety that prevents the trigger from being pulled unless it is pulled. I prefer a manual safety instead like the ones on hammer-fired handguns rather than striker (as nearly all brands copied Glocks double trigger safety). That's more of a comfort issue though, I'm not military or police or anything, I just like guns so I look for fun / cool over utility.
@@PlatinumKrown Grip size is subjective. If it doesnt fit you (or you just dont like it) then it doesnt fit. Ive always PREFERRED a slim grip and certain angles, but I can also use huge grips with angles I dont like on a SW Nframe or Anaconda, rifles, shotguns etc.
The "trigger safety" is all about being drop safe. The gun gets dropped and the receiver stops but the inertia of the weight of a trigger keeps it moving and overcomes the springs, as if you pulled it. The "trigger safety" has almost no weight and has almost no intertia. Gaston Glock didnt think he needed it until one of his head engineers showed him otherwise, as told to me by the primary armorer instructor while I was attending an advanced Glock armorers course.
Im also a Sig armorer and like the 320, a lot. Im also an old guy who started with a military 1911 (piece of absolute shit) but I like manual safeties like you do... so I REALLY like the mil 320s w manual safeties.
Regardless, dont remove or override the Glock TS unless you want a handgun which is NOT dropsafe (or you want to replace the entire trigger with one very lightwieght ala new P320s so it might be dropsafe though some still devate re 320).
I never liked the grip angle either
I watch this video every once in a while
I have a Glock 19 Gen 5 and absolutely love it.
Very simple design, very reliable and eats everything 9mm ammo I put in it.
G19 gen5 is my favorite Glock for sure, especially with a Holosuns SCS and Timney trigger. The G26 gen5 and G19x are great options too with G43 being the best for CC. Imo

I absolutely love Glock! I have every single caliber available all the way up to the 10mm. If there should be any further modifications, perhaps, better thicker and slicker triggers out of the box and maybe some cosmetics. Yeah. No thanks to California.
@@FranciumBoron the GEN three is still great. I plan on getting a second one whenever I can afford it. Unfortunately I had to sell mine.

Gen 5's have different barrel rifling and DLC finish too.
funny the glock crowd loves dlc and miiiiiiine cwaft grown men sick
Personally gen 3 and 4 are my favorites, I love the finish on the gen 2 slides but to me I completely hate gen 5 besides the handgrip
the hood and varrio like them 19 4s and hondas one in the same, notOGs they just like 22lr or the 10mm them 9 go through like butter, me and four of my cousins have more wounds than 20 vets thanks to 9mm the ones that are with abuela got 22s they should really move out
Why do you hate Gen 5?
@@ticktockbam their not compatible with gen 1-4, the slide is thicker, they did a bad job on the slide release on the right side, and the mag well, also gen 3 is a better price gen 5 isn’t worth it
Gen5 is way better than gen3 imo. Gen3 just feels old at this point and lacking features
@@jackmemphis777 I can admit that the Gen 3 is starting to become outdated compared to other firearms today. Even though I don’t like Gen 5, I do like that it is ambidextrous, and some of them come with cuts in the slide for optics. I also like the front serrations on the slide. But other than that I feel that Glocks in general should be less than $500
The gen 4 is where I was sold on glocks.

The 43x and 48 seem very proprietary.

Wonderful series pistol Glock
Have you made a review of the Glock 46?
there were also a bunch of pre-cursor 1911s
mag changing is not about emptying it. it is for jamming or bad sitations. switching mags is faster option
Glock 17 gen 4 is ma favorite but first one I shot was gen 3 I liked it too
Funny thing I watched your video at 1.25 speed and it sounded more normal than at normal speed lol
Very nice friend
Some gen5 have forward slide serrations, other gen5 don't have forward slide serrations.
I find it weird.
I've been thinking about the glock19x and or Glock 17
Couldn't you take the gen 5 slide and put it on a gen 4 grip if you wanted the MOS while still having the finger grooves?
The problem with good design is that improvements are hard to make.
Someone at Glock should make the finger grooves an option for Gen5 & -6 pistols
Gen 4 is the best gen of all time. Better grip texture with the finger grooves
NICE
bro u kinda sound like a tts
If Glock intends to bring back the finger grooves, they should hire guys who worked at Walther to do it.
I sometimes call this boy the clock because he's like the clock ticking means your time is up.
The Beretta with the double action hammer and double safety the open slide don't build up gun power residue in the slide or sand and dirt don't stick in the slide plus the open slide allows your barrel to cool faster instead of holding heat in the slide it self
Finaly Somone that compare Glock with an equal gun at himself
@@theepsilon-921 not really comparing nothing just talking about the Beretta just a comment not selling or marketing just talk or conversation topic for people that like firearms ect so many critics these days kinda then is funny because you get called a troll but yet wouldn't trolling go the same as if your on Facebook or any other app so basically even making videos could be trolling but no is just interesting conversation topics that some people have similar interests in. Gaston Glock is the Ferdinand Porsche of handgun styling.
The Porsche was beautiful, clean, amazingly frugal lines. No wasted curves. The Glock is pretty damned ugly. Blocky, devoid of any attractive lines.
