I’d say it’s the expectation that causes you to feel you’re not getting where you want to be.
If you notice yourself get 10% better at something without trying, you’re happy because you didn’t expect it.
If you get 20% better at something after a lot of effort, you might not even notice it. Or if you do, it’s not enough and you thought you’d be further ahead by now.
Seems pretty universally applicable but just my opinion.

The takeaway, from my distorted point of view, is that people often externalize their search for meaning - they try to find a purpose, find a greater truth, etc. something to resonate with emotionally. But the meaning to be found is in a more intimate relationship with yourself. You feel “lost” because you’re not in touch with your feelings and body. In this way, you’ve lost your “authenticity”. Awareness of and steadfast love for your emotional self.
Finding the meaning of life may well be an inward journey, rather than an outward journey that many people think of. For me, meaning was found in trauma therapy for some rough childhood stuff and basic Tibetan Buddhism meditations. To be in touch with my emotions and able to feel love, empathy, and compassion for others in and of itself feels incredible meaningful.
But, I’m only months into this journey. It’s completely possible that i will be less confident of my path in the future 😂

From a Dàoist perspective and one that follows the Dào, I find many comparisons to compare against regarding the script of this video.
Let me say all paths up the mountain lead to the same destination.
The people that get this wrong are those that stay at the bottom of the mountain and tell everyone which is the best path to take.
In essence, the journey of self-discovery and self cultivation will and should look different from one another.
The path is always flowing and / or changing.
Following Wu-wei (the general flow of your own stream that is your life) it is best to go with how your life is flowing. You will end up at the end of that same stream in good time regardless. (Basically, like all paths up the mountain lead to the same destination)
At the end of the day, who you are is enough, where you're going, as long as you stay true to you, it will be the right destination.
You are the stream that you are going on. You are worth everything to yourself, you, for you are worth every ounce of love you have.
      Kind words, The Dào ☯️

This is why I’m not into the whole modern day internet grind bandwagon as much but stick to a routine discipline and wise decision making since repetition is key and knowing what your individual weaknesses, strengths and proclivities are so you can proactively manage them to live a right life.

This has been me most of my life. I'm nowhere near where I thought I would be by now because I've not been living true to myself, the passions of my soul, my calling. I've been living to be who and what the situations or people called for, not being true to what I wanted or saying my peace because of the weight of the possible judgment and fear. My path in life got me lost for so many years looking and waiting for someone who would never be found. After 30+ years of being lost, I have found that I am the person I've been looking for this whole time, I was just looking in the wrong place, I got myself myself lost. Everything I was looking for I already possessed and every solution I found with focused, deep introspection. Love yourself. Love your life. You are easily found if you just look within.

What this means for me is: we, the separate self, are searching for wholeness. But as long as we search, we will not find it. Then, either accidentally or because you've created the right conditions, the search stops - a radical halt. And the feeling of separation dissolves. Then you realize that the diamond of life was always in your pocket. The 'separate you' who was searching was the knot preventing the real you from enjoying the inherent wholeness of being conscious.

Often, we seek validation and understanding from others, craving their perception of us and wishing for them to truly comprehend who we are. However, the reality lies in the fact that our deepest essence, our true self, remains a discovery that only we can unravel. It's in the journey of self-reflection and introspection that we come to understand and embrace our authentic being. Others might see fragments or projections of us, but the entirety of our essence is a treasure that we alone hold. This insight underscores the significance of looking within ourselves to unearth our true nature rather than seeking external validation for a complete understanding of who we are."

The question that made me completely change my entire being, and every aspect about how I live, was the question of solipsism. Most people don't spend much time internally with it, but I was stuck on it for years. The way I see it, because solipsism IS possible, it's entirely possible that everything wrong with the world is coming from me. Subconsciously, unintentionally. But still my fault. And not to sound egotistical, but I do have my reasons for at least suspecting that reality is some weird cruel thing of that nature. Realizing that this could be the case, I started taking very real steps to change how I approached...well everything. And now here we are, humanity is pretty evenly split between ideas that were entertained and given traction for too long, and ideas that were always good ones but I very purposely ignored. Idk...I'm rambling I guess. But one way to change how you see yourself, is to convince yourself that solipsism IS the way of things. It's not, but living as if it is will force you to treat your people better.

I'm sorry that this probably won't help as much as I would like, but it is different for everyone. For some people, going out and finding themselves works really well. They go try a bunch of things, find a couple that really resonate, and fall into a life flow that really speaks to them. Others let life happen to them, examining what they do and don't like that has crossed their path, and taking those parts they've liked to define who they are. But plenty of others never reach a place of self-understanding, or what they are changes, and so the journey of discovery never ends.
The journey of discovery is singularly unique to each person. There's no timetable, no guarantee that you'll ever reach that destination, and if you do there is no guarantee that you will somehow feel this sense of peace/accomplishment/satisfaction that you have finally completed your journey; or that you will even like the results of your discovery.

This is the second time I watched one of these videos. Both times the story hinged upon someone who did something that took a lot of time and effort, and evidently they had the time and energy to do whatever it was they did. Both struck me as arbitrary - in one, a man spent a looooong time digging a koi pond, and in this one, someone goes into the woods for a loooong time to think and reflect. While I am writing this now, my time is not spent mainly as I chose. I have responsibilities that require most of my attention, and people depend on me - a wife, children, my own parents and other relatives, my employer - they depend on me to focus on my work - which feeds, shelters and provides. My own struggle is not some arbitrary thing. Rather it’s an almost constant pursuit of some kind of security, not just for myself, but for others as well. It seems this channel attempts to get at issues that address something like what I deal with, but so far the two examples I’ve seen are so linked to the arbitrary decisions of people who, it appears, have the leisure of making arbitrary decisions and meditating on their navels. I do get the sense this channel is trying to deal with things that affect lives like mine, but with two pitches, for me the stories, while well told and well presented, have been two strikes, because I don’t relate to having the luxury of doing whatever I please.

Searching for something you know nothing about will only be in vain because you will never find an answer for something you don't know. Instead let your life flow, as if you're reading a book. Let the story unfolds itself before your eyes and discover its truth in the ending. Live... let your life unfolds itself. No need to search for meaning and purpose in the middle because it will all be revealed at the end. So live and let life flow in the way its supposed to be. 😊😊😊

6:31 getting lost IS a terrifying feeling. But rule number one, for anything "terrifying" is simply *don't fucking panic* this story is beautiful. This whole channel is worth more than an outlet on the net forcing ads and informational "stories" under the guise of news and segments of a story you gotta click fifteen different b*llshts just to get through the next thing (we're looking at you, Funny-and) this comment only exists today and in memory 😅

The more you try, the worse things get. But it’s doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing a bad job.

  • @adomakins
    @adomakins 24 дні тому

    The best lines from this:
    1. "Getting lost is a terrifying feeling, but the key is to not panic. The more you panic, the more you try, the more you flail, the more you force things, the worse it gets. The people who survive are the ones who stay calm, trust their intuition, and stay the course."
We've all gotten lost before, when we feel like our reality has crumbled. It's normal to think that we've hit a dead end, and it's a good idea to not keep going. Whatever you've been doing probably hasn't been working. At that point you should reassess your options. Think about why you're on this path in the first place, and whether you still care about the destination, then find a new way to get there.
    2. "This whole time, you thought you were looking for someone else, and so, you were looking for nobody. We found the person, but the person was never even missing. They were a part of the search party the whole time."
This thing that you want to find is already part of you. The whole thing is a paradox. The answer is not to look in search of finding it somewhere else, because that thing is already within you.

He was feeling lost because he didn't where he was let alone WHO he was, so he was searching for someone he couldn't recognize, he was searching for "nobody", he has to define himself before he can find himself otherwise he will not know who to look for.
That is how it felt for me before I found myself. Excellent video.

In a way Brandon now has to reevaluate things that ground a person to a reality we may all want to escape from. In the commune time passed with little regard to a reason or a responsibility or purpose. Life comes calling in the form of someone else's emotions that then spreads to hopelessness, panic and negative probabilities. If I were Brandon I'd comment, "Well you found me, everything is fine and I believe you're all the ones that need to be found."

First it was a mature man. then, was more then one person missing. Finally, it was a young man missed by his parents?

    • @artificiallyunintelligent4537
      @artificiallyunintelligent4537 7 місяців тому +3

There was never more than one person missing. The man went out into the woods without telling anyone, and nobody was able to contact him. So his family thought he went missing. Usually when this happens people will find their car or something and start looking in the area. But being cut off from what was going on, the guy started helping with the search efforts, not realizing he was the one they were looking for.
It’s a metaphor for “trying to find yourself”. Self-improvement comes from within. You improve by understanding yourself better, not by finding something external that changes who you are.
