This makes me oddly nostalgic, although I never really played SRB2 until around 2020. I believe my first exposure to this game was through an old YTP which I wasn't even sure was real until I saw a post about it on the message board (It's unfortunately considered lost media). SRB2's history is very interesting to me, I really enjoy looking at what was changed and scrapped. It has inspired me to get into a lot of things I now enjoy doing. Thank you and all of the other community members for creating a great game and an even greater community.
Same, I first found it through a "history of Greenflower Zone" video on YT and ended up downloading SRB2 on February 7, 2020 This was my first 3D Sonic game and possibly first 3D platformer entirely, I was completely blown away by the levels and especially the music (although I remember GFZ1 somehow took me half an hour on my first try, and CEZ3 and RVZ1 had me stuck for WEEKS) I've been playing this game obsessively ever since (with a several month break somewhere in 2022-23) and now have roughly 360 hours (15 days) of playtime, and that's just without addons lmao Yeah I might have a problem
I Don't Know Why But After Watching The (Complete) History Of Sonic Robo Blast 2 And Hearing The Guitar Part AKA The Guitar Part From Old ERZ Mixed in With ERZ Act 2 (2.2) I Get Very Emotional Like I've Seen Old Footage Of It
Kinda unrelated but can i be honest for a second? But first, no i never encountered this in-game, but this De-Mix is really awesome SSN!! Second: To me, SRB2: The Past might be one of, if not, the best tribute to a game's past i've ever seen. I never got around to SRB2 until 2.1, but this mod, really made me feel the joy of how it could have been like to experience the game in older versions back then (And the Beta stuff showing how the game has evolved). The new Museum HUB was really well designed and has some very cool callbacks, and the addition of the Colloseum with Boss Rush and Metal's Challenge were awesome, although i wish there was a final boss rush actually including all the bosses and endgame bosses, and Relay CEZ Act 2 being weirdly designed around being forced to following Metal to press the buttons. But these are just nitpicks. I really want to thank Glaber and everyone else who contributed to this (Including you SSN), they did a fantastic job. Also, Sonic Doom 2 campaign's inclusion was huge because not only did it have an awesome introduction (going through the old museum) and ending (Cybrakdemon, exiting out of SD2 and Credits), i never got to play the original fully AND without most enemies looking like their DOOM counterparts (probably because i played on a recent version of GZDOOM). Nowadays the Sonic DOOM series is just novelty for it's time, i still really liked playing through the second game in SRB2TP, even though it had major flaws, specially in the level designing department, i got pretty lost often even if it were in the original game LOL, but they looked great for the time nonetheless, specially Ice Cap and Sky Sanctuary. The game had some cool and funny ideas like enemy roster, Sonic ball Chainsaw and the Character zones (also secret Greenflower map). Idk this might not be a good place to put this here so im sorry if this bothers you-

I just noticed this version has the Greenflower Zone and boss music parts. I never found the MIDI version with that section before and i assume your Korg uses MIDIs. If that's the case, would you mind giving the MIDI?
In my opinion, such gorgeous credits can be shown when the player collected all the emblems, completed all the levels for all the characters, and this was considered a reward for the path made, and after the real credits, they gave access to Pandora's box and an open camera.

if you are wondering, you need to beat sonic doom to get this ending, which requires a lot of other stuff to be done as well

SSN is probably the one who made the grand credits of SRB2 The Past. The mod is really great!
This is a beautiful tribute to the game's history.
that yamaha midi thing you have stays strong even after, like, 15 years huh. Nice to know.
It's mostly a Korg X5DR. I should probably proactively change the watch battery in it, though...
@@ssntails Hope it keep working for very long, whatever conditions it's in
If we get demixes of all the other tracks, we might be able to get a full recreation of 2.2 in 2.1. Sorta like a 2.1 and a half.
I mean, if you have the same MIDI keyboard you could just play the 2.2 MIDIs in it and it'd be kinda close.
Man i love the style you have when you draw the sonic characters
I'd gladly play a retro-ified 2.2
This part of the music absolutely slaps 2:16
This made me cry. Not because it's bad or anything, the fact this project was started in 1998 and the pure nostalgia it got.

Masterpiece
If this plays when srb2 gets it final update, its gonna make me tear up a bit.

Sadly, I can't play SRB2 The Past because it crashes on the Switch port😔
the issue might be because the museum is too big to load and that causes to crash
