- I ordered the Hollenbeck de Carne Asada Burrito at El Tepeyac Cafe in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles. What I didn't expect to get was a massive burrito that was not only delicious, but savory. El Tepeyac has been a neighborhood staple of Los Angeles for over 60 years since 1955, and it was a pleasure to give it a try.

I grew up in the area, eating a Hollenbeck burrito was a way of life, but there was no such thing as a mini. The original size Hollenbeck burrito is very big and yet there's a bigger one called the Manuel's Special - named after the owner (RIP). He was very much loved by the Boyle Heights/East LA community. This place is very well known to many, before COVID it would be nothing to see a line of people waiting to order some of the wonderful large meals. They serve more than just burritos. Glad that you had a chance to experience the true culture of Boyle Heights.
The burritos are huge there because the football players from CAL STATE LA the local college would go There to try and gain mass for football

Action kid, now you should walk down Alvarado street from Pico to sunset. You’ll pass langers delicatessen (Alvarado/7th) with its famous #19 pastrami sandwich!!! (BETTER THAN KATZ 🙈) try this place and compare to Katz please!!!! Go before 3pm when they close, it’s also right across the street from world famous MacArthur Park and you can ride the metro there.!!!
