Another great lesson. I love jig fishing so much that I usually have 3 jigs ready to go. I've done ok with pitching jigs but I want to get better with skipping and swim jigs this year, Thanks again for helping me to be a better angler.
Good video. Thanks for the tip in prior videos about boss jigs. 4 pack for $4-$6. These allowed me to really find confidence jigs and now I always have one tied on.
This is a great video. If you come down to or close to Hattiesburg Mississippi please let me know. I am going to be 76 in January and I don’t drive a long way.i would love to take you fishing on my 4 subdivision lakes in my Bass Tracker.
Great video Tyler, it was very informational. I LOVE fishing a jig is is such a confidence lure for me!!! I have probably caught more fish and big fish on a jig than any other lure. Keep up the great work pumping out awesome content!!!
Can you do a video on natural lake fishing, like the Harris chain in lake county Florida. Everyone talks about all other lakes and rarely get into the difficulty of a natural lake.
Like you, I keep a jig tied on all year. It’s my favorite lure. You had several nice tips in this video. I’ve noticed slot of the lures you use in Ohio, also work nicely here in Louisville. Appreciate the jig insight.
So many of the utube shows focus on reservoirs which are often rocky with lots of points and arms. What about us in the upper Midwest on small naturals round weedy lakes?
I was wondering if you can swim any jig or does it HAVE to be a swimjig. I must be honest and say that i have 4 jigs but nearly never fish them. I want to buy a few swimjigs but first want to fish the others a bit more and thought that they might be used as swimjigs as well.
Some good info, didn't know crawfish spawn at 50-55 degrees , fished two lakes this weekend, Dale Hollow and Lake Tansi both in Tennessee , water tempos were 46 and 39 respectively , in colder temps do you down size your jig and trailer and how slow do you fish them when its this cold?
I definitely downsize a lot in that situation Mike! Usually I am fishing a 1/4 oz finesse jig with a smaller junk trailer. If you watched the video I did on the 4 S of cold water fishing. I pretty much talk about what you are referring to
Sup. Another great video. Will help a lot. My hardest thing is a football head jig, do I use it like the structure jig you talked about? I usually just steady retrieve it? What's best way to use a football head jig please lol? Tyvm
Football jig is great for dragging on rock and shell bottoms. I have also stroked a football jig on deeper structure. It’s also the jig I typically will use hoping down a rock bluff. It’s not going to come through grass the best. If I am fishing around wood that is offshore I typically go with a structure jig or Arkie style jig
Honestly on hard days of fishing or in genuine I fish a lure that looks like a certain baitfish like a golden rat trap looks like a golden shiner and I get a lot more bites and hits but what ever works best for your water go for it.
Swim jigs I go verticle to make it through grass easier. Fishing the bottom or wood like a football jig or flipping jig I do horizontal. If I think I'm running into both I go horizontal so there is less chance of getting hung up in wood
So, if you want to, or are going tornament fish. Jigs, plastics(worms, and creature for flipping), crank baits, and spinnerbaits Those are 4 lures you need really fish with, practice with, and try get as good as possible. This will put you ahead of the curve. 4 true , and tried big bass killers!
So I have a quick question. In my area all the lakes are covered in milfoil and other super thick grass, so using a jig is kinda hard for me. How do you recommend I use a jig in that kind of environment?
That can be difficult depending on the depth of the milfoil and if you are fishing from a boat. Usually one of the better patterns is pitching to outside milfoil lines but you typically are making small pitches and not long casts
@@BassFishingHQ the grass is usually very shallow, I'm talking 5 feet deep and there's already grass there. I'll keep the short pitch in mind, thanks for the tips!
I grew up fishing in Florida through up in Florida I used to fish the pond on the golf course Lake Okeechobee different lakes I would either use long skinny worms on a weedless white plastic minnow and depending on which lake I was in medium or large crankbaits none of that stuff seems to work now that I live in Maine my colors don't work I don't think I've ever gotten anything to look at one of my crankbaits but I want the few videos of these kids fishing up here using Jigs and now I'm starting to get into it but where does this dude live cuz what he's saying may not work where I live
@@antoniowalker7243 I don't catch many fish on jigs. Possibly because I don't throw them very often due to lack of confidence.... because of not catching many fish on them.
Fair warning, I literally just scheduled a video for today that’s nearly identical in topic to this! Just saw this and couldn’t believe it!! Haha, don’t want to be accused of “copy catting” 😂 😂😂 great vid man
Just lost a Googan Baits Filthy Frog (same as your favorite) with a 5lb plus large mouth on one end of 30 test braided line... so F'n BUMMED. Brand new, $12.00 and first day out with it.
Good tips Ty do you ever swim a arkie style head or a jig with a vertical line tie.I know the vertical line tie comes through grass better .I'm talking open water with more rock.
To be fair, saying youd only use a jig for the rest of your life is like saying youd only eat salad. There's so many different types that you're pretty much covering all your bases

Tyler great break down. Used to fish jigs back in the 80's when I fished club tournaments . They were my favorite. Thank you so much!!!!
That's awesome lure for casting & jigging giant snakehead, hampala in Thailand
The freedom tackle structure jig and the dirty jigs LC finesse jig are my go to's. Black and blue and hammer colors are on 🔥
Good video. Thanks for the tip in prior videos about boss jigs. 4 pack for $4-$6. These allowed me to really find confidence jigs and now I always have one tied on.
I fish with a number of jigs, and I still use those Boss Jigs from time to time
sick cast under that dock

Jigs are a great lure to use. They sure do catch em

I'm not a jig fan, but this info has encouraged me to experiment a bit more with them. Thanks!
Throw the jig, you'll catch bigger fish. No doubt
Absolutely FANTASTIC lesson, there professor!

Love jigs. Great job Tyler
I totally agree. Jigs and whopper ploppers are good bass catchers
I dont have nothing but muck in my lakes on bottom .What should i concentrate on reeds and laydowns thats all i have in the several i mainly fish?
So many of the utube shows focus on reservoirs which are often rocky with lots of points and arms. What about us in the upper Midwest on small naturals round weedy lakes?
Yes I didn’t talk about that much in this video. I have been thinking about making a series of videos devoted to natural lakes. Gonna have to do that
I need a good jig for grass , stealth fighter cage jig you prefer? Great info too ..... thanks again!
That was a awsome vid. I love to fish a jig.
I love a jig as well!

Great video Tyler, I have one question. Do you ever trim the weed guards, or do you leave them as they come in the package?
Actually about to do a video relating to this. Depends on the brand, but I do typically trim the weedguard
Another great video!
I think you have the hardest hook set I have ever seen! Shocked your poles dont snap.
Those Okuma rods don't break.
Thanks love learning about jigs God bless be safe keep it
Do you use a black and blue trailer with the same color jig or do you mix it up
Love fishing jigs!
Love your vids always an educational experience, keep up the great job

Great info as always man 👍
I love it when you get on a jig bite
What kind of knot are you using for tying jigs?
I would always use a palomar knot if you are ever indecisive about what the right knot is for any type of line
Are we not going to talk about the sound of the hook set at 5:10 to 5:12 it sounded like a golf ball being sent into orbit.🤯

Just curious what is the Jig Trailer shown in the thumbnail of the video?
Berkley chigger craw

For me it would be a 3-4" swimbait... most likely a Keitech in Sungill or Ghost Shad
What about the football flipping jeans

I appreciate the comment this time. Thanks for watching!
Love jigs good vid.I think the jig is any Ohio anglers best friend simply because you have to junk fish a lot on our lakes.
Yes we do! Sometimes it hard to get 5 bites on one in Ohio but when you do!!

God is good
This only works if you have a boat.
Learning how to use a Bait Caster and fishing jigs are the two top reasons a lot of people are intimidated by Bass fishing.
