Thoughts and prayers for your new home. Maybe call it the “Dressmaker’s Cottage”.

Keep the name, it acknowledges your past and describes your new future. After all a dressmakers closet always changes, creating new items and keeping familiar designs.

How about keep the name. It's your past and it still will be your future. You could add to it The Dressmakers closet "And clips from my Victorian home renovations. As that's exactly what you will be doing. Grief can cause such unbearable sadness that sometimes you can't see thought the fog. Keep going this is your new beginning.😊

Oh sweety, I understand you so well. My husband died in 2014. He was only 47 years old. I had two older sons from a previous marriage and a 5 year old then. My life was in a haze as well, the first months, just existing and soldiering on, for my little one and of course also for my other boys. Before my husband died we had bought an old house, built in 1903. There was and is still so much to do. But the old house was and is kind of an anker, something that gives me a purpose. The renovation, allthough slow, and my crafts, my children, give me the strength. Some days everything seems overwhelming, but then I just go 1 day at a time. An old house like this needs a lot of patience and love. It is almost like a living thing. Good luck with your new life Jane. It will be awesome. It will be different, but awesome.
How about naming your channel: Jane`s Journey - my crafted life. ❤

Ah bless you my lovely. I saw this post very soon after you posted it and thought I'll consider my comment before I send anything. Then all of a sudden a few days have passed! Grief is always hard and I can't comment on your particular loss, as it is so personal to you. We can all make suggestions as to how to cope, because but we can't be there with you. Whisking you out for a coffee or something. All I can do is send you a virtual hug. 🫂 I do know exactly where you are coming from with your Victorian Terrace, as I had one too. Looks as though it was in a similar state. I loved it. It had a tiny little postage stamp garden and I set about making a little paradise for my cats Rosie and Clover, hoping they would stay home. (They did for most of the time). Have you got a cellar? Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Keep posting and hopefully we (your followers) can bolster you up. ❤😊x

I’m so sorry I can empathise with you ! 🥲😘🙏
I lost my Brother in 2006
He was only 39 - he was a missing person for 5 weeks following a colleague’s retirement night out in Lancaster!
He was seen walking down penny street on CCTV with the man who was retiring who offered him a lift as his wife was picking him up , but he declined which was typical of my brother as he wouldn’t want to put anyone out!
He went to walk the river path to the next village but never arrived home!
Despite a large search he wasn’t found by police and teams/ searching the river and surrounding area , but was found in the river at 5 weeks later by a man out walking!
He had just bought a brand new motorbike and was looking forward to our Nieces wedding!
We miss him terribly it’s horrible not knowing what happened that night!
The inquest said accidental death but were unable to confirm drowning!!!
Since then I developed Fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue/ME - it’s been very very difficult we are heartbroken 💔
My heart goes out to you and anyone affected by tragic loss of a loved one!
I’m a early retired Nurse so I’ve had a lot of experience dealing with families in Grief!
Everyone’s Grief is their own and everyone has to go through the waves in the own way, there is absolutely no time scale!
Grief is the price we pay for Love!😘
Hopefully you can find some comfort until you meet again!
      ❤️💜❤️🕊️🙏

You absolutely made the right decision buying the house
I think that you should keep "dressmaker closet "
It's your signature and those who Don't know you may not click on your videos if you are "jaynes journey " they won't know what a wonderful dressmaker and pattern designer you are ,so they will miss out getting a pattern and sewing advice
You always shared your garden and home before

I have been looking forward to your return, I am sorry you have been feeling so blue. I lost my husband at the same time you lost John and for a while I was so busy with sorting all the household stuff over to my name and getting rid of all the things I no longer needed plus I was having some renovations done too. Time marched forward and I was semi ok but then autumn and winter came around and I was lost, I dont have friends or family so I am alone with my cat. Christmas came and went then spring arrived and I thought I would start to feel better but I just felt worse. I have been told the first two years is the worst but I think I will never feel the same again. I can understand how you feel and if you want to take us along on your journey with finishing your new home I will really love it. You could rename your channel Jane the Dressmakers Journey it covers what you do and the journey you are taking in your life, its just a suggestion. There will be ups and downs but you must soldier on. And relax in your favorite place. A garden and your sewing room. All the best to you. Congratulations! You did it! Keep the same name. And the last time I sewed as a kid living at home or my first apartment…the kitchen table worked for me. Even an old time card table. Then the whole table shakes when you are sewing. I have to laugh at that.

Jayne…you are amazing. I can only imagine how difficult life has been for you since your Darling John passed away. But wow look at you. He’d be so proud I’m sure. Congratulations 💗 I’ll definitely be following along to see all your progress in your new home. Have you thought of keeping your sewing Channel and starting the new one just for the house renovation. Home and Garden for one and sewing and creating ( such as things you might make for your new home that not just includes sewing, but painting objects. Woodwork, revamping pieces of furniture etc) for the other. Don’t become overwhelmed though. Just take your time and enjoy what you’re doing. Can’t wait for the tour. 🤗

First, I would like to say that I am sorry for your loss. Give yourself grace to do what you need to do for yourself.
Also, I am so excited for you getting a new house! I am from the USA. I am looking forward to watching your journey.

You should keep the name because the channel and your business are supported by it. You could open another channel but not sure you have to. There is another channel / Indy pattern designer who switched content to home renovation who did not change the channel name: Pattern Scout. You may want to ask her advice since she is several months in already.

Congratulations on the new house. I would keep the name. I’m sure you may still do some hand sewing here & there as you must miss it. Look forward to see the results of each room. Best of luck ❤

I am a new Subscriber and discovered you from your home reno thumbnails as I do not sew! I love the way you are so honest and open about your situation. I lived in the North East of England (I am now on the west coast of Canada) but I did have a 1930's terraced house as a single female when I lived in England. I really miss the historical details of British houses. Forgive me for being picky, but isn't a house built in 1904 classed as Edwardian seeing as Queen Victoria died in 1901?

Renovation Jayne? Congratulations on taking such a massive step! I cannot wait to see the hour tour video. I lived for a year in England in 1983 and we lived-in a Victorian Terrace house. It was lovely but really cold in winter so I hope you get your central heating sorted soon.

It was really heartwarming watching this Jayne 💗💗🥰🥰 People say things get easier, but I think you're right in that you will always feel the loss...but the nature of grief changes over time. The change you've just made is proof of this! Amazing news, I'm wishing you all the love in the world.

I’m absolutely made up for you Jayne, you’re incredibly brave and live up to the mantra ‘Feel the fear but do it anyway’. If only you could see yourself in the same light as we all do, you’d see just how amazing you are. I love your Channel name but if you still want to change it, how about ‘The Dressmaker’s Chronicles’ it has a slightly Victorian vibe to it? Anyway wishing you so much luck and sending lots of love. You go girl. 🫶💕🥰

Jayne, I'm so glad you popped up again. I can totally identify with you. My husband was full care for 6 yrs before he died 9yrs ago. It's still very difficult 😢. Now that my children are moving on with their lives (which they should) I find the aloneness difficult. Certainly keeping busy is essential. I'm delighted to see your new home and Certainly will follow your progress. You'll do a fab job as always. Be kind to yourself. ❤

I wish you were my neighbor (I'm in North Carolina...so....quite a distance there). But, maybe you should call your channel "My Neighbor, Jane". I love, love, love your new home and I wish you every happiness and all success in your new life. I've followed along with you for years from crochet to sewing to whatever you are up to!
