My Blunt, as a non-religious non-denominational person who has been gifted from The Supreme Being of the God Dimension with a spirituality and analytic leaning.
Me, who is married to Hubby who early in life rejected his religious upbringing.
An upbringing where family attended church all day on Sundays plus 4 or 5 nights a week, after dinner.
A church where people spoke in tongues, threw themselves around onto the floor, and spoke of a ridiculous life after death where you jump from cloud to cloud.
Not so unexpected that he rejected religion at a young age.
God let us find each other for a reason.
So, when things in the world go relatively smoothly, religious leaders talk beautiful kindnesses, goodnesses, and I love that and I love their religions.
Then, like right now in the world, the proverbial stuff has hit the electric fan.
So yesterday I'm updating Hubby regarding Hamas and Israel.
After which, Hubby's simple dismissive reply was, "oh, all that religious stuff and hate".
Which made me think about the times during my life that I thought this would be a better world if there were no politicians, and no insurance sales people.
In view of this Hamas thing, I feel it's necessary to add religion to that list.
I would gladly give my life to insure worldwide peace, love, and kindness.
Too bad that's an unrealistic, juvenile, fairytale wish of an individual afflicted (or gifted) with arrested development.
Still, I will continue to wish for a world of peace, love, and kindness for all.
How long will heaven on earth be an improbablity given the present state of mankind's nature?

As someone from a European Christian background it saddens me to learn of the long history of persecution of Jews in Europe. My own parents have anti-semetic views, although they definately think the Holocaust was a terrible, ghastly tragedy. Its funny, because I don't think this makes them bad people... I think they have an irrational fear of Jews, but who put those ideas there?
In my opinion, all humans have a in group/out group bias- this is a natural thing. This bias is then used politically when a group is chosen for scapegoating. I myself chose to appreciate Jewish people, who have contributed so much to humanity, from religion to the arts, music and science.

"Do not kill" is an easy to understand law. It doesnt say "cut out evil" cause who is the real judge? "Eye for an eye and all the world gets blind." It doubles injustice. Peace is the way.
