4:28 if you don't want Kelvin to get stuck, you may wanna move your fire. He thinks he's sitting by it
For Virginia and Kelvin, you need to have a fire outside. They like to rest by it. Also place benches near the fire. They sit on the benches then. They won't get stuck under your base.
i gotta say how excited i am with how amazing the update was. all that done in 2 weeks is insane. imgaine this game in a year

While Kelvin is taking a break weather you tell him to or he's just tired. If you give him a bench/chair and a garden with Blueberries he won't go under your base looking for things
Kelvin isn't fixed, he still takes down the tree with your treehouse in it.
They also havent completely fixed the audio stuttering effect. Its better an less laggy but its not fixed, at least not on my friends pc anyway.
@@llamaking447 I think they accidentally created more problems than they fixed - but it's still early access, plenty of time to correct it.

Idk if you've been told this yet, but you can now fill in those empty triangles on your bases roof areas
I am sure someone suggested this already, but what about placing some stick spikes that turn towards your base.. Like place them between the existing stick spikes, and your kill zone?. That way, the enemies might get hurt/killed on the spikes when you try to lure them to your kill zone.
I think the devs should add a wire coat hanger.
... you know, to use against the babies
Poor Kelvin and Virginia, you want them to help and work for you but you don't feed them or give them a fire to warm up. LOL
Yeah, my Virginia was completely glitched. I could not find her anywhere, but after the update, she came back!
You should give shotgun to virginia. Just remember to dismantle any atrachments before giving it to her. You can always get another shotguns, it's always respawn. Virginia is more badass with shotgun. And dont forget to go get a revolver for yourself too
For preventing Virginia weapon missing bug. after you give her shotgun, save your game, close the game entirely. Run it back, and load your save before you continuing
Some planter boxes with berries will help Kelvin and Virginia with food since that seems to be what they forage for.
Kage...I am no expert but I know that in programming you need to set coordinates or an object as a gathering place. Knowing this it would make sense that Kelvin would rest at a particular place. Namely the campfire. You placed the campfire on the first floor of your base. So Kelvin is going as close as he can. Which means under your base. This means he can get stuck. A simple solution would be to just move the campfire. Just a suggestion.
I just hope the one of the major updates brings the solar panels and maybe some lightbulbs so that you can string up wires in your base and put light bulbs on the ceiling for better lighting.
i think it would be cool to make small houses for Kevin and the girl. i know they wouldn't use it so yea it would be pointless, but i personally think that would be nice small little additions to your base camp. Along with little stuff in them.
9:57 When you put the log down and it won't go into the ground it's because one or more of the adjacent logs needs repairing. Took me a while to figure that out. Or...you could just remove them and reset them as you appear to be doing.
You can also place sticks close to your wall either side of your gates and make them into spikes. They go through your walls to help stop the cannibals beating on your outside wall. I also have set up logs outside the gates and setup stick spikes there leaving a small way to get into my base. It really slows them down/kills them. To my knowledge you cant craft the glider or put it in your backpack. You can find them in the world. You can run with them like the cart in no one survived though, to take them back to a high point to jump off again.
Kelvin can't/won't go inside your house. Your fire is right above where he is relaxing. Move your fire.
4:40 I found the hang glider up on the mountain while wondering around. Apparently you just have to find and use it. Can't back pack it and I think it resets to its original location when you log out. I tried to use it and I fell through the mountain and underneath. I was then apparently swimming.. Well done devs...lol. Had to log out. I moved on...I'll try it some other time.
15:30 You can just "Kobe" the log from outside and the log will automatically slide into the log holder.
Hello from canada. I got a suggestion. I think, Guns Nerd And Steel is the first person who got the idea of a spiked log fence to protect from enemies going through the entrance and attacking you in your base. I can not explain how to do it but the simplest thing I can say is put full logs horizontal, and then place quarter logs at the ends of each logs so it is like a small fence then put 1 row of spikes on the top of the logs ,and the 2nd row of spikes on the ground behind the bottom logs. I am sorry for the bad explanation it would be wise to watch guns nerd and Steel's video
i had to destroy the fish trap and build a new one for it to finally work.
it is tedious but if you tighten up your spikes you'll stop more of them. plus you can spike the inside wall and when struck outward will clip through the wall. it kills as far as tightening up the spikes goes plant spike plant spike, hot keys speed it up. you dont have to do anything just observations i have experienced and wanted to share.
8:18 I gave her the pistol and the shotgun. I went and got my own afterwards. She wields them both and alternates between the two. She's a freakin bad **s with both guns.

lights are much brighter than the single skull lights, well worth using
yet another good videosmall suggestion for the water issue: all locations respawn loot everytime you log in so why not collect a load of printer resin and craft a load of water bottles to keep at base. at least till the rain catchers get added, which may be the next update as they do plan to implement them soon. that's providing you can store them on the shelves too.
Log holders could be very useful in The Forest as you could put them onto the roof of the house boat.
That made the house boat act like some kind of super log sled that could hold up to 300 logs (if you exploited the fact that you could build stuff overlapping each other).
I do wish they had some sort of rifle that you could get attachments for. Preferably a semi-auto one. Wish they made it so you could make traps using the C4, basically improvised landmines or claymores. There's a lot of ways they could utilize the explosives more tbh. A large slingshot or something to launch grenades and molotovs further and more accurately. Some more primitive defense devices such as the ol' log on a rope with a tripwire and it smashes into whoever steps on it, same concept with rocks, punji stick pits, small peep holes in walls to shoot through or stab with the spear. Would be sweet if they let you make your own gunpowder and be able to reload spent shotgun shells. There's so many possibilities with this game. And how come you can't restore those golf carts and get them working?
On the 2nd floor try putting the strut on the far ends by the outer wall. And you should be able to take out the middle supports.
But you will still need the center supports (the 2 that hold up the flat piece of roof)
kage you need walk ways around the top of your walls.. just built platforms in all 4 corners then take a peace of rope

You should build a path to fish trap and build more fish trap also
I don't know if you've considered this, but if not, you should really set up a zip line system to get you from your base to the river where your fish trap is. You can collect fish and refill your canteen in less than 1/4 of the time it takes you to run over there now. You could probably do it with just 2 or 3 lines from your base.
Kelvin goes underneath the building because the fireplace is above that one spot and he takes a break at the fireplace and he doesn't know hot to get into the house very well
When trying to take the supports out at 27:33 the struts by the window that are part of the ceiling wasn't connected to help support the ones you tried to remove
Use the cross on the creatures, it burns, and stuns them.
Can you give Virginia more than one pistol?
If you don't want Kelvin go under your base just place a row of logs around the perimeter of your house between the pillars.
You know you don't need to look at the log holder to place logs in it, right? Just throw the logs a bit over the holders and they'll go in automatically.
No you can't and you yourself can't carry more than one handgun or shotgun, there's not even a weapon mount system to store some at base with supplies.

@@sic22l When you open up her backpack to get her stuff there is only a silhouette for a single handgun, shotgun and GPS tracker. No matter what you do you cannot give her a second handgun.
If we were able to transfer from our inventory directly to her hands we could probably do it ;but not the way it is currently.
You don't make the hang glider, you find it at the top of the mountain at a campsite and glide down. It seems to respawn almost immediately after you take it, so you can fly again the next time you go up there.

You should call your Killzone the gauntlet
Crouch and stab the water to clean your weapons.
Can you fill a canteen. Place on a shelf. Make another canteen. Repeat?
They still haven't fixed the issue where Virginia will wander around 20 miles away after she's been with you in an area for a bit..... it takes a solid 10-15 minutes to coax her to follow you back to your base. Total PITA. I thought for sure they said they were fixing that......
Also, the best way to keep everything and everybody from getting under your base and getting stuck, is to build a string of logs along the whole base around the house, starting from 1 corner angle it down, then build it along from there. Then you have to put planks down basically making a ramp along the whole outside of the house. All the way around. Did this to mine and they quit glitching under it. Now they just go up on the ramps until they get bored and go back to wandering around elsewhere. Same for enemies. No more annoying anything under my base.

Building in this game looks pretty neat and a lot easier than building in FO76. In that game nothing works right ever.
23:42 Kage dont you kinda build that way in 7 days? I swear i used to watch you meticulously build out your horde bases with wooden frames to make an outline before upgrading them for xp hahaha
The reason you cant remove the post in your house is because you have support beams criss crossing, place only support beams either front ot back or side to side not both. Plus it saves a tonne of logs.
At 20:30 I wish my Kelvin would do that. I tell him to fill log holders and he sits down by the fire after getting 1 log..
If he hardly does a thing before sitting down, it normally means his stamina is low and needs rest. Hes not perfect for sure and does seem to vary between playthroughs. Hes pretty awesome on my play through but in my co-op game hes actually very unresponsive most of the time.

If you can't move a log . It might be damaged. Try repairing it.
From what I've seen I don't think the fishing traps work in areas without fish

He would have to rebuild the entire base to make that happen because he doesn’t have the supports running along the ground.

I dont think so, there are some things you cant store on shelves like the 3d printer cartridges.
Pretty sure I stored a couple on my shelves, I'll check my bases next time I log in. You can definitely store 3d printed items like arrows, grappling hooks and even printer cartridges.

It would be great if you would sleep at night because trying to watch you play at night really sucks. It's really hard to see for the viewing audience. I know it's not as bad for you playing, but I generally just skip through the parts where you play at night. I understand in situations where you get an attack at your base, so that's obviously out of your control. But generally, if you sleep any time after 1800, it will be light when you wake up.

So many great things.. why did they have to vamp the camp fire, They made it last 1 minute, 2 with the added wood? WHY!!! It Burns out so fast now you have to KEEP lighting it to cook Fish now. And the small meat from small animals, seems like it Burns so fast.. Immersion RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW for me... died twice now as I was cutting down a tree as well? Never had that happen!!! Trees Fight back??????? LMAO!!!
