This is amazing, anyone who finds this "not up to par" takes too much for granted. The work and technology that goes into this work is ground breaking, Those same trolls who thumbs down this are the same people who are pissed when they lose a cell phone connection without realizing how amazing it is to be able to talk to anyone anywhere from a device smaller than a pack of cigs.
"Too much this, too much that" Jeez, this is actually amazing. It's not like they grabbed some motion capture footage and played it. This is simulated and rendered in real time. Built from the ground up. That... Is amazing.
Very awesome... ! As far as "head rendering" goes, the following big obstacle is hair rendering... for sure it's just question of time. Waiting for the next demo video / platform!
The amount of RAM does not equal pure power/speed though. It does ensure more information can be loaded and thus better resolution for the textures, bigger maps, bigger environments, more complex scenes and gameplay, but it's all up to the actual game developers to make use of it, else it doesn't have much of a passive benefit like a higher clocked CPU might have. Kepler GPUs are much more capable as the ones used in the Xbox One and PS4, which are low-power AMD APUs.
This is fucking impressive stuff. give it 4 more years and we have smart devices that are more capable graphically then consoles and probably pc's too..
Consoles are AMD trash, so yeah maybe. But since most PC's and tablets are using the same scalable architecture an Nvidia Ge Force GPU will always have better performance.
ARM has huge potential to grow and with the right GPGPU it can kick some serious ass not just on mobile, but PC and mostly servers level! Nvidia realized that with Tegra long time ago and now AMD think this way as well. SOC can do a lot of work and is damn efficient, all u need is to be supported which is happening! Go ARM, go Tegra, go SOC!!
What we see here is a basic AI interface for our Tablets. I have an EVA for my AI on my TF700T using a Tegra 3 as opposed to an Ira using a Tegra 4 Tablet. I am hoping that the EVA evolves to an Ira level.
He looks very innocent for some reason, also his smile is weird, the animation needs work before he passes as a real person but mind blown, the head looks more life like then anything I have seen even better then pre-animated stuff.
Nvidia should make a console with project logan since it will be plugged into the wall which means that they can power project logan up to its full potential
It can scale from ~1w up to apparently about 20w, where it competes with console level graphics. At the standard 2w it will be a bit less powerful than the A6X, I think they said it takes 2.3w to match that, or about 1w to match the ipad 4's gpu. This is really kinda a shame to not beat the A6X in a typical configuration (as listed on their slide), because the current Tegra 4 can best the A6X, even if it is pulling ~7w to do it.
Last time i checked the cgi tech is also Activision's R&D, there's a video about it too. I guess they're working with Activision too, or maybe funded by them.
NO!!!! In fact this processor GPU consumes 1/3 of the A6x processor found in the Ipad! look at the article on ign: (ign.com/)articles/2013/07/24/nvidias-project-logan-brings-pc-graphics-to-smartphones-and-tablets
AMD has come up with something, Mantle, furthermore their RX series cards. Particularly their presumed titan crusher, the "RX290x". I love the battle between these companies and I am very interested to see what the future beholds.
0:14 Computer graphics for games have been held back by previous generations of hardware, that's why nothing like this has been done in a game yet. XD Plus all devs seem to be pretty comfortable saving money, by designing new games around outdated hardware, yet still being able to sell them for $60. There was a time in the late 90's to early 00's when graphics were up and coming, and were considered the next best thing in videogames. Reason the Xbox360 and PS3 were made to compete with PC.
Tegra wasn't based on a great GPU architecture, which Kepler is. It's all in the architecture, and if they actually did make a proper low-power mobile kepler gpu, it should be awesome.
Every new console is comparable to high end PC-s (in beggining ofc), for example, PS3 and Xbox360 were really powerfull in 2005/06. PS3 for example was priced $500 - $600 and (it was sold at a loss) and for that money you couldnt build a stronger PC in 2005/06. And the support is guaranteed (atleast 5-6 years with every console generation, for PS3/360 even 7-8 and counting). So, face the facts and you will see why there are so many console gamers out there + console exclusive titles etc.
well you can connect a mobile device to your tv. and it could actually be cheaper if the nvidia shield is anything to go by. (tegra 5 coming to next version of shield confirmed!)
My nexus 4 has an Adreno 320 gpu, and I cannot wait until a Tegra 5 based phone comes out to crush it. The speed improvement would actually be so much my nexus 4 will be used as a paperweight in comparison to the Tegra 5.
NVidia sadly has more marketing than actual performance when it comes to mobile computing, I'll believe it when the chip actually comes out and proved to has better performance than the competitions.
AMD's GPU is equally powerful, but it comes short on high resolutions and supersampling, I think it's just as good a choice as NVidia, they can both render that model anyway.
Build one or upgrade your existing one. A good graphics card will run you around $100 for something that can play modern games on medium-high settings.
You could but the PC was more expensive than consoles.... console GPU from 2005/06: ATI X1800 and nVidia 7800 (high end in 2005/06). Google: "gpureview" and find out the release date for X1800 - X1950 etc and ofc you need to count the bluray player for PS3. Its funny actually, because back in 2005/06 the "PS3 bluray" was less expensive than any regular/standalone bluray player.
Tech demos usually loop so you can get a better view of everything going on as if it's a live demo you can't exactly rewind...
"Too much this, too much that" Jeez, this is actually amazing. It's not like they grabbed some motion capture footage and played it. This is simulated and rendered in real time. Built from the ground up. That... Is amazing.

for sure it's just question of time. Waiting for the next demo video / platform!
Can we see this merged with the awesome real-time hair simulation as well? It would be awesome.
Awesome, I'd love to get to the point where proper games can be rendered in VR through simply a mobile phone. I can see that happening in a few years
Good work nVidia... great work...
downloaded this to try when I set up my new rig with a 770 a couple weeks ago, totally freaked me out.

the numbers say that it will have 192 cuda 5 cores and run off 2 watts of power.
I think that's pretty exciting.
Technology man... It's getting to be such great thing. It's our imagination put on a screen.
Pre-rendered video? I just want to see some interaction between user and this, for believe that!
really awesome and could bring evolutional features and developing environment for graphic designers and etc..
This is fucking impressive stuff. give it 4 more years and we have smart devices that are more capable graphically then consoles and probably pc's too..

Amazing demo however, the pupils don't change in size relative to lighting levels.
Because this is freaking amazing.

it's the new generation in render tech!cool!
He looks very innocent for some reason, also his smile is weird, the animation needs work before he passes as a real person but mind blown, the head looks more life like then anything I have seen even better then pre-animated stuff.
You can still use a controller. If you root the tablet you can use a PS3 controller via wireless. All you need is the app: Six Axis Controller.
It is definitively time to revive Marylin Monroe and finish that last infamous movie!
Hope this also holds for us a ground breaking CPU...much like the GPU!!!
There's an application that you can run at home to help use your computer to cure cancer. It uses the processing power to run tests and simulations.
Where can I buy it? :D
Great work :)
"The uncanny valley". But we will never get to the other side if we don't start the trip across.
Nvidia should make a console with project logan since it will be plugged into the wall which means that they can power project logan up to its full potential
this needs to be in project shield 2 (2014 model)
Still it is very impressive what they show here.
It can scale from ~1w up to apparently about 20w, where it competes with console level graphics. it is, project logan will be coming to shield next year probably.
I wanna see faces like this on games ...
Awesome! Should have made him cry. His eyes were so watery.
this is amazing!
Imagine if something like this was in the ouya, then people would take it more seriously as a threat to new consoles.
really innovative tech
Wow!!!! I love technology !!!!!!!!
And this is what optimized shaders do ladies & gentlemen
I'm impressed.
pierwszy na świecie perfekcyjny render typowego Polaka.
Incredible.
Meet Ira, he's from Uncanny Valley. Try not to scream in terror as you observe him. Thank you.
'm a 100% with you. Deus ex the fall is amazing but even as good as the touch controls are on it. Nothing beats the feel of an Xbox 360 controller.
Green team should make a NUC with this kind of technology...
The eyes are too "bright" but otherwise, this really comes across as real.
Great. Just after few months nvidia will probably release a tiny desktop card with a power of the Titan
That awkward moment when your laptop lags trying to play this video...
Last time i checked the cgi tech is also Activision's R&D, there's a video about it too. I guess they're working with Activision too, or maybe funded by them.

Does anyone have a clue on how expensive this might be? Also will this be available on phones too or just tablets? Like an iPhone
This is so uncanny valley!
Cool story bro
When is the next GeForce Lan?

Kojima!! We coming for You Ninja!!
I guess you missed the part where I wrote "if". Oh well, humanity always has its shortcomings.
My grandmother's reaction to this video, "He looks. Spooky".
INSANE!
how does this compare to a GTX 295?
I know it susing 1% of power requirements but can we have some stats
Tegra wasn't based on a great GPU architecture, which Kepler is. It's all in the architecture, and if they actually did make a proper low-power mobile kepler gpu, it should be awesome.
do I need a small power plant attached to my mobile device for that? :]
Amazing!!!
He looks like Tobey Maguire. They should make Ira do the "Peter Parker Smirking" face lol
Give me this in a 10 inch tablet with a wired controller and the build quality of an iPad. Then I will give you all my money!
Let's just put a few of these in a console to have more power at lower wattage.
Why dident they wait and put this in the shield instead of the tegra 4?
Incredible
Tá quase saindo, mas ainda está no Vale da Estranheza.

When you turn him into a real life robot... you can name him Ira Heebenstien.
well you can connect a mobile device to your tv. and it could actually be cheaper if the nvidia shield is anything to go by.
(tegra 5 coming to next version of shield confirmed!)
imagine GMod movies based on this :D
When will it come out?
Something's not right. My GTX 570 struggles to run this demo in stable 30 FPS.
oh my gooooooooooooowd
sooooo
realistic
Ifor how much money would you guys make me an android mobile or tablet with this chip ?
Pretty much, I was pretty hopeful of next gen consoles...no wonder Nvidia didn't really care about missing out on this up coming gen of consoles..
My nexus 4 has an Adreno 320 gpu, and I cannot wait until a Tegra 5 based phone comes out to crush it. The speed improvement would actually be so much my nexus 4 will be used as a paperweight in comparison to the Tegra 5.
Awesome!.
Too many tears...
they showed the same thing for ps4 and next gen pc gpus
you've already gotten the facial stuff down. Let's get some hair physics now!
I'm Logan! :D
I believe both.
As if anyone cares that you're not impressed, lol.
They're just going to continue improving it while you stew in your own little world. :P
NVidia sadly has more marketing than actual performance when it comes to mobile computing, I'll believe it when the chip actually comes out and proved to has better performance than the competitions.
He's in the uncanny valley.

Why didnt they do logan in shield?
You have clearance to fire. Make your folks proud, private!
Fck the real world. Ira's eyes are enchanting!
It wen't pretty bad with the Nvidia in the PS3, which lacked graphics performance compared to Xbox 360.
Some folks call it a kaiser blade, I call it a sling blade. Hmmm.
If you think that realistic interactive 3D realtime graphics only needed for kids, you are probably the one.
put that power to project shield
Build one or upgrade your existing one. A good graphics card will run you around $100 for something that can play modern games on medium-high settings.
There goes all my phone battery life

NOW WE TALKING
