However, when firearams first came up they didn't pack the punch they had a century or two later. In these days it was very common for armorers to test the effectiveness of their plate by shooting it. There are lots of armor pieces still around from these times, where the armorer has done test shots on it and the plate has a sigil on it that this specific piece was able to hold a bullet. ("Beschusstest") However, technology for firearms quickly progressed and what was true in 1500 was no longer valid in 1700. Firearms became much more potent in this time and had better abilities to penetrate armor. Hence, we see a reduction in armor protection in latter times due to the progression of effectiveness of firearms.

I'm guessing it's a cheap way to attach camouflage patterns or promotion-friendly liveries that is also applicable elsewhere on the suit, similar to helmet covers. In this way, they can maximize their ability to cater to whatever requests they might get from prospective testers. And they can re-style the exterior as needed for a given trade show / exhibition.

There's a reason you only see this shit in video games. If it were affordable and practical the military would already be using them. But they would be both expensive and inefficient. Civilians never consider heat and the fatigue. Heat is an infantrymans worse enemy. Even just in training I've seen many men lose consciousness, have seizures, get brain damage etc. From heat. Almost died myself once... and that was with less shit on than this. It doesn't seem like it would be that big of a deal to Civilians but that's because Civilians never put on 3 layers of clothes and carry 100 pounds in the summer heat walk 15 miles. It feels like your internal organs are cooking inside you, one of the most unpleasant experiences of my life lol. And a decent amount do die from it. You just never hear about it

I can not see if being useful in real world battlefield where you re dealing with land mines . Then police will find it useful . It's all about cost vs what you could buy instead.

a video like this needs stats... how it acts going prone? for how long a soldier can run compare to without it? how much weight? how long it last? it is rain resistance? mud resistance? see? that is why no military would take something like this unless is like those exo from call of duty.
Neat. Looks like a Semi-Passive Exoskeleton. Good for taking extra weight & feeling like you are carrying less while doing so. Much cheaper than a fully powered model & also a lot easier to field. If the hardpoints are modular you can also change the armour pieces out easily. If they are cross compatible with standard armour is the question. This has DAP,neck guard,groin guard,a vest & plates. But not sure if it is built around being used with the exoskeleton or not. Both have advantages & disadvantages. Parts compatibility is always big,plus if they sell other standard gear they can potentially market variants of it as well for use with or without the exo. Additionally being able to use pieces of the suit with or without the exo is useful. My guess is that it would be not too hard to do unless the armour is all hard armour & needs a fixed mount. But attachment points for other gear is always appreciated.
Soldiers in recent wars barely ever died from bullets, it's usually IEDs. The current body armor we have already stops most bullets to the torso and head shots are much harder than they are on call of duty.
that is why we're investing in high grade maximum coverage body armor, and bullets on the battlefield are not the major threat, sure, but this is meant for counter terror forces, the majority of casualties are close range gunshots for those operators.
Next step is integrating these with a cache holder/loader system, I'm actually designing one right now. It holds 12 mags total and automatically reloads them when placed inside the multi-well, currently for 9mm. More ammo is good imo.
They'll eventually need to ground the weight better. An overboot/underboot. That way some of the weight is distributed thru the ground and not fully on the person and their knee joints.

The U.S. Army has tried similar things with soft and powered exos and found the straps arent gonna flex and distribute the load with the attachment method. But I guess its a start
It's actually pretty damn expensive to properly train a soldier. So unless you're gonna go Russians at bakmut stile and just send waves of convict meat shields and have the manpower reserves to do so, that's not really a viable long term strategy.

it's not meant for battle field use really. Its more for Swat type operations. for short and intense close in work.
From what I read, this is for the French GIGN, so it will be just for Urban Counter Terrorism raids and such. Not the Battlefield.
