Skin on Skin Drums were custom made in Downtown Brooklyn on Smith st. before Jay moved a couple of times . I remember as a kid walking past his shop and seeing the Skins for the drums hanging in the window . Wish I knew then what I know now , wish I'd bought a pair of those .
Facts! I didn’t know back then what we had, right in our backyard! He was so cool to us when we would look around at the drums.
Thank you for the tour. Every drum sounded good - every one of them has a whole range of ways to shine under the right hands (and the left ones, both).
i just got 4 ossi percission drums about 3 months ago , i love em ..really satisfied , well built - n sound great !..all these drums on the video sound awesome maestro eric , thank you brotha !
Awesome to hear them all, it would’ve been interesting to add some volcano percussion, some original Gon Bops and some park palisades !
Volcano website has sound samples
Thank you, sir, I really appreciate the time. It's been a long time since my hands have touched any skins, God bless you.
I like the Ossi set. These drums are very beautiful !!
Eric, once again you come through! These have to be THE conga comparison videos (assuming the second is as good) since you seem to have most of the classics in one place. Thank you for doing this, and thank Francis for proving the drums and place for you to shoot these!
I love the PM’s but they are all great.I have three Mopercs Club Salsa .I love them.🪘❤️
Wow, thank you for doing this! What a treat, definitely going into my favorites folder. Sounded great in the car, can’t wait to listen to this in my headphones before I go to sleep every night❤❤
I play a set of Oak congas from Valje drums out of Los Angeles. Tom Flores was the builder of these drums. They were made in the early 1970's. The tumba head is mule skin and the conga and Quinto are deer skin.
Enjoy to see you playing and loving all these different drums!
The Mopercs sound really good. Not just because I own a set, but I also liked the SOS. Jay was so patient with me and my buddy when we would go to his first location in Brooklyn. We would touch the drums and we were in awe when we read the names of the artists that were on the tags! This was a very interesting video!
All amazing but the PM’s are my personal favorites. Have to add that I love my ash Moperc bongos. They crack!
like hearing the different tones.. nice
Woooooow the sound is amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Very nice Mr Perez. I really like the tonal quality of the SOS. Thank you again for the education. Peace
All of Them and The Player created the magic sounds! To me PM Pepperwood are very distictive sound!! Mopercs are Masterpiece!!
I did not know the brand Ossi. I looked their site. Gorgeous but expensive … Hand made !
I would like to get them !
I don’t think the intent of the comparison is to provide a scientific explanation of the differences between all but rather to give an overall impression of each brand. Excellent job in doing that. Having said that, I am curious to hear/see a comparison of a single drum, equal in size, played to the same pattern, and measured from the same mic distance with visual recording graphics to really tell. I love the tonal of the Junior and Moperc but it doesn’t quite have the overtone as others. Really love the vid! Keep up the great work.
My only experience was with oak LPs and mahogany Gon Bops. But cut my teeth on Fiberglass LPs back in 1971 made in Palisaides Park NY. Back in the day I had called Junior about a set, and he had stopped making them. But he took my contact info in case he would begin again. He got back to me about a year later or so to see if I was still interested, unfortunately I was no longer in the market. These instruments are beautiful and enjoyable. They are for work and for play, and are as much a work of art as a way to earn a living. Nice video.
I liked it the way you 13 & 14 a lot and the last Mopercs
Miss Jay used to hang in the store he was the best along with Cali in the Bronx....Jay used to tell me how Ray Barreto liked thick skins!! and how he would try to convince him to switch...
I have play Hycook. Tywan oak. Very heavy work and I love, love them. Joseph Conway. Eric you are the man
I'll take the junior and the 93 percs please! Thank you!
Superb
I think the PM’s have the edge!!❤️👍🪘
Me gusta tocar congas quisiera tener una de esas congas es vonito
Bendiciones mi hermano, muy buena infornacion. Saludos desde Orlando Fl.
Moperc it's a incredible drum if I would choose my drum will be this brand is like one of the most amazing guality of material just how it's made it's exsisting that such a clean clear tones can be played with not so much of a struggle to find those tones that it's needed from a drum that can provide you with a rich sound and garanty you to have these tone for life ?for definitely it can be the drum needed in a band or studio recording but before me personally I would take these drum play them first in a jungle outside nature then bring them in a studio recording but that's just me 😂 I'm opinion on these drums clean easy Brite sound that can't be found in Many other conga brands!!
Éric ,
Please make a video to explain the pattern you play with the Moperc drums at the end. Independance !
I'd like to know your opinion about the tonal qualities of solid shells vs staved shells.
Thanks to you and Moperc for sharing. Forgive me; wasn't there an single ISLA requinto in the room? I was hoping to hear your "joyful noise" on that drum.
~peace
Are the PMs for sale🤔
Junior and Skin on Skin, the best ever.
for me its a toss up between the Mopercs and the Ossi's
Wouldve been nice to have them close miced as well to hear those low bass tones. I know those SOS have a very nice one. .
There's a mic on the floor for bass only.
Bonitas con gas quisiera tener una
Sadly even with headphones on difficult to hear the differences between these drums. I would suggest maybe better recording mics. Not meant to be critical -only helpful.
We use top-quality microphones at Moperc studio, a matched pair of KSM-141 and a Beta 91A go into a decent Apollo interface. What headphones are you using?
All sounded great to me. Creo que es el Indio y no la flecha.
Jose, in this case I think it’s both.
Just missing Timbas ismael.
And many mores ! Papo del Valle, Mamey, Pablo, Manito, etc...
Gon bops... valje....@@franafrokan
