Finally gut health is becoming more mainstream
Thank you! I'm so happy we were able to bring this to Netflix audiences! Thanks to the crew and whole Netflix team. From Anjali (the director)
Agreed. Been waiting for this.
Prebiotic, probiotic, postbiotics! They are amazing for the gut
@@blocboi407probiotics are amazing, how specifically? Are you a nutritionist? Physiologist?
It has been since many years though.
Having a gut health test changed my life. I do hope that thanks to this documentary, more people realize that food is the answer to your problems
yes, but these guys seem to be pushing the same horseshit the RDs are pushing.
What test did you take for a gut health test?
@@NobleSteed00Could you be more vague?
What test is that called?
Except they spread misinformation like wildfire
Excited to see the gut microbiome taking the spotlight in this Netflix documentary! As a company offering microbiome tests and trying to empower individuals with knowledge about their gut microbiome, it's fantastic to witness the growing awareness of this crucial aspect of health. 🤩
I watched this documentary yesterday and I think I would give it a 7/10.
There are parts that I really loved, such as they stressed that yes, there is such a thing as a fecal test, but it’s not vital and one can implement healthy changes without it. Then they said that although some bacteria are responsible for weight loss and the feeling of satiation, it’s not as simple as just reintroducing them. Rather, it’s about how the entire micro biome interacts.
What I did find strange, though, is when they spoke of micro dosing - slowly reintroducing certain foods - the example was POTATO CHIPS! And it was a woman who formerly anorexic. While I’m not saying one should never eat potato chips I think it’s not a high priority if one has digestive issues.
Secondly, I fee the documentary doesn’t provide a lot of practical knowledge and focused just a bit too much on the personal lives of the characters.
But 10/10 for Guilia Enders and the animation 😍
It's plant based, big-agra propaganda. Meat and fat heal the gut and body.
@@bigmambahful - having watched the documentary this was not a push for veganism. They simply stressed the need to eat fruits and veggies as part of ANY diet.
I found the documentary interesting, but i think it was not necessary to show them making smoothies of feces…
Thanks for the review, you really helped me with your comment! I'm looking for practical advice kind of documentary, so knowing they put weight on empathy and personal story, I can skip this series
I love netflix documentaries they're so informative please keep makeing them
Informative my ass
@@lindsayspates8907 Literally no mention of keto diet that improves gut health and improves basically everything.
@@bench175 Agreed. There's a huge subset of people healing themselves by doing the exact opposite of what this big-agra propaganda film is pushing. Carnivore/keto are a big threat to the plant based lobby.
Lmao this is such a Netflix thing to do… Finding a doctor who calls autism a disease. Great… 🙄
When to a doctor who focused on gut health, After 15+ years I am finally getting better. Never really bout into the whole organic thing. I was sure it was probably better. I ate nothing but organic for a like a month and dropped 30 pounds and felt much better.
yes this is such great timing, ive been wanting to learn more about gut health!
Ketogenic diets are stabilizing and helping so many people with mental illness.
It’s all in the gut! It’s not just about what you don’t eat but also what you do eat!
We need to realize this low fat, high carb diet is what is literally making us fat and sick.
Yet that’s probably what will be promoted in this “documentary”
Have you watched “You are what you eat”?
@@garouthetiktokinfluencerhu9731 no but I heard it was vegan propaganda. It’s also funded by an organizations that’s pro-animal life I believe.
Dr. Pal fans here?
Yes
Yes 😊
Yes
Who is him?
@@alannateresaestrella4042 he is a doctor from India and runs a UA-cam channel to spread awareness about gut health!
I watched the whole thing.
Narrators repeatedly state throughout the "documentary" that Autism is a disease and that it is caused by poor diet and gut health. It's not edited to sound accidentally thrown into a list the way it is in the trailer.
1. Autism is not a disease. It's a neurological disorder that causes behavioral, social, and psychological divergences. It's not a sickness.
2. Autism is not caused by a poor diet or poor gut health. Everyone who has it was born with it. Neurons and synapses that would typically die off as the brain develops do not. Gut health is irrelevant.
3. Autism is a permanent condition. I will always be autistic no matter how healthy my gut is.
4. I ate pretty healthy during my pregnancy, but my son was born autistic because it's genetic on the mother's side.
These Netflix originals are not properly regulated or fact checked. They're no better than Tik Tok throwing out random info and calling it facts because they have the platform and the connections.
Same when the fat black woman says "why am I not losing weight" cause you don't calorie count and are always in a calorie surplus.
Thank you. I am autistic and it hurt me to hear that they still can spread these misinformation
As soon as I heard that in the trailer, I immediately NOPED (and I'm neuro-typical). The doc loses all credibility once it makes such egregious statements.
I'm sorry you have been misled. Try carnivore for 60 days and see what happens. I recommend reading Georgia Eads' book, Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind. Please do some research. I wish you the best.
for sure be adding this to the watch list.
Im so ready for this one Netflix documentary’s always good
I always told in my health classes that one of the main reasons of serious incurable diseases like autoimmune, autism, Parkinson's, etc. is connected to the gut microbiome.... The best thing you can do for your gut is to increase your intake of fiber. Hope more people wake up to this fact and work on their health...😊
Yeah, we forget that our gut health has its own immune system. I know our immune system works as a whole in our body to protect our bodies, but our GI tract is such a unique and interesting system because its not their only job to absorb nutrients and get rid of waste but it's also important part of our immune system as well and it is connected to many chronic illnesses. I do strongly believe that our American culture and daily habits are huge contributors to our health crisis and health issues. If more and more Americans become more knowledgeable and try their best undo unhealthy habits and glamorize unhealthy eating, we would be in better health. Weight is sometimes is genetics, part of aging, and other hormonal issues, but we can at least control and choose what we eat in our bodies.
Health classes? What is your expertise?

Love this doc and Laura Venditti's wool animations.
Considering a lot of countries (including the U.S.A.) have an overweight/obesity epidemic, it makes sense for more documentaries on it. I'm interested in this.
That's because they're eating too much. It's pretty obvious, no?
@user-ds8rj2vc4v While that may be a factor, it's an oversimplification of the epidemic. There is more to the story that meets the eye.
@@AsianShadowrunner
No, that is 100% the problem.
If you eat too much, you will gain weight. If you eat less than you need, you will lose weight.
That's newtonian physics dude. Basic level knowledge.
@@user-ds8rj2vc4v You didn't watch the trailer, did you? People have followed that philosophy for years and don't see any changes. Oversimplification of that takes away the struggle many overweight/obese people have to go through.
@@AsianShadowrunner
You don't understand science do you?
It's not a philosophy, it's a scientific fact. It's not oversimplification, it's the reality of the situation.
It's not a struggle, it's an overindulgence.
The solution to obesity is clear. Eat less. That's it.
i love that they got giulia enders for the docu too - she wrote the most amazing book about the gut, i learned so much about my body!
If you learned so much, why are you here?
Im tired of suffering gut problems. Need to watch this asap
These Netflix documentaries are the only thing I watch!
I hope you watch other sources because they are really misinformed about autism.
And me when I talk about autism? hahaha@@Emi_72
Yesssss please
Love love love the choice of animation.
Waiting eagerly for this one. Have been reading a lot about gut this year, this looks promising.
It's not fact checked and a load of crap
I think this documentary was very informative. It’s not trying to sell you anything and delivers the topic in a way that anyone can understand
Except they said autism is cureable… it’s not a disease !
Netflix I love ya 😊
Ye, this is gonna be a good one. Good job Netflix 👏
They literally eat each other sh*t . What is good in it??? OMG
Just finished watching it and it was soooo good!!! Definitely a 10/10!
My mum just spent the best part of this week due to alot of Gall Stones, we're now trying to find alternative fat free products that will ensure she has tasty meals and isn't left feeling hungry - poor thing, she prepared our traditional Maltese Easter treats (Figoli, Simnol Cake) and now can't have any of it, really opens your eyes to how fatty our food is.
Netflix is the best for everything. Absolutely I’m so grateful for it.❤ and this got Health film is amazing
It's all funded by big-agra.
I want to learn more about gut health so this is GRRREAAT!!! 👍🏾💖😁
I’d love the recipe for the 60 plant smoothie challenge. Anyone know where to find it?
Any answer to this question?
Me too
Very stupid idea. You're asking for oxalate overdose and kidney stones. Plants have defense chemicals to protect themselves so no one should be eating that many plants.
Just make your own, at extra fruits to make it sweeter, eat lots of colors and eat salads in between, with more different foods and plants. Don’t have to eat them all in one smoothie.
Sounds like a good way to cause inflammation from plant defense chemicals and load your liver with fructose to cause nonalcoholic fatty liver.
Excellent 👌🏻
Thanks Netflix for such an amazing content
You have no idea how this documentary turns out.
@@NobleSteed00yeah, so many bot comments, don't even bother :(

Lemme guess;
Eat healthy fruit, vegetables and unprocessed meats lower in salt / fats, and don't eat a calorie surplass.

This one's for you.
After watching documentary, im starting to worry about my microbiome 😅 i love the animation!
PLEASE, give me main theme/soundtrack of GoKarts. It's great!
Dr.pal❤❤
This film is the cinematic adaptation of Giulia Enders' book "Darm mit Charme". I recognized her voice from the first sentence on. What I don't get why they made her narrate the _English_ version of this (with a broad German accent) while they had her dubbed by a vouce actress in the German version even though Giulia is German!? 😳
But either way, I'm happy her great and important work is getting more attention this way.
nimona 2 please ❤

when will it be available in france does anyone know?
“The Good Gut” by the Sonnerburgs
Giulia Enders looks so familiar. Where have I seen her? I may have met her somewhere.

The secret of your Gorguts!
It's Not TV, It's HBO.
No HBO, PBO?
Conclusión eat a lot of plants, aka fruits and vegetables, including vegetables like potatoes and peppers and as much fiber as possible and you’ll have a diverse microbiome. A Whole Foods plant based diet, automatically gets people eating lots of different plants every week, which makes me understand how a lot of inflammatory conditions disappeared when I started eating more plants.
Autism is not a disease
Thank you I was like genuinely my disability is not a disease… it something I have and live with and am very happy with… and treating it as a disease is geniunely disgusting and disrespectful
Exactly right.
One word - Ayurved, described it thousand of years ago.
Yeah a thousand years ago was the peak of scientific knowledge 🤦🏻♀️😆
Is any of this verified by data, medical info?
I’m sure they will cherry pick a couple studies to paint a picture of the narrative they are pushing!
Giulia Enders a German doctor and author can be seen in the trailer, I sure hope so!
As a microbiologist I can say most of the data is very correlational and there is no easy link between complex disorders and disabilities and your gut. Excuse the pun but take all this with a pinch of salt
Yep. Start researching it yourself. You will be amazed. Actually research it.

I totally believe in gut health and it's biome, the one nagging question for me however is why they have a coue seemingly over weight/obese doctors trying to sell the concept. I'm not trying to be judging but it seems odd to me... So are they denying or not eating for their individual biomes?

Peoples unique microbiome's are almost entirely due to diet. Having variation doesn't mean that our species is the only one we know of to have different dietary requirements based on each person. The biome adjusts based on what you feed it. There is only one natural human diet, and nutritional anthropology tells us its animal based.
What is your educational background that qualifies your opinion?
@@rlud304 neuroscience and nutrition UG, but why do I need one. Ever heard of an autodidact? Prove that statement wrong
@@KK-lg8uz Thanks for answering but I don’t know what that means. So a Bachelor of Science? Masters? I completely agree self educating is absolutely a thing. That’s how I become an amateur historian. Nothing personal. There are so many insufferable self-proclaimed “experts” on the internet that makes me need to ask sometimes. I have a science background (pharmacy) so education matters to me.
This is definitely a new subject for me. The extent of my knowledge is from one book I read entitled “Spoonfed” by Tim Spector(?). It’s just my understanding is no two bodies are alike because of genetic variation
@@rlud304 ok thanks, I just think it’s way more important to focus on the claim rather than the individual. If you just outright discredit someone based on educational background it’s not fair, and also an appeal to authority. Most nutritionists and dieticians are useless. I wouldn’t even take advice from the professor that was teaching me. He based his own personal and professional guidelines on the food pyramid. UG means undergrad.

👎 What about DNA?!? Like Histamine Intolerance, EDS, MTHFR Deficiency, Allergies & Tryptase, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, Insulin Resistance, Lactose Intolerance, etc. All these genetic predispositions impact gut health too! Turns out I have all of these myself and am allergic to most food like Birch, Herbs, Peanuts/legumes, potato and more. This information is just as important as all the other information for a complete picture! Disappointed you didn't even mention DNA!! 😡
I agree. Huge chunk of missing information here.
A lot of genes in your DNA are turned on or off by the cell's mitochondria, which is influenced by neurological signaling, which is in turn affected by the gut microbiome.
