When players sat out rather than face Larry it was known as Bird Flu!
its cool that bird gave props to kemp for his effort and reached out to him.

If i remember correctly the Celtics had a chance to draft Kemp but they passed him up. They also passed up Tim Hardaway. Had they picked either one of those players the Celtics would have been relevant throughout the 90s even with the unfortunate deaths of Len Bias, Reggie Lewis and retirement of Bird and Mchale. That draft pick was their last chance to keep the team from fading out due to age, death and injuries.
Larry LEGEND Bird was the greatest all around player EVER
Kemp had 6'10" height ,over 7' wingspan, a 42" Vert and 20 year old energy.
Legend still ate like a king!
That was an old, beat-up Larry at that point, but he just had to re-adjust the rookie's mindset.
But then he picks the kid up by offering to help him in the offseason. Class.

I’d like to preface this by saying that I played basketball in NYC in an all primarily black high school and got my nick name from the brothers playing at The Cage and at Rucker Park. We were all trying to emulate what Larry Bird was doing on the playground and it was impossible for us. However, I remember hearing what Pat Riley said, “If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game, I’d choose Michael Jordan, but if I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life, I’d take Larry Bird."
He got his Knee Pain after reading the article about Larry Bird being washed up 😂. And he didn't want to go Against Larry Bird when He's on a Mission!!! Kemp just happened to be the Unlucky one 😂. Larry Bird LEGEND G.O.A.T. Not Michael Jordan and Lebron James PERIOD!!!! Larry Bird.

When I think of Reddick I believe he is overrated every way possible.

I believe by the end of the Laker Catastrophe coming in the 24/25 Season J.J. and Lebron won't be friends anymore.

Kemp was a freak of nature, 19 or 20 when he came to the NBA. I knew who Payton was, Skyline was all conquering with him, kind of like Jason Kidd in high school, looked like a grown ass man playing kids. Then Kemp is doing that stuff to Wayman Tisdale. Kemp was just stronger and jumped as high as he needed to for the boards. He got WAY up there, total beast

The sun rises and the sun sets, and so it is with every athlete's career. Every once in a while a very special athlete comes along that has the magic combination of huge self-driven motivation, an abundance of talent and an unstoppable work ethic, and we kid ourselves into thinking they will play forever. We forget that their level of play takes a huge physical toll on them. But it sure is sweet when that player, in the sun set of their career, steps up and reminds us why we loved them so much in the first place. Larry Legend my personal choice for 👍🐐👍
Let's remember Shawn Kemp was a bad dude I think people forget how awesome of a player he was!!!!💯

My Nephew who was a natural athlete and no longer with us was a Sean Kemp fan when he was a boy. He wore a Celtics hat, but there was a Sean Kemp poster in his room.
Man, basketball back in the day was so much better.
I am not trying to be an old head, but basketball had that little more grittiness and people stayed on their respective teams instead of jumping around.
Side note I hated the Lakers, but to this day I will tell you they were the best I ever watch play.
Reason I think Bird is the greatest to play the game was the fact he could even find a way to beat that Lakers team in the 80’s. They were just that good.
Larry bird is my favorite small forward over lebron and everyone else.
If you ever saw him play in person, you'd be more amazed.

Loved the Reign Man, so much fun to watch. He and Nique were the first guys that dunked with artistry and force. Love the fact Bird a slow unathletic dude humbled Shawn. Imagine the guys in the locker room after the game teasing him about getting busted by Larry.Also Shawn is a great story teller too. Hes also has some nice cannabis stores in Seattle
He really was not slow and unathletic for a 6-10 1/2 double-digit rebounding guy.

The crazy thing is from that game if you watch most of LB shots are from close to the 3 pt line. If he would have backed up 2 feet he probably would have nailed 50 pts that game

I can understand how he did not 'know' who larry bird was. I wrestled someone in HS who became an Olympian 6 months later. I lost very quickly, and had no idea who he was until after.
I use to love watching Kemp play.
