I support MDK but this guys really are showing the way to the rest of the teams in EU. G2 is a blessing for our region. Best of luck in Worlds. Hope MDK can join you guys there
On the topic of the importance of coaches and players, I think restaurants serve as a good analogy: it takes the best cook with the best ingredients and the best facilities to create the best meal. If one thing is lacking, the end result suffers. A good chef can't maximize their potential with a microwave oven, good pots and pans are wasted on rotten meat, and wagyu and fresh truffles are wasted on a chef that cooks everything to a char.
Fnatic looks like an LPL team in 2015 at internationals. So much hype, the EU crowd know how good then can be, completely boil over and get smacked around.
It hasn't been the same since Caps switched teams and Rekkles left, but it's extremely interesting to hear G2 praise them to this extent at a time when many say Fnatic is a washed org.
@@SleepyFen eh, those were definitely great days (excluding the W2018 finals) and they haven't reached that peak again, but I wouldn't call them washed. Same thing they talk about on the podcast, just because a team isn't performing as well internationally doesn't make them washed. They still place top 3 most seasons/splits, have great players, and play great league.
It would be so cool to just bring coaches of the top EU teams and let them discuss about drafts and whatever, I just feel like every team has a very unique way of thinking about the game
My take on the discussion of G2 always being the aggressor, striving to get the perfect win every time even if it increases the risk of making a won game more difficult than it needs to be: G2 wants to win games because they won it, not just because the opponent lost it. Its a big part of what makes G2 my favourite team in League, but its a double edged sword. That approach is what gives them their wins, but it also means that when they lose it makes the plays look a lot worse. I think a lot of the time people see a play, game or series where this happened and it didn't work out in G2's favour and see it as an unnecessary loss, which it is, but those loses come as a by-product of the same approach that gives G2 its wins, and people don't see that in the moment.
Agreed. But then again, you can play the loser's game (ie winning games by playing conservatively and waiting for the opponent to make mistakes) only as long as you're playing teams that make mistakes. It's a strategy that doesn't hold up internationally, where the enemy team won't make (as many) mistakes. I think G2 don't need to play the winner's game to win LEC, but I admire them (and FNC) because their goal the whole year is to compete internationally, and they use LEC as best as they can to prep for that. And I think that's a blessing for the whole league, and teams like FNC and BDS are starting to follow the example
definitely, but it's only normal, they wanna convince themselves that their loss to MDK was a fluke, so naturally they will say that it's an easy win for FNC

IMO no. They're a good team but u don't feel they have ego problems in game. I think the coaching staff keeps expectations grounded and expects a high level of discipline. I think g2 know how good they are and play the whole year with international competitions in mind
why falco is so butthurted for g2 2019 team? that was the best team eu ever produced both players and coaching staff. g2 never were nearly so good like they were back then
18:48 Just cuz you did "well" at MSI and that is even a stretch for me (i.e. Top 4 is like whatever, they just overperformed by beating TES, everything else was just about expected), doesn't mean anything and has absolutely 0 correlation to how well you would do at Worlds lmao especially in a game where patches and metas shift so constantly throughout the season.
So 3-0ing an asian team and almost winning against t1 is an expected performance when in the past 4 years no western team ever came close to beating even the 4th seed of lpl or lck? Sure bud. He was just saying that they showed that can compete and the negativity around their recent performance is partially unjustified in his opinion
@@dennoplit3728"almost" beat lmao PSG "almost" beat BLG too and by the way G2 proceeded to get swept in the rematch so winning 2 out of 6 games isnt that impressive and that was T1 in their worst form since like 2021. Regardless of this, my actual point was that it is silly bringing up past results when the meta isn't even the same as it was couple months ago.
