Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 should have been in this collection.
Jason Mead it can't. The publisher doesn't even have the tony hawk license anymore and even if they did they would have to remove the music.

Licenses can be very difficult to get. Sure, the selection could be vastly improved, but this solution is not realistic and might make the public even more upset if Sony can't follow through their requests for business reasons.

Everyone keeps saying Spyro and crash. There are remastered already. You get 3 games in one. The ps1 classic seems to be trash. Spyro and crash deserves better. Iv only played a total of 5-6 of those games on the “classic”. It’s a cash grab.
Alexmus The Gaming Boi If Nintendo ever pulled a Sony the worst they could do is make a classic n64 and put Superman on it. Remade games shouldn’t be on the classics. It’s a waste of space when you already can get it. Like golden eye they remade it for the Wii but I’m not going to throw a fit if it’s not on the classic N64.

Alexmus The Gaming Boi that’s just it everyone likes different games for it. I liked jetmoto, project overkill, vigilante 8, rally cross, driver, crypt killer, tomb raider. They tried to put something for everyone but I only really know 5-6 games out of the 20 they have on it.

To many licenses that relations have terminated over time.
I always used the d-pad for steering, only changed to using analog to steer on ps3, took a while to get used to it lol
Scitch2781 the original Gran Turismo wasn’t played with a dual shock. It was a ps1 game.

Andrew Kemp and notice right under where it says dual shock it says “and analog support” as well. It did not require a dual shock controller. Those weren’t even available in the states when I got that game.
Some were really good but I felt they were lacking.

The PS1 has such a rich library full of classics and this is all we can get. Disappointing...

@@misia_lina haha yeah, but the way I see it is that ps1 has way too many classics to limit them to just 20. And these 20 aren't even the best imo :) i mean. Alundra, parasite eve, Silent hill, parappa the rapper, Wipeout, castlevania for example. I suppose crash is not possible and spyro bc activision. And Wipeout for legal reasons like records on the soundtrack. Sure, parappa is enhanced on ps4 and they just released castlevania as well.

I absolutely love the original Rayman. Such a quirky, fun and beautiful game with an insanely mesmerising soundtrack. Cool to see it made the list. I've never played Final Fantasy Seven and a handful of others on the Classic, so may be worth picking up for me!

Most of the games on the list can be purchased for play on ps3/psp/psvita, so if you have any of those devices, save your $100 and spend a lot less to get only the games you want.

No Crash or CTR, No Tomb Raider, No Tombi, No Alundra, No SOTN, No GT, No Wipeout, No Tony Hawk to name some just wow.
Not at that price point. There are so many classic games on the ps1. They can't put them all in. People are comparing this to the snes mini, which is completely unfair. Also this will be hackable soon so you will be able to put your own games on it.
@@yousafkhan6921 Well I very much hope and yes I understand 20 games was always going to be difficult and people were always going to be disappointed but come on this could have been so much better, there are some very questionable choices here like Rainbow 6 and Toshinden and among others. For example Mr Driller? Yes fun little game I had on the Dreamcast back in the day but really seems pretty random indeed, I would have swapped that with Bust A Move as that was a popular puzzler during the PSX era.

It'd only take up a few GBs of HDD space and they're cheaper these days, so you could *easily* fit a fuckton of games on it.
Abe's Odyssey. I LOVED that game. Definitely one of my all time favorites. Then Twisted Metal. I put massive hours into both, Good memories!

I agree but Crash and Spyro I could see why they are not here as those just got remake for modern console. Symphony of the Night just got release alongside Rondo of Blood for PS4 so that may be why it's not on here either. Still no Silent Hill, Tales of Destiny, Klonoa, Tomba, PaRappa the Rapper, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire III, Mega Man Legends, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, Harvest Moon, Duke Nukem 3D, Tomb Raider, Soul Reaver, Tenchu, WipEout, Hot Shot Golf, Guilty Gear, Soul Blade, Chrono Cross, Vandal Hearts, Suikoden, etc. It just seem like it is not worth the $100 MSRP. Honestly they could had include 10 more games and beat the SNES Classic on just that $100 but they choose not to.

Smicapro Crash and Spyro likely was pointless with the remasters. Tomb Raider is definitely a big absence though.

I'm pretty sure i got a copy of it on my shelve and i'm from germany, so nope, not exclusive.
Though LoD was amazing, it was heavily in the shadow of Final Fantasy...still LoD is my favorite PS1 game

When i think of ps1 classic, games that trigger memories of me playing ps1 as a child i think of games such as medievil, time crisis,wipeout,tomb raider, gran turismo, wild 9, driver, croc, crash bandicoot, spyro, dino crisis, overboard, kula world and the list goes on, non of which are on this classic console

Now I can see why they kept the full lineup of games from us until now. Games that are quite frankly nothing but filler, like Cool Boarders 2 and Mr Driller should not be included, especially when you're omitting games like Wipeout, Symphony of the Night, Tomb Raider, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Silent Hill, Gran Tourismo, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, etc, etc. And this Classic is much more expensive than the Nintendo offerings, so they really should have offered more than 20 games. They really needed 30.

Am I the only one disappointed? Most of these games I've never played. Where's Legend of the Dragoon? Breath of Fire 3? Medieval? Final Fantasy VIII? Lunar: SSSC? Legend of Mana? Star Ocean: The Second Story? I know a lot of my list is jrpgs but I don't want them all on there but a couple of them would've been nice.
To be fair, FF8 is kind of a divisive one, although I like it too....

I still have a PS2 ( as well as PS3 and PS4) so I agree completely. Also can get the games that haven't been ported up yet on my PS2 (though I have to make some room on my memory cards😂) My point is that it is a waste of money whatever way you look at it.

Hey I get why we are all annoyed but jumping flash was actually OK, I played it with my sister when we were kids. Yes not a blockbuster game but it does hold some memories for people.
The reason why they're putting in jumping flash is because the compouser of that game died so they wanna pay tribute.

Didn't define the PS1 exactly considering it was released on PC and the Sega Saturn also. (it is a big omission nonetheless though) Also thank you for reminding me about the biggest waste of money/time I ever invested (again talking about the Sega Saturn) so once again thanks 😂
The games that defined the psx are ff7 mgs and syphon filter. Tombraider 1 was cheap and a disappointment.

If you wanted to make a case for why it should be included, perhaps the fact that it was the first game on Playstation to become platinum.

That's a pretty d issapointing list honestly... No crash? No spyro? No gex? No croc? No grand turismo? They are missing some HUGE PlayStation classics on the "PlayStation classic"
How could they NOT include the original Spyro trilogy!? With the HD remake coming out soon i figured putting the old-school versions on the PSC would've been a no-brainer...
On the contrary , they thought that it would cut sales from the remasters and probably they would be right cause lets be honest... If you had spend many hours playing Spyro all the way to the end on the classic and some short time after came out the remaster, would you pay 60 or so bucks to play again the same game with updated graphics? I believe that some would but others would not and that is a sale cut. I think its very bad the timing the chose to produce the console, or they could have included games like spyro, crash and medieval and delay the remasters for a year or two.
Are they going to add some games in the future via disc or memory stick? And were is Crash Bandicoot?! The Nr. 1 reason to buy a PSX in the first place?

This is... a rather disappointing line up. There are certainly a few games here that I'd be excited to play, but... really, Destruction Derby 1? THAT GARBAGE? You're better of going with the actually better sequel over the first. Wild Arms 1? You're also better off getting the sequel to that. Hell, Twisted Metal 2 would have been better. Most of the other games are quite "meh", with maybe a few exceptions.
For a non changeable, one time buy plug-n-play emulation box of classic games, it's rather weak on the whole.
Whatever, though. I have my PS1 still, and a good selection of PS1 games both on and off this list. No skin off my back, but I feel sorry for those that were hoping for better.
I was going to say the same thing! DD1 hasn't held up at all well but the sequel is still fun to play now!
Also, I'd have liked the first Broken Sword as well, another re-release wouldn't hurt!

The whole trilogy to be frank, we will not hear The Song Of the Nephelim here. Like this is the most disappointing classic list I've ever heard of. Where is Parasite Eve , FF8, Silent Hill, Cronocross, Street Fighter Alpha 3rd strike. I can't wait to lay into this "Classic" console on my channel. I will Negan the Hell out of it lol.

Was so hoping for xenogears, this is a very poor lineup of common games most people have. Who is going to look at that list and say wow I'm so glad cool boarders and destruction derby are included. 90% percent of old school gamers are not interested in them and if they do play them will say, I remember them being better than that.

I only have a PS4 now and if I recall some localizations or versions of Final Fantasy VIII has issues playing on PS3 and PS4 doesn't have it. So I'm stuck until Sony can be kind enough to enable the hidden and disabled PS1 emulator setting on PS4. Sony's excuse is either: lies (exploiters have confirmed that they do have an emulator built in), CPU architecture (so why can I play most PS1 games on a 64 -bit machine) or make people re-buy them when they already own a physical disc.

I think they deliberately left that off due to the fact that it's just had a re-release on the Castlevania Requiem compilation.
@@mikkdc yes correct but i still think they shouldn't call something a classic without one of its best "classic" games on the system. the games on it aren't that great besides the 4 or 5 i mentioned.
@@stacypare7955 Oh yeah, that I can agree with. For me the only 'Classics' on there are FF7, Resi DC, MGS, GTA, Tekken 3 and Syphon Filter. Perhaps Jumping Flash too just because it was the very first 3D platformer. I get they couldn't include Gran Turismo and WipeOut due to licensing of the music but what about Tomb Raider? Or Silent Hill? Konami's classic MGS is on there so why not include their other classic Silent Hill? All in all the line up of games is pretty poor tbh.

@@nezkeys79 You're certainly entitled to your opinion but the only thing I can see with the SNES Classic that they could have improved on was to add more games. Still considering what you get for the price it is an incredible deal if you're one who insists on being 100% legal. Me? I'm a dirty pirate and can play any game I want and I still bought a SNES Classic because it has a ton of games I love and the only official version of Star Fox 2. I would have bought a Playstation Classic but it is completely worthless to me.

The other problem i have is whether something has been remastered to modern devices which is true of the official list and my personal list also. I just dont really see the need for chrono trigger and DQ456 for example when i have them all on ds. I could make another list which only includes stuff you cant get anywhere on modern devices (like soulblazer) but then its not classic. Secret of mana however is apparently better on snes than ps4.
I take back my comment tho about the list being garbage as it does indeed contain many classics

I have some of the titles already. Persona is the only one I'd be interested in since I don't have it..I agree with some people's comments. But some of the games commented on not being on the classic have been or going to be remastered or remade for the ps4. REII, Spyro, Crash, & others. On the ps classic there should have been Tomb Raider, Grandia, Silent hill, Gran Turismo, Breath of fire 3 etc....Thanks Rob.

The CVR123 Ape Escape, Tomb Raider and Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver seems the biggest missing games to me.

no Nightmare Creatures, remember playing that game non stop at uni, no smackdown 2 or Silent Hill? Out of the selection there is probably only 2 game's I would actually play (Res 1 and MGS), the rest sadly don't interest me. Unlike the SNES which had loads of games I actually enjoyed.
I noticed that quite a few games were not included such as Dino Crisis 2, Alien Trilogy (quiet enjoyed that), Duke Nuken Land of the Babes (a guilty pleasure lol). Looking at the list of games the system had it had many great titles which have not been included which is odd. Maybe legal issues or something lol Also I'm sure there was a Castlevania remake on the Playstation? my gut feeling is saying Symphony of the Night.
Driver? Crash Bandicoot? Spyro? Croc? Medievel? Ape Escape? Tomb Raider? Silent Hill? etc. etc.

Ditto not having duel controller really let's it down. It's sales was poor then Nintendo released early info on their analogue controller for n64 and Sony jumped on that and result.
Sony’s going to be disappointed when they see how many people are canceling their preorders. If it turns out these systems are hackable like Nintendo’s are, maybe then I’ll buy one. Even then, it’s just a maybe.

You aren't wrong, but there are definitely some games in this lineup that are pretty bad, Revelations Persona is perfect example of a game that most players know has aged poorly, and is often seen as a butchered port due to the west's old tradition of "Americanizing" games

Is Revelations: Persona gonna be the same as the original US release? Or did they update it to be more faithful to the original game? Because that is probably the strongest selling point I'm seeing here since most of these other games I either don't care about or already have on another system.

@@alejandroderienosa4828 Me too. Keep the core gameplay the same (as this is what make them timeless) and just update the graphics, soundtrack and sound effects - just like the Crash and Spyro remakes and the upcoming MediEvil remake.
The idea was great, just not the execution; If it really had 20 of the best games covering all genres then it could have been as good as the SNES Mini and NES Mini (individual games cost way too much so it’s cost effective).

Based on their poor list of classic games, I very much doubt it. If you want upscalling try to find the games you like on the PS3. I don't see it happening since they are emulating the original PS1 which did not upscale. But we'll have to wait and see, they might surprise us and give us something we want. Lol
I dont know about upscaling, but this trailer makes them look like they play much smoother and not all blurry. I hope thats the case Twisted Metal is super blurry going back to play today.
I don't think it's just the graphics, it's the actual gameplay. SNES and NES worked well bc the mechanics are pretty solid (not in everything, obviously) but trying to resuscitate PS1 seems like a reach. I'd hand my kids a SNES to start their journey into vidjagames but I think setting up a PS1 classic would just make them vomit 😂
Tekken 3 what a game that was
I admit it--! I still have my PS2 because it still allows me to play the Syphon Filter games and the early Tekken games! My question is this: Will Tekken 3 include Gon and Dr. Boskonovitch? Neither was in the remaster for PS3, and those were two awesome characters to play because nobody knew how to block them!
