Never understood the "sky is falling" mentality when it comes to proven coaches. Johnson was good at Arizona, and already won a Natty at LSU. I would argue the way the team was able to come back from disaster last year can be chalked up to steady solid coaching. Those kids want to play for Jay Johnson for a reason, and it ain't just the money.

Sure hope he works out.LSU's attempt to defend their Championship from 23 was shameful. You would of thought that they could of at least made it back to Omaha.
@@tomneff7030 they had to replace a pitching coach, lost Crews and Skenes to the draft. Admittedly, the chemistry wasn’t there early in the season, and the bullpen pen was rough, but at the end of the season few teams were playing tougher than the Tigers. They took the series against the runner ups to the championship at the end of the season. It wasn’t pretty, but it certainly wasn’t shameful. It was a young team that pulled it together at the end. Hopefully this season they start and finish strong.

I agree with your analysis. And the pitching was very inconsistent both the starters and the bullpen. Losing Skenes did hurt. But those kind of Aces are hard to replace. They had a similar problem when Aaron Nola left.i guess the key to getting to Omaha...is consistency on the mound.I forgot that they had to replace the pitching coach. But because they are the historically best team in college baseball...I would hope Jay would have no problem attracting the best pitchers in the country. Both out of H.S. and the portal.Maybe my expectations are too high.
@@tomneff7030 If you're like me, we were definitely spoiled in the 90s. The days of gorilla ball are gone, and finding annual championship contenders is increasingly difficult. NIL complicates it further, because many of these kids are looking for their bag. If LSU is going to continue to be at the top, it would certainly help if their NIL money was better. The good thing is, the pitching did get better as the season progressed, we just didn't have enough arms to finish it. I'm not really sure anyone was gonna beat Tennessee this year anyway. I suspect this next year will be an Omaha year.
@moatesoates Yes we were spoiled. I never followed LSU baseball until around 89. I believe that was the year Albert Belle was there. And I do realize it hat you now have money in your collective to get top notch players out of the portal
I noticed a lot of players decided to transfer out.NIL has changed the face of college football and baseball. Guess I'm too old school to accept that change. Such is life.If they make it back to Omaha next year....I'll take it.
LSU lost 87 runs of production, the greatest player in LSU history, and arguably the best pitcher to ever take the mound. On top of that, Hurd our projected Friday night ace was a massive dud who couldnt even come out of the bullpen, Kling was bust who cant even sniff SEC pitching, Braswell we whiffed on......do i need to keep going???
Is this crown jewel draft eligible? Is Dikingson MBL draft eligible? If he is, this is a waste of time. He will go pro, and we'll end up empty-handed.
He is not draft eligible this year. Will he at LSU for at least next year
