To that I say 'I'd like to think we are smart enough to understand and sympathize to fully comprehend such teachings, that it can be gained from second hand.
Pablo Razo to be honest the way I see it wisdom doesn’t come from us at all. I would like to think I spend a lot of time thinking, but no matter what comes out can you really say it came from you (disregarding the question of you). like when someone has a life changing experience and seems to have this flood of understanding and wisdom, even drugs have this effect even though your sloped over on a couch completely unaware of what happening around you. So I ask where does this thing we call wisdom come from maybe it’s just a construct but the fuck if I know. And probably never will
From my experience Wisdom is not something you seek. It comes to you just by events and living. If you intend seek it you’ll become lost and confused and be left with more questions than answers.
You know, at times like these, it really strikes me how much this one quote from Minecraft - yes, Minecraft - can ring with truth. "To tell them how to live, is to prevent them from living."
It does. I always come back there once in a while, I can't help but feel at peace. Reading those words on a screen. Really there's nothing wrong with taking wisdom from what is not necessarily meant to give advice. In The End we're just like kids, we copy others in order to understand something or because we admire a particular detail that seems good to us or maybe even out of curiosity. We just don't notice. It's really not the kind of habit that goes away (fortunately). Curiosity is really a blessing in my opinion. It makes for a open mind. And we're always changing, always evolving. And I certainly wouldn't mind learning something even from a game where gravity doesn't work properly.. And now if you don't mind, I'll just go watch the Minecraft ending again. B;P

My belief is "ya don't need a good memory if you tell the truth." This one has my name on it. I’m an actual Chris who got told ‘you’re too negative.’ I left everything behind and went to Asia …and have been here for the majority of my adult life (a long time). I absorbed all sorts of self help before and after leaving. I’m still me. I’ve managed to shut some of life’s noise out and to trust that I know what’s going to work best for me (cardio - nothing levels my mood like cardio). Advice? Don’t shy away from having experiences, even if you might be bummed out at the time. Moods and circumstances change😉.
So profound. Exhilarating and deliberate in its resignation, “To live it in its ordinary form is courage. To find meaning in its mundane meaninglessness is a sort of genius. To exist for the time one has and to do one’s best, that’s enough. It need not be more complicated than that.” Wisdom is ‘a means, rarely an end’. Reminds me of Taoism’s ‘Wu Wei’, the art of non-resistance, not trying.
For me, in the extremely short time we all have in this world, I want to spend my time enjoying myself. Sure we have ups and downs throughout this journey but that is the ride we are on and we can’t change that. Try to enjoy every minute you have on this earth. Love you all!
It's not the destination that matters most .. it's the Journey! And along the way we figure things out or we don't .. two people making the same choices will get different results and have different points of view .. honestly I feel that we get the encouragement we need when we need it .. the Universe/God preparing us by the lessons we personally need to learn. I try to encourage all around me .. you never know when you will be the one bit of advice that completely changes another's life for the better!! Health Harmony Peace and Love to ALL!! Stay safe!
make your way, never give up, and keep a beginners mind to keep learning new things. Face the challenge and happiness happens! May the force be with you!
I’ve been living Chris’s life for about a decade, traveled across most central, south, and east Asia, lived in many countries, been through most of Europe only to find the answers within. you you don’t have to leave the couch to achieve wisdom or answers. But it’s sure is fun and stimulating for the brain to explore other worlds, kids! it’s all within self!
Yet, I keep thinking that the first woman gave Chris the best advice: "Do not chase worldly pleasures or material successes, Chris. Do not succumb to the temptation of the moment. The only real is the eternal real. Work for what is hard but necessary. What is meaningful in the long run. Let go of yourself and dissolve into this. You only have one chance at this life; you must take it seriously and make something of it. Give up trivial pleasures and desires in consideration of the long game. Live and contemplate in the garden of life beyond you. Always be growing and improving and adapting. Leave your legacy strong and sturdy. That is what it means to live a good life." ❤
This advice can be dangerous as people can become obsessive over the future and what part they will play in it, I personally know this is something I struggle with and because of plainly overthinking I have missed opportunities in every aspect of my life, but that begs the question would I have even had those opportunities had it not been for this obsessive lifestyle?? I believe the best advice is that you have to realize that your mind will forever be stuck in between the future and the present. Not sure which person said this but I think it leads to the truth that you have to be selective in your lifetime of what moments you give your presence to and when it is necessary to contemplate the possibilities your life still has.
Hello. I just want to say that many years ago, I set out to study philosophy serious!y. Unfortunately, due to health problems, I had to abandon my studies, and as a result, became bitter, miserable, and felt a total failure. I agree... no one knows what to make of our time here.
May be life is not a puzzle after all.
We do not receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us 🖖
I object. You can certainly gain wisdom through teachings of people who have gone on that journey. You can make the argument that 'it won't be true wisdom' because its not experienced first hand. To that I say 'I'd like to think we are smart enough to understand and sympathize to fully comprehend such teachings, that it can be gained from second hand.
It's weird. We have to find our own way. But we are raised by those around us. It is a tricky dilemna.
And probably never will
On the real, I think A but I also think B too.
From my experience Wisdom is not something you seek. It comes to you just by events and living. If you intend seek it you’ll become lost and confused and be left with more questions than answers.
And at the end, the wisest answer was given by Chris himself.

The meaning of life is to learn how to not suffer, and to learn how to live, to make the good and the bad one. Everyone achieves that differently.
Yet, I keep thinking that the first woman gave Chris the best advice:
"Do not chase worldly pleasures or material successes, Chris.
