Congrats on achieving the worlds first semi-practical chainsword! Its a long way off from being battle-ready, with all the exposed wiring, bare metal shaft and the chain ready to fly off in your face at any moment, but its one hell of a lot further than other attempts i've seen.... *looking at you, Man At Arms*
I realize you probably scrap this and re-use the components fairly quickly, but i'd love to see a Mark 2 version of this sometime.
is that a terry practhett referance
Mk2 powered by turbojet engine xD
Man at arms made theirs to actually look like one in Warhammer 40K, including it's ridiculous scale as if a space marine was holding it
No kid this is just a pole saw . Your local hardware store home Depot a in America or Lowe's or even Walmart what up to 10 inch blades all he did was make the bar longer yes it's called a bar that the chain runs on.. it's nothing special and the chain won't fly off.. you see that little screw underneath the plastic shield at the beginning of the bar that's called a tensioner.. it keeps the chain tight and it also has teeth that runs in a track in the center of the bar... But hey you wanted to sound smart... Just didn't
@@jthrasher47 I'm aware its a polesaw. What he did was A: attach a longer bar, B: attach a more powerful motor (More torgue) and C: shift the center of gravity to balance it, rather than having all the weight out in front.
I may not have been too precise in my wording, but i didn't sound like an ass like you just did.
Nice chain-sword Mk.1, next step in a future video should be making it in the style you and many of us envisioned it; 40K-style!
It should be possible to slide a smaller electrical engine into the pole for direct drive and with a slightly smaller engine the weight of the battery and motor might make it almost one-handed depending on the effect and running time you expect.
I feel like he could use grass trimmer maybe, and while hes at it draw a bunch of Aquilas on it lol
My brother, the emperor is proud of your work
I like the fact that he basically showed a Warhammer chainsword at the start, and picked it apart then made a weapon that would make Constantine Valdor proud
The tiny chainsaw on my polesaw scares the absolute hell out of me, this thing is one of the scariest things I have ever seen you make Integza. Please be careful, I like watching your videos.
Man literally just homebrewed Satan's polesaw.
Hold on though... Replace the dial with a pressure sensitive trigger so the power cuts if you drop it. Also, add electric breaking so as soon as the trigger is key off it stops moving.
@@theconqueringenigma Still no chainguard so when the chain breaks and whips back he loses his fingers
@@flynn5869 integza had already built a jet engine before, actually he’s built like 2 or 3
Yeah I cringed hard at the thought of the chain coming off.. pretty risky this one, lots of ways it could have gone badly wrong, quite easily, imo
This has been the best chainsword build I have seen on UA-cam. It actually works. The only downside is it doesn't make the sound, but who cares when it takes heads off with ease and cuts a skull open like it was a loaf of bread?
The "Safety Third" was fantastic at the end. I loved this vid, stay great Integza!
Safety First
...from the end
Topic Suggestion: try to use a pulse jet engine to create a rotating detonation wave inside of your turbine engine’s combustion chamber
Thoughts: use regular turbine to initiate airflow, once proper airflow is reached, turn off (turbine fuel) and use pulse jet to induce the rotating detonation wave.
It might work. Thoughts?
imagine how ancient sword experts would react to a monstrosity like this
They would either ask "Why is it so slow?" or "Why is it so loud?"

They would slap the currency of their time on the table and say: we take alot
They would be headless before forming the question
Most of sword UA-camrs are aware of 40k and made videos about chainswords
Integza is a really bright guy and still decided to go face the apocalypse wearing white pants. He's unstoppable.
Edit: Tomatoes are disgusting!
well in a zombie apocalypse most clothes would be brown from a lot of blood
aaah are his sisters still around? he was talkig a lot to these dummies lately!
Ha...didn't think about that till you said it...funny.... He also didn't think about charging his chain saw battery out in the field.

Gotta look good when slicing zombies in half.
There, nailied it.
It's a French thing u wouldn't get it.
That was unexpectedly awesome. Never saw someone cutting a head in half vertically with a chainsaw being so wholesome!
Hum... I honestly didn't expect it to work THAT well. These kind of chainswords tend to get stuck and break, however you did give it a lot more of a swing than other content creators and it still worked. Plus, you managed to make it all into a pretty compact design, more reminiscent of a pole arm than a sword to me, which is great. I know it's a hell to build these monsters, but I'd really love to see some abusive testing, maybe on some tougher version.
Chainswords look like fun. Also, it would be epic to see you on the safety third podcast!!!
With a loose tie so close to a belt directly linked to a chainsaw (see 9:20 ) , he would be at home in this podcast !
Heck yeah. I wan't to see William Osman's reaction to this. Hear he has some trees that need to be cut down.
I am horrified by your lack of safety procedures when testing this thing. That said....REALLY freaking cool project, and highly effective! Well done!
Hes wearing an Integza safety tie :)
Why would you need a dead man switch if you're not dead. duh.
I was constantly thinking about how long it took to turn on, and therefore how long it would take to turn off if something went wrong... glad you're ok Integza!

Really cool idea for the apocalypse. I noticed that while you were running it, the chain was throwing sparks. Be nice to see a bar lube tank be installed on it so the chain doesn't lock up. Also, adding something to tell you how much battery life you have left.
It looked as if the chain was running backwards too.
I think there was a small one attached, they usually are on pole saws. I'm guessing he didn't fill it.
@MillennialMeltdown oh good catch, he might have been testing it upside down on the bench tho, I imagine when holding it the heavy battery and such would naturally flip down (the chain itself is going the right way).
Chainsaws are terrifying as it is, this is beyond scary
@Don't Read My Profile Picture Ok, thanks for the heads up. I won't read anything.

@@de0509 That reminded me of that one OSHA video of a man vs an industrial lathe...
Thanks I hate it..
That design needs a fast way to turn the motor off ASAP.
Jesus... This is sooo fucking dangerous. Hahahaha.
I think it's been discussed before, but the most ideal form of offensive chainsaw would be a chainsaw spear. Long pole to put the chainsaw bits far away and allow the user to adjust their grip to change the weight distribution as needed
There's a century-old sci-fi novel called 'The Nightlands' by Hope Hodgson. The ideal weapon in that verse is a plasma-powered buzzsaw polearm. It inspired the 'Pizza Cutter' from Bloodborne.
This is the best engineered chainsword I've seen, you are amazing.
To make this perfect I would:
Cover half the chain to make the sword single edge, it makes it safer and would help to keep the chain from jumping of the sword.
Align the batteries length wise, it brings the centre of gravity up closer to the centre of the weapon.
Reinforce the pole and make it longer, 75 cm motor and battery, 75 cm handle, 100cm edge.
It would be more of a spear/polearm but it would be the perfect weapon:
A bit longer and heavier but easier to use and less likely to break.
So we are headed towards the 40K future then? And Integza is the inventor of the first prototype chain swords? I didn't know I was living in the golden age/dark age of technology.
Soon we will conquer the galaxy, and then lost it to never get it all back again
FOR THE GOD EMPEROR
you're running it upside down or backwards. the lower part of the blade should have the chain drag the machine away from you, not towards you, this is a safety thing so that if the blade snatches on anything the blade shouldn't jump towards you. nice item, stay relatively safe.
What he is doing would be nothing different than using the top of the saw to make an undercut. Doing it this way would actually help spray the hypothetical zombie blood away from you not towards you and in your face.
The lack of safety stops is absurdly unsafe.
@@deepmeaningsdeepmountains3604 He'll figure that out around the same time he discovers the need for bar oil.
@smc you saw the fireworks too 🤣

Hey Integza! Great video as always! Your chainsword looks sick and definitely the best one I've seen on youtube so far. As a fellow man of science, I just wanted to point out a couple details though that may help make it a little better!
#1.) I noticed that your chain was throwing sparks earlier in the video, for this you'd want to attach a bar oil tank at the base of the chainsaw blade, it'll keep things smooth and prevent chain lockup.
#2.) Your chain was on backwards! While it'll still cut "fleshy" things with ease, eventually in the midst of a zombie apocalypse it'll end up dulling the chain super quick with all that bone. A good way to remember how it goes on is that the little triangles on the chain (not the blades themselves) need to be facing out towards the end of the bar, so the rounded edge is pointing towards what you want to cut
The chain wasn’t backwards, the bar was just upside down If you watch when he cuts the fruit you can see the chain is spinning in the right direction for the teeth.

12:33 Integza is a lean, pristine, mean, Zombie killing MACHINE!
The nitro engine uses spring clutches . You need to pull the throttle to move the clutch bell (the gear on the front)
It would need somemore gear reduction to move that saw blade and not burn up the clutch. The clutch is tiny, it can't transmit much torque.
The electric motor worked out much better.
Just keep making the videos Joel. That has got to be the best idea yet. On a more serious note since you vid about momentum up till this one we can see how much you have progressed. I am a retired engineer and can appreciate the work you do to design and execute your work.

Was anyone else terrified of kickback because the blade was rotating opposite of a normal chainsaw?
I was more worried about the chain snapping, since its meant to be eased through something and not used like a hammer. no guard and reversed chain means a snapped chain will have the reach and direction to slap him in the face.
@@jasonthegreat7999 My toes curled everytime he hammered the wood with chainsaw, and there's no dead mans switch either... It's probably one of the most dangerous things I've seen someone build tbh

@@fiery_transition I mean, its par for the course. Dude builds rockets and sets them off in his house. The saw is cool and all, but i would have been wearing some safety gear, and maybe not putting my face right next to it while its running. Mind you, I work with dangerous tools for a living, and I've seen what they can do when things go wrong.
@@jasonthegreat7999 While I mostly work with non lethal mechanical things, I have, like you, experienced being near people having accidents, and things can go wrong fast, a few seconds of inattention, a reflexive movement, etc, and you have an injury for life or worse, die. I would say, I would much prefer setting fire to small model rockets which are strapped to something, with a limited controled fuel source, with fuel, forces etc, roughly calculated, and getting some distance, than handle a chainsaw like that next to my soft squishy body. In my mind, the variables of risk are much more accounted for, with the rockets.
i think you should put some sort of safety trigger so that if you remove your hands from the handle you can immediately stop the chainsword.
I half expected Integza's zombie apocalypse plan to be: "Escape the earth in a 3d printed rocket."
Make a thruster which will run on hydrogen and oxygen generated from hydrolysis of water.👍
I've discovered that pine logs make the ideal hybrid rocket fuel. I'd like to see you experiment with that, it's quite amazing really.
Can you elaborate please?
@@ElementalcraftStudios Yes, I made small hybrid rockets (see Google if unfamiliar) on a test stand. I tested a variety of solid fuels, and pine wood was the most energetic by far.
@@ProlificInvention Huh, cool.
Suggestion: an old-school hockey (safety) mask would make a brilliant addition to your fancy appearance!
Awesome idea and build! Keeping with the zombie killing theme, an idea I had was for a pole weapon (can't let them zombies get close), that when the tip is stabbed into a zombie (head or body) would trigger the injection of a compressed gas into the area of the body. Which could, in theory act like over filling a balloon, resulting the explosion of the body area. Or at least in an enclosed are like the skull, everything inside would be well blended.
That's pretty awesome! Though one thing you might consider in the way of upgrades is some kind of squeeze trigger rather than a knob, that way you don't have to manually adjust the knob to turn it on and if you drop it it will turn itself off rather than having to try to wrangle an uncontrolled chainsaw.
You should make this into a series creating Zombie Apocalypse survival gadgets!! 😂

Integza with "blood" on those clothes kinda gives that casual zombie hunter vibe, and I like it.
I foresee a new side quest called "Gentleman Slayer" where you kill a unique zombie for a dapper gentleman. the zombie would look bulbous and red and a metal version of the theme from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes would play in the background. once victorious, you get the schematic for his weapon: the Chainsword!
Out of every single video this guy created this has to be the most metal literally sawing through a accurate re-creation of a human skull with a chainsaw sword with chunks of the accurate re-creation of the brain and blood flying everywhere
Video idea: continuing in the theme of making cutting objects but also keeping kinda in the theme of your normal videos: make a water jet cutter. You can test different nozzels with 3D printing and buy something like a hand with this ballistic gel to test it (and also tomatos, of course)
Pls don't fall for this it's a scam from a guy in nigeria
new weapon unlocked - chainsword..
video idea : build a 3d printed jet engine with cryogenic cooling(you can make that by putting an copper wire coiled around the engine into the outlet of a fire extinguisher) or you can do it by coiling the fuel tube with any conductive metal around the engine(as the temperature of propane inside the can is very low.
Best meele weapon for zombie apocalypse is thespear due to accessibility and disposability, also lets you keep distance. But if you want to go fancy you may use poleaxe. There's spear part in it which is good, also it has axe blade for slashing and also transverse spike for scull piercing.

You should add the combustion stage if you want thrust. This type of fan is basically a compressor that creates high pressure air not necessarily high volume which I think is likely the issue you are seeing. I would also suggest looking into turbocharger geometry and giving that a try. Finally you might not be getting enough RPMs to get the results you want. A turbocharger can spin at speeds over 100,000 RPM so you might need a gearbox or something to increase the rpm to a sufficient speed.
This was the coolest thing I've seen all day, the vertical cut on the ballistic dummy was LOVELY 👁👄👁
I think in future video you should build something powered by this little 2 stroke engine. And maybe somehow upgrade it? Or make a hybrid vehicle that uses this engine, a DC motor and and somehow regenerates power?
We all know you can do it man, and remember

something to note, im fairly certain that chain was self distructing at 10:10 and also you had the chain on backwards and the saw running the wrong way

Video idea for March... It's international women's day on the 8th of March.
I assume, since you're into rockets, that you're also into planes. Build a kind of 1920's reconnaissance style plane (like a Caudron G3) to honor Milú Sá Teixeira (the first female pilot in Portugal to get a license). You could make it electric or use that RC engine you didn't get to use for this project? Tom Stanton may be able to assist as well!
Video Idea: I would love to see you come up with your own design for an engine. I think you have learned a lot from recreating different unique engines but if you were to build one completely from scratch yourself how would you do it?
Chainsaws were originally invented to cut through bone during autopsies and childbirth so it makes a large amount of sense for it to be used as a zombie slaying weapon!
Since the chainsaw isn't used for heavy cuts through wood you're probably fine without an automatic oiler but it's definitely a good idea to manually oil it before each use. (You can see sparks coming off it just free spinning)
You had me very nervous with the fingers and the cutting.... Your a mad scientist! Love it!

This video has been out for a day now, so I'm sure that I'm not the first person to mention it, but I'm glad you are still alive and have all your fingers.
This project was horrific. So, so many potential injury sources on this one, even before we get to the chainsaw which ups the ante from burns and finger mutilation all the way to brutal and bloody death. "Safety Third" is meant to be a joking jab at worry warts like myself, not a manual for how to run your projects 😕
We enjoy your mad science and crazy creations, but I feel confident in saying that we'd all rather not see a video by your sister informing us that you are in the hospital because you dropped a running chain sword and sliced off your foot.
Agree, can't even watch this. Had to look at pictures of what can happen as a chain break, for my license. It really motivates you to wear the full gear when working with a chainsaw. Sorry but this video is just a really bad idea. This will kill people if they try it themself.
We'd not see? You'd. This was a great creation, and he's okay. He knows what he's doing, have some faith
@@masonwoertink2751 No. This was really dangerous. There is a reason a regular chainsaw stops if you dont push the button, on some models you even have to use two buttons. There was no safety involved in this. The attachment he used for the chain was designed for a much smaller blade and less powerfull engine. Also the only control for the chainsaw was a dial, no bdeadman switch at all. Then the camera man at 14:43, if he had slipped to his left, that guy could be dead within 1 second.
Chainsaws are incredible dangerous and can amputate a leg or arm in less then half a second.
@@masonwoertink2751 He is okay, and I am thankful for that, because he clearly has no idea what he is doing.
His motor is not very secure, it could rip free and go flying. The belt from the motor to the drive shaft is exposed, his fingers or clothing could be caught in it and mangled. His switch requires a free hand to turn on, adjust or turn off, so he's only got one hand holding the shaft of the saw which is unwieldy and unpredictable and could pull itself out of his hand easily. He has no safety cut off switch on the saw to turn it off if he drops it so it would keep running if he lost control of it. His chain was running backwards, so if it binds, it would throw the saw towards his body, rather than away. He has no lubricant for the chain, which quickly causes substantial wear, leading to unpredictable part failure which could be dangerous in a number of ways depending on what failed first. He was wearing an unrestrained tie while operating a device with multiple exposed, high torque, moving parts, it could have been caught in any of them and pulled his face into whatever part caught it. Last (that I noticed anyways, maybe there's more) but certainly not least, he was swinging a running chainsaw around on a long pole with little regard for where the blade was or what it contacted.
I don't say all this to degrade him, he is a very talented maker and does have a lot of expertise and experience making some pretty awesome stuff, but even the best, most creative person on earth can still have gaps in their knowledge. It is very clear that he has not been taught how to safely operate a chainsaw and he did not put very much thought into the safe operation of this device. I am glad that he and his camera operator are okay, but this project was absurdly dangerous and it was pure luck and happenstance that one of them wasn't seriously injured or even killed.
I also don't write this to degrade you. I would guess that you also have never used or never been taught how to safely use a chainsaw so please take this as informative rather than derogatory. I know it seems like a bit of a rant, but you don't get a second chance when it comes to issues like this, so I'd rather be a bit harsh and risk stepping on toes than risk having someone be badly injured because I assumed they knew what they were doing.
@@resurgam_b7 You should make a video pointing out all the dangerous parts. I actually enjoyed your analysis and didn't realise how dangerous it was when watching. I'd love to see a video where you point out all the problems in this video.

I see it coming: One day, Integza is going to get one of these markforge printers and does a space marine style chainsword printed in metal.
A propos safety third: an improvement for this one would definitely be a safety grip that, when letting go of it, stops the chainsaw. Plus some protective sheet on the back of the sword that keeps the chain from flying towards the user when the chain breaks.😁
Ya, I was cringing pretty hard during a lot of those shots knowing how F'd he'd be if he got kickback or a chain break
Two normally open switches connected in series with the power source - one switch for each hand - is all it would take.
@@stevebabiak6997 It's maybe not quite that simple. To make it safe enough to somewhat meet chainsaw sfety regulations, breaking the switch/es must cause the chain to do a full stop. Of course for such a thing to work, contrary to gas driven chainsaws this one may not need a brake+decoupling mechanism - a controller steering a sensor-controlled electric motor should do the trick :)

This is awesome! You're a true genius, I came for the printer long ago, but I stayed bcs of your ingenuity!
Next time I would love to see one of your rocket engines fly, preferably with some control of the flight!
15:13 Integza literally just gave us character motive to kill the gun devil
Nice try
Integza gives us the the perfect balance of destruction and comedy. 💪
You should make a liquid nitrogen + boiling water propelled rocket engine or kind of reaction control system / RCS kind of like in this video! ua-cam.com/video/1a1iHUd_14Q/v-deo.html
I love the channel and the content. But please Integza, install a safety switch in case something should go wrong. Maybe a momentary switch in the battery's wire that has to be held down to keep the connection. That way if the saw breaks or you drop it the power connection is broken and the saw stops. Just a suggestion. I've been watching your channel for years and hope to continue watching for many more :).
I would be so afraid of the chain snapping. You can see sparks flying, so maybe the lubrication doesn't work properly either
Now with 100% more blood than expected!
