Seems you should 1, bore a HUGE hangar into the asteroid to protect it, and 2, connect it to your pre-existing production via conveyors so you can mass repair it without worrying about it being attacked, powered, or short on supplies.
Found this series about a week ago and have been really enjoying it, honestly what convinced me to get the game and try it out for my self
What a wonderful time-lapse on building that HUGE ship! Fantastic video!!!
Loved the ship-building timelapse, more of that!
Thanks mate, will be more to come for sure and glad you liked it! It was really fun to make 😁✌️
You made it!
I don't usually like it when wheels are used as structural elements on ships, it looks weird to me, but here they remind me of real world boats with car tires hanging off the railing to protect from bumping into stuff. It works.
Another thing with this design that I _usually_ don't like, but works here, is how the ship is "flat" at the ends.
Typically it makes a ship look trunchated, as if someone cut it off with a big knife flush with the thrusters. I prefer the thrusters to be either recessed and protected, or protruding a bit from the fuselage, and surrounded by more interesting shapes than just some flat blocks.
On this ship, though, it works. The whole thing is, as someone else said, a framework holding the components together. You _could_ have a more elaborate thruster pack on it, but the way it is built now looks completely appropriate.
I know you don't like using "Bob" for actually _building_ your ships, but if I was building this I would put one in just to help with hard-to-reach repairs, and maybe with some salvage. Do as you will with that, of course.
I was also thinking about some way of hollowing out the asteroid as a kind of hangar, or at least a protected "cove" to moor the ship up. That would be a pretty big job, though.
Overall, I really like the design of this ship. It's different from your own designs, and while I like your designs as well, it's nice to see a bit of variety.
It will be very interesting to see how it holds up to use in this game world. I suspect you will have to make modifications, and it will be fun to see what they are.
Personally, I would prefer to have some kind of pressurised crew compartment. It may not be completely necessary, but it would make me feel a bit more comfortable. I don't know if it's possible to connect the command seat to conveyors and have that provide oxygen, but if not, I'd definitely build a pressurised room around it. I guess I don't have to explain why ;-)
Yeah this ship is quite unique where it does look good with the flat front and back, reminds me a little bit of ships from the expanse.
It definitely needs some sort of pressurization though!
The plan is to eventually build a hangar like you mentioned, but I need to find a better asteroid that will fit what I want to in it and be out of the planets gravity 😎.
Dang, can't believe that you literally single handed weld that ship, amazing!
Thanks man 😎✌️
likewise. Man this is tedious to watch. Not in a bad way.
More like I felt for you, the constant back and forth...
I couldn't have done it, I would have gone for a welder-Bee.
At least for a good chunk and do the finie work by hand.
Just wanted to drop by and say I have started rewatching your survival series , love the content ! Hilarious stuff and great engineering !
That timelapse music was so soothing I just nodded off 😂 cant wait to finish watching this in the morning😅.
Didnt nod off, but i enjoyed the music, i like this music for the timelapses
Can also get more gold for yield models for your refineries. Best to fill the haul with gold for lots of superconductors that might be needed in the future.
I am half tempted to run 100% yield modules since it is so hard to get the ore in the first place haha
Isy’s inventory manager for the win. Auto inventory management and reporting via LCD. I can’t live without it now. You can focus on resource gathering and building while the logistics management of your factory is taken care of. :)
Yeah i'm gonna get this script for sure, because you can use it to automatically manufacture stuff once you get below a certain stock level 😎👌
the anxiety i get watching you never care about your energy is so real
Great looking ship. Will this be on the your workshop? I had a look (your other ships are great btw), but I couldn't see it.
Dam sure I would have built a few Build and Repair units and let them help with the build, maybe worth building a couple to pick up what you missed and for on going repairs?
Think it be worth building a purpose built miner, get your Gold/Ice then store it on your mother ship..
Still thinking some extra defences and armour are needed for your mother ship.
Watched and Liked 👍
I must admit I don't like using that mod this early on in the game, I feel it makes the game too easy, but it is good as a repair system 😎.
But yeah that ship does need a bit more modification that's for sure, once i get on-top of resources I think I will have a look at that 😎👌.
I feel this is the time you would want a bunch of buddies to play with
Yeah it would probably help!! 😅. My schedule is so hectic these days though lol
I wanna see a survival series where one engineer has crashed his little ship, & has to locate & salvage a crashed cruiser, like an RWI Defender class, or one of the ones inspired by Halo 2, rejoin the 2 or 3 broken pieces using various tools, & using only atmo & ion, get the ship into space & signal for rescue, maybe fighting off/running from Reavers or Drones while the rescue arrives.
Love the episodes well done but I'm also looking forward for the continuation of the lest series
Yeah I have to admit I have dropped the ball on that series, I have kind of hit a creative roadblock and then had a lot going on in RL 😔
@The Garage Gamer oh sorry to hear but I hope everything gets better 🙏🏾
Great job as always, keep up the awesome work and thank you
Thanks for the kind words mate, really appreciate it! 😎👌
That ship is wild, and seems very fast compared to your first ship.
Something that would be crazy to see would be drilling arms on your ship base. Find a spot you need ore from, unfold the arms and go to work. What I see in my head would involve multiple pistons and rotors though. Not even sure if it'd work as I've never played the game. One day I will though.
I also have a name for your ship, The Monstrosity.
Yeah she is pretty good going straight and upwards, but she does lack a little from side to side and downwards 😊.
Yeah sadly the ore is soooo deep with this mod that you would need like 50 pistons at least to get down that far and it would probably explode because of clang 😂.
@@TheGarageGamer86 Awww Clang ruining my wonderful plans.
@@jamesweible5357 He usually does haha
@@TheGarageGamer86 I'm just learning about SE and I'm just absorbing hours of videos from different people, so this might not be correct at all, but wouldn't share tensor help with the clang?
Massive hanger is in need me thinks. Great episode as always mate
Yeah I am kinda tossing up between doing a dedicated small grid miner and attach it to this ship, or go all out and make a mining ship large grid and with jump drives to go all the way to planet, mine and then jump back 😕
37:10 NOW its time to FINISH the HULL of the ship!
Right this moment, its mainly just a piece of framework holding components loosely in place.
Neither very strong, safe, nor sturdy.
Oh yeah this design is more of an art piece to be honest! Does look cool though 😂
It is actually a really cool looking ship! May it serve you well. Have to say, it is fun capturing ships and giving them a refit, been doing alot of that lately. Anotjer great episode!!!
Thanks mate, really appreciate it! Yeah I really like some of the designs in the Vanilla game 😎👌
I think I would add presurization to be able to be in the ship without oxygen issues
I've been enjoying the series. Nice work!
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words!! 😎✌️ Glad you are enjoying the series 😉
you could build your base up while you wait for your stuff to craft, so it's not just a pile of machines on a rock ^^
Yeah this base was supposed to be temporary but maybe less temporary than I should it would be 🤣
It's time to dismantle that pod and use the parts to build a small grid miner. So you don't have to hand mine. You should have enough metal grids and thruster componants to build a hydrogen/ion miner for the moon and an atmospheric one for mars.
Yeah that is definitely the plan for Episode 11, this hand mining is slowing me down a lot!
I'm having withdrawals I need episode 10 😂
Sorry man, this weekend was a nightmare hey, just could not find it in me to hit that record button, but I pulled through later haha
It's all good buddy we all have them days I appreciate the videos they help me escape my mundane life lol
befor you where planning to start on that nice full Industrial ship rebuilding it
The ship build time lapse is satisfying. Best episode yet. All the others were great but I loved the chill style. Just bought SE on the PC because of you. Played when it first came out on the Xbox with a roomie but graduating to PC, excited to try playing again. Gonna be odd solo but will definitely be fun! This looks like it's came so far! Cheers friend!
That's awesome, I love it when I inspire people to give the game a try if not for the first time but get back into it again 😎👌
Hey man you can probably play with me and a friend if you wanted
Enjoying the episodes so far! Can I ask, which ship is this and are you aware if a blueprint exists of it?
Thanks mate 😎✌️.
Yeah it is called the Prometheus and you can find it here - steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=698387294&searchtext=Prometheus
@@TheGarageGamer86 Thanks!
Also, since you're mining so much stone, I think the basic refinery is your best option for yield, but I could be wrong.
I think you still get more from the the bigger refineries and stone 😊
It is possible to get rid of components out of the queue in the assembler you just need to double click on them
Yeah on the master assembler you can, but not on the co-op one's 😔
love em keep them coming sir
Thanks mate, and will do! Glad you enjoy them! 😎👌
Should have made a welding arm with a script, might work with a turret controller.
Question: why reinstall the vanilla guns on the restored ship rather than the superior (range) mod weapons?
that build was so incredible how long did it actually take to build it and the big black rollor wheels what do they do strength or deco thank you for the time lapse and your time showing us the videos
I think all up it wasn't that long, it was a while ago now but I think it was about an hour and a half or somewhere around that time frame 😊. When building from a projection it can be quite quick to build because you can use the build planner.
Those wheels are purely for decoration, this ship is from the workshop and was made in the early days of the game when they used all sorts of blocks for decoration, I think this one was made before any of the DLC's had come out too. The wheels are supposed to be half ground down though 😅
Right click the item in queue and it will remove it. ;)
The time lapse music almost made me sleep😅
you should merge block the respawn pod to the new ship and just use the respawn pod to fly with.
Interesting idea! Never even thought of that one 😎👌
GONNA HAVE A MONTAAAAGE!!!
Usually for me the ore detector is never at full range when first built. I never saw you adjust it, but it could have just be edited out.
Yeah Turns out I did adjust it a while back 🤣👌
Dude,, I would have changed the entire design of your ship,, it’s just way to open and ugly. The next thing is that you should of built yourself a small 3 welder / grinder / miner multi use ship with 6 each cargo containers and batteries. And lastly,, you should have just moved the entire build closer to your home base by at least 200 blocks. It’s going to make construction 100% easier for you in the end. My final suggestion =. Yep,, you should have gone all the way back down to earth 🌍 or over to the moon 🌙 and picked up a full load of gold and cobalt . And once you got back,,& got it refined,, put a priority on getting some. Build and repair systems up ⬆️,, this would allow you to build everything easy peasy, including your new ship. ❤😂❤😊❤
trying to figure out why you were hand-mining stone instead of using the respawn miner.
I think the only thing I mined by hand was gold, though the last few weeks have been a blur 🤣👌
Was your second assembler in cooperative mode?
Yeah there is one primary and 5 in co-op on the ship 😊
Hi
What is the name of the round ship?
That´s looking nice, wanna weld it together
That would be the Prometheus, which can be found in the link below. I actually did not create this one myself.
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=698387294
I’m sorry. Did anyone mention what this ship is? I’d like to check out the blueprint.
This one here bud, its is a very old ship from before all of the DLC's 😎👌

Why not write a script to detect what blocks are needed in your projector, "translate" those blocks into their respective parts, and queue up those parts?
One click, all needed stuff queued.
Could even include a scan of current inventories to subtract any currently-present-items.
Oh man I suck at scripts lol. There is one called Projector to Assembler on the workshop though, I was gonna download it but I couldn't be bothered to figure out how to use it properly.
@@TheGarageGamer86 I mean... I'd take a look into it if you need? I need a new project anyway lmao
@@EnjoyCocaColaLight Damn, you must get bored easily! I honestly think there would be thousands of SE Players that could benefit from what you described!! 😎
@@TheGarageGamer86 I had completely forgotten about this.
Will look into making it now, actually.
There is a Mod that is a welder like build and repair that will print ur blueprints
What ever is in the 1st slot in ur assembler the second will que it up
anyone else see the skull eyes at 31:31??? On the asteroid??
2:00 Maybe I am delusional, but I am TOTALLY, QUITE certain you got that gold from the very first asteroids you spawned in beside and then decided it would be too much trouble to get any more or to even bother marking where you got it from.
If you can go back and prove me wrong, I'll shut up about it, but I'm pretty sure that is where it came from.
He may or may not have had gold at some time, but the stuff he shows us in his cargo is Silver - Ag, Gold is Au.
Yeah your close, that was Silver 😎👍 I grabbed a tiny bit which i thought would've been enough for a medical room, but alas it wasn't 😂
What is that Timelapse song. Messa want.
You can find a list of the songs used in the description of the video.
Which timestamp is that one? 😊
Save your world as it is now and then upload it
I usually keep the save game as at the end of each episode so I might go ahead and do that 😊
Do pc players have a pcu cuz your pcs dead
If they do😅
Yeah but I disable all of the PCU restrictions 😉😎👌
