In this episode we're exploring an old Japanese clinic that has been sitting abandoned for nearly four decades. Filled with vintage medicine and medical equipment, the building felt like entering a time capsule.

@@Nighterlev True, but then consider just how impossibly many abandoned buildings there are in Japan for Japanese graffiti artists to "tag up"! Even if all of the "artists" tag a new abandoned structure every day for the rest of their lives, they still wouldn't be able to reach all of them; not even remotely. 😏

The fragility of man. An entire mans life gone under a bulldozer. No relatives, everything he was, was in those two buildings, and it's gone forever. At least this video exists, and leaves a time-capsule of this mans life, which is reassuring somehow.

Did anyone else's heart string get tugged when you realized as he turned the switch off on that Yamaha Electric Keyboard after playing a few dozen notes, that it was likely the last time ever that historic instrument would ever be played and it's likely demolished along with the building now.

I remember reading somewhere, back in the '60s, that if someone left his change behind in a telephone booth in Japan, it would still be there days later. I also remember in the James Bond thriller, "You Only Live Twice, " Tiger Tonaka told Bond that if a passenger in a cab swore at his Japanese driver, he would likely just get out ot the cab and stand on the curb until the rude customer departed. Of course, I don't know if either of these would still be true today, but it would be nice to think so. Stay safe.

Ah man, I’d have killed to have seen that.
I’m just fascinated by old medical stuff. I really hope some of that kit was donated to a medical museum.
Just a couple things for future reference.
The safe that holds controlled drugs is called a “dangerous drugs safe/cupboard”.
The little metal bucket with the lid that opens with the pedal is a really cool old piece of kit.
You fill the metal container with gauze swabs, you then put the whole thing in the autoclave to sterilise it with steam. This then gives you ample amounts of sterile swabs. Which depending on how strict they are, will be resterilised daily or they’d wait until they run out. This technique died out once autoclave film/bags became popular.
Some older vets will still use the old technique but it’s pretty much all died out now.
    Loved the video lads!

The spherical thing on the pole is a light. It's a carbon arc lamp, which produces extremely powerful light, hence the sun on the tag. The movable half-round bottom hood has openings plain or with tinted glass to control the output. It'd be used to treat fungal infections. The cylinder at the base contains the transformer. Seeing no x-ray machine, I'd guess this clinic only dealt with women's issues, and left broken bones, etc. to a regular hospital.

The Chinese/Japanese, like the Continentals, have perfected the art of imbuing everyday objects with beauty and grace in their functionality. Some of this old imperial stuff is just breath-takingly wonderful in its design; the eye chart, the microscope, the furniture... And the building, so exquisitely designed in every detail, inside and out. This is the kind of world I wish I'd been born in to. Thank you, guys, for taking us there and showing us this phenomenal place. It breaks my heart to think if it being gone.
As far as what you looked at, I think those were stainless steel speculums (or specula) there at 11:14 - something we ladies know rather more about than we'd like! And I think that standard lamp in the corner that you switched on might even have been an old sunlamp. I've seen similar on Ebay - the old Pifco ones look like them. What an incredible place.

Well, the structure could have been over 100 old, and looks like it was built to be a doctor's office. The x-ray device had to have been designed after 1913 (and should not have been used EVER.) The examination table probably from before the 1930s. So the place was absolutely in service in the 50s, and so it's a good call.
