- As you guys know, my mom, Dolly has recently been diagnosed with cancer and is usually upbeat abd positive, but I see her struggling.
At the same time, her best friend has passed away and she’s dealing with the sadness of her loss.
Despite these challenges, she is determined to remain optimistic and find ways to stay happy.
She shares some of her strategies for dealing with stress and sadness, such as exercise, reading your cards and letters, talking to friends, and taking time for herself, and maybe choking a punching bag 😂
This video is a reminder that even when we have dark days, we can still find ways to be happy.

Funny story: I arrived at a patient's home to find him frustrated. His daughter had given him ALEXA. He told me to "box it up or throw it in the garbage because it doesn't work." I asked what was wrong with it and it said, "watch...AMANDA, WHAT TIME IS IT?" No response. It took all I had to keep from laughing. I told him it's not AMANDA, IT'S ALEXA. Thought I'd share that to lighten things up. ❤

I caught my dad calling Alexa , Siri.
I told him that’s on my phone.
He had called Siri , Seersi. Lol.
And then now it’s Alexis instead of Alexa. 😂
My husband recently had a heart attack and bypass, my relatively new car blew up, our kitchen faucet flooded, I accidentally started a fire in our oven, and this morning a storm caused a fallen tree in our yard. It's okay to be angry when life is upside down. It will get better for both of us.❤

Gio is right...VENT to him, to us when you need to. Don't keep the emotions in. The body chemicals it helps relieve are toxic if you keep them inside.

My Daughter told me they did studies on people that watch the same shows over and over, and they found that it's because the familiarity of the story line and characters gives them comfort. no surprises or anxiety. So in short its comforting.

It's ok to feel stressed you are going through a lot. Please remember you are not alone and you have alot of people who care for you. You are allowed to feel stressed gripey happy sad etc just remember people care and we believe in you. This is from someone working through cancer. Keep fighting and know you have many people who believe in you. Take care of yourself rest and your family too needs to get rest as well praying for you all 💐💐💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

She is so cute! I’m on my 5th time watching Downton. She probably loves it because it’s a time of respect, family and manners. We have lost so much of that in the world we are in now. So this series gives you a good feeling when watching it. Keep dancing!

My mother was the same with shows. She’d only watch law and order. The theme song was always playing in the background anytime I called her.
I am an RN who has done case management for patients who have gone through these type of problems. Maybe you should hire a case manager to handle these issues. I have also been a patient and have had to deal with these things. Hope and pray everything gets resolved.
I have also told certain people to keep their meds. Couldn't write exactly what words I used:)

Aww she’s dealing with so much an she has to be alittle depressed, but she’s a fighter, she puts on a brave face most of the time but the pressure catches up. She’s lucky to have such a caring son. Just talking let’s out the stress. Please tell her I admire her strength an give her a hug. I dealt with PTSD so I know how stress an anxiety work. We all have these challenges but things do get better. She’s in my prayers.

I will be 76 in September and I certainly can relate to all you say. I love Downton Abbey and it's on 24/7 at my house also and my kitty loves it too I thought I was the only one. My Mom, who I care for, is battling cancer, and every day brings something new. I feel so badly that I can't do much to make her feel better physically, but I make sure that we have a conversation everyday, that ends on a positive note. Love, and positive energy sent to Beautiful Dolly.
You being there for your Mom is the Best you can do for her. I pray she can survive it. This is a hard time,but hang in there and treasure those moments w/ her. I hope she is able to share as much of her thoughts and memories and you both make more good ones together. I have no regrets spending the last days with my Mom when I could. And my Grandma. I'm with mom! I can watch D- A over and over, forever! I have the same issues with my phone, it is my best friend and my worst enemy. I'm 73, did not know anything about a computer until my late 40's and have had this smart phone 2 years. My kids have very little time to help me, listen to me, and especially, to visit me. I can count on 1 hand how many times 2 of the 4 have visited me in the past 10 years. They live less than 5 miles away. I had to stop driving 8 years ago, senior's bus for me,within my small city limits. A godsend! Bless you Gio! You are an honorable man!

I understand why Gio doesnt want Dolly running. Its important, especially during these trying times, to retain every possible skill. When shes not feeling dizzy, she can probably run safely, especially with the handles on her "walker." That cracked me up.

Watching the same or having the same playlist playing over and over is actually a coping mechanism. If people don't like stress, your momma, then it keeps you calm. ❤ I have been watching Fresh off the Boat for 9 months, ha!!

Oh no, your right, I was not thinking of her medications, this is an herbal flower. She should consult her physician or possibly google. To much work that may contribute to more stress. I sure wish her peace from the hectics of life.

Downton Abby is a really wonderful show! I hear you- One of my favorites of all time. I agree with you on most every response you have. .I say I hate my phone also. My husband bought me a very expensive one and it drives me nuts. I can't wear high heels though. Sometimes, things do catch up with us and can drag us down a bit- Exercise does help --Walking is great for you. You also have a wonderful son. That in itself is such a huge blessing! You must have done a great job as a mom. 😊😊😊

I would allow myself a quotation "pity party" everyday for no more than 10 minutes then go on with the rest of my day. It made a big difference for me to get through

Another British TV series that Dolly would enjoy is "Brideshead Revisited". It was one of Jeremy Irons earlier roles (1981). Set in the 1920s through to the 1940s; storylines of the lives & loves of characters residing in palatial castles in the English countryside. 11 x 50 approx. min. episodes (Not to be confused with the 2008 film version, also based on the novel).
However, to unwind and to have a silly laugh, my partner & I have been watching an episode of the cartoon "Top Cat" each evening. Much different now watching it as an adult. Top Cat (a victim of circumstance) is always trying to get ahead by getting his gang (of cats) involved in unscrupulous 'business' ideas!
BTW, I was looking forward to Oppenheimer, but I wanted to see it at the IMAX cinema. It sold out very quickly there recently, so hopefully I will see it next time it's screened.

I'd be pleased to sit with Dolly and watch Downton anytime! I love the show: the characters, the history, the clothes, hairstyles, the bearable drama, the total escape from our daily reality. My favorite "silly show" is Keeping Up Appearences.
I just dealt with my health insurance this morning, frustrating, angry, and I was just done with it all! I’ve been super stressed these past months about several things. Better now, but nothing completely settled yet. I’m down, but when I go for my morning walk, I just cool down, and thank God for all my Blessings, which I have many. So I understand the frustration you are feeling. Take care!

I love your hat! I understand your frustration. I am having the same issue with getting the injection to stimulate the bone marrow to make red blood cells. So it went on & on until I ended up in the hospital for 3 days and having 2 blood transfusions. It is SO FRUSTRATING and sometimes it is good to just have a big cry & get it all out. Be so glad that you have Gio that understands & listens. It is good to vent. I have to go here on UA-cam......that's sad! Stay strong! I celebrated my 71st Birthday yesterday. I am so thankful for that. Listen to Gio!

I went through a very stressful few years (illness related) & watched The Waltons over & over. It was the only show that held my interest. Helped me through a very stressful time. Now ironically enough, I'm stuck on Downton Abbey.

Hang in there Dolly ! I can remember 14 years back getting up at 2 am & taking long bath's or sitting in the Jacuuzzi ! You just let it out girlfriend ! Then whe the Dr's ticked me off I went for therapy & they gave me the best therapist ever ! They know what you are going through & helped me so much ! Just to have someone that gets it helps! Do what makes you happy sweetie & keep those who get you close by ! Love you & Gio ! You will push through this! Shopping work's for me also! Just a few suggestion's that worked for me ! 💕💕💕
