Thank you so much for sharing all these info's. I just got the helix floor and was having a hard time learning the unit. I am fan of the Morley wah and use it aggressively so that little Info was life saving. Once again thank you 😃
Thanks for the tip on the wah, dude! And yeah, with these units it can be an endless chase of amp and preamp types so I appreciate the advice you're giving folks to focus on a more signature sound with perhaps one amp type and starting simple and diversifying from there.
Great tips. Any chance you could share your preset for using a piezo? I also have a Fishman Powerbridge and run a stereo out of my guitar into the Guitar and Aux Ins. I've been doing that since the POD HD 500 days! But its always been a struggle to get a good 'acoustic' sound. Would love to see what you're doing. Thanks!
Appreciate the tips, Karl! Just getting started with Helix myself, moving over from my old Boss GT-1000. Still "finding my way" (Rush pun intended), so soaking up as many tips like these as I can.
Sadly, no. I was using Helix Native for the video and didn’t realize at the time that the meters weren’t there in HX Edit. Hopefully it’s something they’ll add in future updates.
Sorry for the wait. Just saw this. What I used depends on the environment. I play in an acoustic duo and do solo gigs where I'm direct to the PA. For full band shows I use powered PA Speakers (currently QSC K10s or 12s) for just my guitar and also send out to the PA. I put my speakers on the floor next to my vocal monitor so they don't interfere with FOH.
Are you crazy?! You can't do your high cut at 3k, that gonna sound like sh. . . hey. . . wait a minute. . . woah! No more 'wasps in a beer can' in my IEMs! Nevermind, keep up the good work! 😉
Pretty easy. I split the piezo into the aux in and then I can process it separately. I got a pretty good acoustic IR, then add a compressor and the tube mic preamp model and whatever effects I want. There’s a thing about it in the video.
Depends on what I’m going for and who I’m playing with. Generally between 120 and 150, but I’ve been known to go as high as 200 or 250 to make the overall band mix less cluttered.
Hi there David, Simon here. That's a good question but sadly I can't directly answer it but Karl will certainly be able to help you. I'll let him know you asked and hopefully he can reply to you below.
With the rack, I have the Helix floorboard and two Mission Engineering pedals. One has a toe switch, the other doesn’t. That’s all mounted to a Gator pedal board that goes into a nifty canvas bag.
Hello Hanrik, Simon here. That's a good question but sadly I can't directly answer it. I'll let Karl know you asked and hopefully he can reply to you below.
I don’t think I did anything. It was just there. I don’t remember if it always was. Have you updated HX Edit recently? They slip changes in there whenever they do a firmware update.
Great tips tricks thanks. Killer tones and playing

Great switchless wah tip! Thanks.

It’s been working great for me. And if I ever decide I’m tired of “my sound” I just have to switch amp models and I’m back in business.
Great simple, yet very informative video. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks A&E, glad you enjoyed it.
The Cab Hi-Cut tip is exactly what I have been looking for! Thanks!, and have Subscribed to your channel to stay up on your vids.
Glad I could help!
Great video! Thanks!
Well done and thanks !

Glad I could help! The 1000 was a great pedal. I can imagine the biggest step in learning the Helix will be unlearning the Boss. Good luck.
Cool video! Good tips. Heard you mention Allentown Pa? Where are you based out of. We might be neighbors 😂
Sorry I didn't see this until now. I'm in Wescosville, actually.
Hi, Thanks for the tips. It has set me wondering. Should I have these input and output DB meters on my HX Stomp, showing up on HX Edit?
Sadly, no. I was using Helix Native for the video and didn’t realize at the time that the meters weren’t there in HX Edit. Hopefully it’s something they’ll add in future updates.
SOUNDS GREAT KARL! I'm a new helix user. are you running direct into your pa? frfr's for your own stage monitor?

How can I hook up the helix for my piezo?
Pretty easy. I split the piezo into the aux in and then I can process it separately. I got a pretty good acoustic IR, then add a compressor and the tube mic preamp model and whatever effects I want. There’s a thing about it in the video.
What song are you playing in the intro? That sounded amazing!
Hi there Mirage and thanks for watching. That was an excerpt from our cover of Synchronicity by The Police.
Where do you set your low cut on your cabs? You said 3.4 on high cuts

@@everythingtoexcess Thank you for the info
What floorboard are you using there?

thank you sir!
How did you get that volume meter in the hx edit?
Hello Hanrik, Simon here. That's a good question but sadly I can't directly answer it. I'll let Karl know you asked and hopefully he can reply to you below.
And thanks for checking out the video. :-)

Update HX Edit.
@@Shadowcruise99 I have the newest one.. Yet don't have that meter.
Amazing intro….
All this talk about 3 bars got me wanting a drink my man
List starts at 1:30
Here's a tip. You are running your inputs too hot, on helix you want to stay in -12 db to -36 db range on the input
Thanks for your feedback (no pun intended).
I’ll check that out. Thanks.
How do I get the helix to show me the level of the inputs?
@@simonfiddes4726 I’m pretty sure you can only see it in Helix Native. Maybe HXEdit, too.
@@everythingtoexcess Ok, thanks man. Can't see it in HX Edit, as far as I know. Might have to look into Native. Cheers.
Awesome video my friend but masks?
Thanks mike and yes masks.
@@tribeofnames6189 But Why?
@@thesmallnotesduo Exactly - that was my first thought.!?
You lost me at Face Mask.
