One of my favorite football games of all time. The gameplay was ahead of its time with tactical depth, great ball physics and good control. Also the first one in the series that introduced the Master League mode. Unfortunately Shingo Seabass Takatsuka doesn’t seem to be involved in newer games of Konami soccer games which is a shame.

Brings back memories, this left FIFA way behind on a completely different level for a very long time , the realism for its time was just epic so addictive, I bought every version until 2011 that was the last time I played, great game.

We loved this game, played probably thousands of games against each other. I always chose Netherlands...Edgar Davids was an unstoppable force in midfield with a shot like a rocket! Absolutely the best football game I ever played. Loved the ability to edit your own players too for a bit of fun, and the Masters League was a brilliant game type.

Ah, memories. I always much preferred this (Winning Eleven 4) to the first Pro Evolution game (Winning Eleven 5) - the passing felt much better and the pace of the game just suited me a bit more.

Best football game ever !! Totally agree it was a generation ahead of its time. Games these days are prettier but the tactical depth and thrill with each game was unsurpassed for a long long time😊

No, but this was the first game introducing Master League Mode.
After this one (ISS Pro Evo), ISS Pro Evolution 2 was released in Europe in March 2001 (unfortunately not in America though) and after that PES 1 was finally released in late 2001 for PS2 and early 2002 for PS1 (also not in America).
But the PS1 Version of Pes 1 uses a nearly same engine as ISS Pro Evo with minor differences
