Soo many abandoned places where the kids do nothing with the property after parents pass away. Sell the land and furniture. So strange they leave personal pictures and belongings
I can understand why families may abandon huge properties due to the cost of upkeep. What i dont understand why they leave the furniture, art, etc. At the very least, they could salvage those and sell them, instead of letting them go to ruin.
39:49 The wooden carved car would be called book ends. They are normally a pair of 2. Books were placed between them to prevent them from falling over.
If their ghosts are hanging around, they’re probably getting a good giggle out of your respectful but imaginative depiction of their lives. I love it. Love your tours.
There may be a lien against the house or maybe the memories are just too difficult to bear. From what it sounded like the husband took his own life after Maria died of cancer. The grandchildren probably can't do anything without parents approval. Its really sad. Its like everyone just disappeared into thin air.
Lesley, thank you for sharing this video. Everything is so intact and so many personal items left behind by the family. I love how the house has not been desecrated by anyone including you and your colleague. Even the alcohol! I love old architecture and this is one of my favourites. It is half timber framing common throughout Western Europe but mostly Switzerland, Germany and North Eastern France in the Alsace-Lorraine region. There is a variant of the architecture in the UK that is called the Tudor period around the last of the Tudor kingdom reign of Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I. Beautiful Castles, Chateau’s and Manors still survive well today because of this sturdy design. The filler in between the timber frames is called “wattle and daub” it is a woven framework of twigs or sticks that fits between the timbers, and a mixture of wet soil, clay, sand, animal dung and straw, that is mucked into the framework and settles as a thick dense wall. It is sealed with a whitewash. One of the oldest structural designs, it has been around for 6000 yrs. This castle in the forest may be older than it appears. The material in the foundation is the clue. Inside the house is a treasure trove of many finishes and furnishings that reveal the wealth of this family. First of all, the finish carpentry and interior trim is of Belgian walnut. I also see European beech wood and European oak. The large ornately carved dining room hutch is Belgian walnut and the ornately carved chairs are Asian mahogany carved or commissioned in France. The furniture and artifacts are probably as valuable as 10% of the home. Such a treat to see!
What a nice place! The bed and the dressing table in the bedroom are exquisite! The fog and the landscape make it all seem a dream! Thank you for this interesting exploration!
Leslie this was a great exploration of a very caring and loving family. You can tell by the nice furniture especially that chair,it was incredible. I can't believe it has been abandoned for 17 years. At least no one has destroyed anything in the house. Well I can't wait for next week's exploration.
This place and its contents should be preserved as a national treasure with security as live in paid for by the public purse. It's an absolute treasure.
It is not that people don’t care, nor that they leave it abandoned. This place isn’t abandoned at all, it is just that the kids and grand-kids live abroad and didn’t move in since their parents death. They have relatives going every month to take care of it, but since a few years and the whole exploring thing, people have been starting to brea in and leave the windows and doors open, that is the reason for the decay. If you were dispatched abroad for a few years to work, would you like people breaking into your house? There is a very good reason for them wearing gloves when “exploring”, they know very well that what they are doing is illegal.
@Bros Of Decay Hello Lesley, I know I asked you this before about places abandoned in Scotland, and you mentioned there weren't any. I recently saw a few castles that are abandoned, but I'm not sure if you're able to record them. Anyhow, i love your show! 😊

What an amazing find, so architecturally different to the usual manors in France. Very English Tudor on the outside. The furniture etc was amazing too, l hope someone saves them real soon! 🦘🤗🥰
The exorbitant inheritance taxes cause the children to walk away because they can't afford it. The same thing happens in England. It is too bad they can't at least auction off the furnishings
It's best to leave your earthly belongings while still here, otherwise any potential beneficiaries will have a difficult time dealing with legal proceedings and taxing. I find inheritance tax extremely unfair, people worked for / received their earthly posessions for decades of life, paid the taxes on them, now again these are being taxed, why? I find it cruel and cynical.

I'm quite curious as to why there doesn't seem to be a lot if any dust - my house gets dustier than that in just a couple of weeks - everything seems to clean to have been abandoned all that long ago.
In my opinion because someone keeps like this on purpose as if the people have just left. I wonder how the people from this channel got in too. You can't just enter through the door in such a house.
The untouched antiques in that place is simply amazing! And I especially like the gilded mirrors! Those mirrors were made using mercury that age over time and gives them a beauty that can only be made with time and they're highly sought after. The woodwork on the furnishings and the Tudor style frame of the chateau is pretty grand also!
When you touch things you should put them neatly back. You took photos out of a protective sleeve and did not put them back in the dleeve, leaving them out to get dusty and dirty. Same with the Anime book you left the cover distirbed instead of carefully closing it to return to its place. Much of the messiness in the house is likely from othet people exploring and not placing doors and windows closed as they likely where closed for years.
I really can't wrap my head around how it's possible that there's so much left behind in there. So many personal things and valuable artefacts and furniture. Either the entire family, including the grandchildren passed away, or they're inhumane, or some tragedy happened there... I just don't understand. And if the grandchildren are still around somewhere, like Sophie Traverse, why don't they come back to the place to claim their belongings, or at least some of them. I'm very curious to know what happened here and why it's left like this. Also: props for not looking through all of the things in the cabinet in the living room. I would probably scavenge though all of it. But you're very respectful that way. I'd love to do research on these kind of places and ask relatives, neighbors or town-members the big question: why did people leave everything behind? Love these videos by the way. Blijf ze maken!
What a grand old home so beautiful in its olden time ! So sad to see it's grand beauty going to nature! Must have been so wonderful for the family to have lived there ! Gorgeous furniture in the lady's bed room ! Sad to see how this loving happy family ended there. Thank you for showing us this lovey grand place and a look into a fine family life . RM.
Beautiful mansion! Incredible that there are no bathrooms, didn't people in that house take a shower in the middle of the 20th century? It was missing showing the small room and the attic. Good exploration. Big hug from Brazil
So, the trespassers not showing any bathrooms and the house not having any is to you the same thing. I doubt there isn't at least one bathroom there if they had a washing machine.

Why haven't there been collector's or scavengers cleaning out that place? So much priceless beautiful furniture and glassware. Are there no children or grandchildren that are laying claim to any of the contents or the the house and land?
The,"Patch/Emblem" with a sailing ship is the Coat-of-Arms of The City of Paris, France. The inscription (in latin)means Tho she is battered by waves she doesn't sink. She floats!Fluctuat nec mergitur ("[she] is rocked [by the waves], but does not sink"; French: Il est agité par les vagues, mais ne sombre pas or Il est battu par les flots, mais ne sombre pas) is the Latin motto of the city of Paris.
Wonder if the family had any involvement with the French Revolution at the time the government made them nobles. I know that the French Revolution was going on around this time it would be interesting to see how the family is doing or if they ever visit the manor even in the condition that it is in. It is always sad to see these things, but when you go and explore them you help bring them back to life. I hope you keep doing this keep up the great work. I love that you are in Franch there aren't too many manors in this condition and your shining light on them is amazing. Have you been to Norway is there anything like this there?
Is there any update if this place is selling? It's a shame to see it being taken over by nature. I'm sure there's a price for the right buyer to save it!

34:12 I don't know who was this fan of anime but has my respect for getting mangas in a time that was difficult to get japanese merch
You’re my favorite explorer ❤love how you explain things in detail and give us history and background on places. It’s almost like you were a noble in a past life 😊

YES hello good afternoon my friend Bro fo Decay
always watching your video sir god bless you all thank you so much
What an amazing find, so architecturally different to the usual manors in France. Very English Tudor on the outside. The furniture etc was amazing too, l hope someone saves them real soon! 🦘🤗🥰
No, the house is no English Tudor at all. It is on the style of a German hunting lodge
Typical of normandy.
@@juliaduncan1438 normandy calvados, typical of.
The exorbitant inheritance taxes cause the children to walk away because they can't afford it. The same thing happens in England. It is too bad they can't at least auction off the furnishings
Ok. But! Why don’t they take their family photos? None of it makes sense.
@Jenn-io3it The photos the clothes the toys, why they left everything behind, I wonder why;;;🤔
Cant they just sell it??!!
It happened also to our family. My grand parents (british living in france home, an ancient went to decay.
Leslie Hun I love how you intro and talk about the past life while bringing them to life.:)You say thats not worth it some rooms! @ i believe everything has a worth time piece to look at natural or decay it is the details that you bring light upon.:)Love all your explores nothin dull to see . Love you bunches Leslie a friend of mine to keep for many years to come i hope?.Besafe in life .
Hemos pensado exactamente lo mismo, yo desde el sur del planeta y tú desde el norte 😅
The untouched antiques in that place is simply amazing! And I especially like the gilded mirrors! Those mirrors were made using mercury that age over time and gives them a beauty that can only be made with time and they're highly sought after. The woodwork on the furnishings and the Tudor style frame of the chateau is pretty grand also!
i wonder why nobody looted that place?
Thank you so much lesly for showing us this beautiful castle ❤
When you touch things you should put them neatly back. You took photos out of a protective sleeve and did not put them back in the dleeve, leaving them out to get dusty and dirty. Same with the Anime book you left the cover distirbed instead of carefully closing it to return to its place.
Much of the messiness in the house is likely from othet people exploring and not placing doors and windows closed as they likely where closed for years.
Love the mist in the picture. Looks great 🎉❤
I really can't wrap my head around how it's possible that there's so much left behind in there.
Очаровательно!!!Я и мечтать не могла о том чтобы увидеть такой прекрасный дом!❤❤❤
Hi Lesley thank you for the wonderful job of showing these homes
And again my blood pressure rises dangerously as I always get so fucking angry when I have to watch those magnificent buildings crumble down.
Don’t have anger instead learn from it. Things aren’t permanent and this is why you should live everyday the best you can
@@kayleyholland5655 Thanks for your kind words. All the best!
Just too costly to live in them unless you're really wealthy
@@kayleyholland5655 : well said😊
Oh that is lovely. An abandoned castle in such a preserver state. A tragic history behind it. A chilling location surrounded by trees and mist. That definitely looks like my kind of dream house.
請問是什麼悲慘的事 啊 ;謝謝您
What an amazing picturesque place. Love the angles you did, just had to take a few snapshots of it. 😊
Love Love this!!! Great job Leslie always enjoy your adventures!
love your videos. thank-you for showing these places I'll never be able to see in my life time !
Fantastic location! Thank you for the journey.
I agree Lesley, an exquisite make up table and chair in the corner. Beautiful.
Always excellence and content that has a spiritual touch. Thank you
Beautiful mansion! Congratulations on the beautiful report.
Hi Lesley & Crew Friend, what a Gorgeous Castle of this French Abandoned Time Capsule!!😍
It`s a Shame, if Family Members, Didn`t want it anymore, Sell It, or Give the Rights away to the Village!!
Wonder Why the Village don`t Do Something With It, Before It`s Ruined?
Lesley, when wanting to Look at a Car, You need to Have Garden Shears.. to Cut Branches!!
Now in the Basement the Girl`s Bicycle was Blue, the Boy`s Bicycle was Red, had a scooter, motorcycle, snowmobile & lawnmower!
Beautiful Furniture Thru-Out the Castle & All the Belongings!!😍
The Wooden Car was 1 of 2 Book Ends that would be placed 1 one each side to Hold Books in their place!
TV`s Lesley, You Mentioned Only 1 TV Upstairs in that Bedroom, but there were 2 TV`s in a Hallway downstairs= 3
Thank You for showing Us this Gorgeous Castle & the Respect you have for Everything & telling us what You Know!!😍
Take care & Be safe on your Trip Home, & All Your Journey`s!! Have a Lovely Evening!! ❣
Love Barb from Central Illinois USA😎✌❤
I appreciate the respectful way you guide the viewer through this 'castle", I saw beautiful antiques and it gave me a nice impression of how these people lived in their time. I loved it .
Respectful way would be not to enter a private property in the first place, don't you think? (But maybe you don't.)
Love this place so beautiful! Love watching your videos! Thank you for doing what you do!💚💚💚
This historic mansion should be turned into a museum.
Beautiful home , look very big from the outside but small living space inside of the house, I did see only one and a half bathroom not a full bathroom room of this house, I wonder where they go for shower. and I didn’t see the living room probably didn’t have one but the dining area is very beautiful , it’s very interesting home indeed, historic home back in time , I wonder if this place belongs to the government, sad to see all the sentimental got left behind, thank you for sharing.
that's so odd that the family didn't want this home there is so much history there
Lesley, do you ever get contacted by a friend or family member of any of the locations you present? Love watching your podcast.
So nice! Amazing the first piece alone Im sure is worth so much! the thickness of the wood, plus the entricate details on the heads! Amazing! It must have been from over 150 years ago to be made so exquisitely!
The attention to detail these houses had back then is insane
The Rifle & the Dinning Table Did you notice the dinning table had a decent layer of dust on it's table top but the rifle seemed almost dust free ? I'm fairly sure the lack of house dust wasn't camera angle & lights . I'm just sayin.
Likely they'd already picked it up.
All the furniture in Marie's bedroom is reproductions, 1990s. We have that suite too.
Which parts? None of it matches.
You are the best what you are doing. Recently, i watched others who is doing your job however you are the one. Congratulations, sending my love from England. ❤❤
@@agnestraverse why not, life is already full of surprise until your last breath. If one day my home was a obendent house then he can most welcome.
I am sorry, but everyone is doing everything around the world.
This was a really good one! But of course they are all great! One of my favorites is when you boys did your grandfather's house. I love all of your videos. Keep it up.
Makes me wonder if something happened here to make them leave all this behind.
Greetings from West Virginia Your videos are always amazing!!
I'm also from WV.
Is there no way to find who owns it? If there is no owner, can it be listed somewhere and sold to someone who would be able to care for it or maybe even live in it? I wish I could spend the rest of my life restoring and living in a place like this. It is so incredible, fascinating and beautiful.
I noticed the cassette player sotting there also. Such a gorgeous place. ND😊❤❤❤❤❤LUV U GUYS, THANKS FOR THE. RIDE.
Really enjoyed your videos on this channel, keep up the good work!
This channel is a great opportunity to ponder on mortality and the absolute futility of hording material goods
And also ponder about the morality of trespassing on private property to film and make money out of it.
bro that first cabinet is worth so much money holy shit
Absolutely love yous, really interesting that you try an get info about most of the history. Keep up the great work informing the younger folks and discovering history .✌️❤️
I also, watch Adam Mark and laugh when, yous can't figure out what something is... that's just my age showing.😂
I’d just love to have that makeup vanity! WOW it’s beautiful the carvings and wood. It’s gorgeous!
Beautiful house. How can they just leave so much there to go to waste. It’s a shame
This looks stunning Lesley ,already rang 🔔 an subscribed lv Ann uk 🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️❤️
Hi Ann Smith, Kindest regards from Switzerland.

Great video Lesley & Dan
As always. Thank you

Never stop making videos like this! I really enjoyed every videos of yours:) so inspiring
Yeah, encourage braking in private property and filming without permission, way to go.
Its so good that you look at the photo graphs and check the backs incase of writing. Sureky more can be done to stop these places rotting away
Hi Bros, I love the video you posted , its great. Watching from the Philippines you have a very soft voice. God bless always
Watching it now , completely beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉,amazing so great ❤❤ ,so really made with talented hands❤❤❤
Very interesting! But who is watering the green plant? Or is it plastic?
Thank you Leslie. Nice tour. 💕
