Thankyou this is very useful. I didn't know how to it with Arpache. Ended up trying the freeware BlueArp which could output the arpeggiated notes. But loading a cubase project that includes an instance of bluearp was buggy. This would have saved me a lot of time. Hope steinberg implement something in the future to streamline this.
Thanks for this great tutorial. I would like to capture midi data from a Kontakt instrument with no midi out but which produces arpeggiated notes from chords. Is there a way to achieve this? Currently scratching my head in puzzlement.
@@OneManAndHisSongs Thanks so much for getting back to me, my problem is I want to capture the arpeggiated notes from the actual instrument, not from an arpeggiator. If I use the method outlined in the tutorial, the result is a single chord. My approach at the moment is to record the audio, change the audio to midi in Variaudio and export the midi to a separate track which is not an elegant solution. 😉
..... none of this is necessary (as far as using "scalar 2" to mimic midi output, and using a transition midi track).... Try exploring the "Freeze MIDI Modifiers" option in Cubase. No need for wasting time letting it play to record output to a transition track. Just straight put your midi chord data into the SQ80 V01 track, add arpache insert there, play and hear output and modify arpache settings till you like the result, then "Freeze MIDI Modifiers". Done.
Hello Antony, Cubase has some cool build in Arps like "Tale of Arps". I was somehow not able to convert these generated arpegios into midi data. Is there a solution using your described aproach as well? I was not able to figure it out. Thanks in advance
The answer will depend upon the plugin. In that case it's a Halion Sonic arp, so if you create a track with an instance of Sonic hosting that preset, input your MIDI notes whatever they may be, go to the "ARP" tab in Sonic, click "Record", then press play in Cubase. Let Sonic record the whole arpeggio with whatever notes you've told it to, then once it's finished, disable "Record" and "Drag Recorded MIDI to Sequencer" (it's the little button to the left of the Record button.) Voila! One MIDI-based arpeggio :)
I'm trying to record my midi instrument in my midi guitar, but only can play the strings D, G, B and E. Why? I want to play the whole chords in the guitar.
Sorry, no idea. Sounds like an issue with your instrument. Off the top of my head the only thing I can think is that it has per-string config? Perhaps the 2 low strings aren't outputting any MIDI data, but it's not an area in which I have any experience since I don't own a MIDI guitar.
Perfect! Just what I wanted to know. Thx for sharing !
Glad it was helpful!
@@OneManAndHisSongs Wish I had your knowledge, can’t wait for Part II

The SQ-80 in this video doesn't have Midi Out either, but that's how I managed it. Did this approach not work for you?

I know that Merge Midi in Loop doesn't sound like it should. but try it instead of doing this cool vid. Oh under MIDI
