It's great that you can play the Hippopotamus with either White or Black. But here's a disturbing thought. What happens if you play the Hippopotamus ... and your opponent responds with the Hippopotamus?
In the video there are some examples where White advances 3 pawns... In general the plan is to break at the right moment and react in or around the center. I know it can be scaring when your opponent advances the 4 pawns, but keep in mind that it doesn't necessarily mean they are better (since advancing pawns also creates weaknesses)
The problem line I face is wn they start wd F4 E4.. N then go for pawn exchange on f5/6.. Wd Rook on E1D1 n Bishop+Queen on B3 n C2 putting pressure on my king side GF pawns... Thus opening the king side wide open.. 😢
@@michechess yes.. But thts still tough.. As i said specially wn they hav E n D Files wd rooks on the 1st rank, Mich.. Thx 4 d suggestion.. N ur 2nd game helped a little wd sm ideas.. I guess there will be a war for territory between two hippos then 🙃😁
I’m curious as to how the hippo player should respond if his opponents creates a massive 3 or 4 pawn center.

what happened if the wait attk with th 3 pawon F. E. D?? and what happened it the playa advance version pawn?
Every position is different...
But very often you can break on f5, e5 , d5 or c5 before either of his pawns gets the 5th rank
@@michechess if you can do video about this version this will be great
I can't promise anything, but I keep it in mind for next videos... thanks
@@michechess thanks
i play the hippo exclusively nowadays thank you for the lesson.
That's great!
Thanks for letting me know!
Wt is ur suggestion if ur opponent pins ur knight wd Bg5!! I had been playing hippo wd good results for 1month now.. 😊
Hi, thanks for commenting!
As long as you can play h6, that should be the right move...
@@michechess yep, n they exchange my N for their B.. I loved my knights very much.. That is the sad part..mich!
I understand if you like the Knight, but keep in mind that the Bishop is better, usually it's a good trade for you

Have you thought of playing in the center when they are preparing the f5 break?
Like, d5 for example...

The opening seems fine,
Any mistake should have been later in the middlegame
@@michechess yes.. 😋 10. g4 h5 11. g5 Ne8 12. h4 Nd6 13. a3 g6 14. c4 d4.. Then Exchanged my Epawn n opened the center wide.. N steamrolled.. 🤣
Maybe opening was not ideal...
With the King in the Center in general it's not good
