      I live in Russia. We teach our child Bashkir, our native language. But our 1,5 year old son should also learn Russian to be able to go to school. But we also want to teach English.
      Question: don't you think if we start teach him 3 different languages at the same time he is going to mix up all 3 languages and it's gonna be too much for a small child?

    Hello from spain. it is a pleasure to see your videos. I am not a native speaker and my engish is not perfect but quite good . With my first kid I started to teach him in engish when he was 3, forcing him to watch all cartoons in english. Now he is 10 and his level is quite good, With my second kid i started to speak him in my "Own" english when he was a week old, and force him to watch everything in english. Now he is 5 years old, and i can´t even understand him when he talks to me, his level is awesome¡¡¡¡

    I have a Spanish friend who lives in London. Her partner is British and he can't speak Spanish. They have had a daughter, and from the day she was born, they spoke to her in both languages. Moreover, my friend's mother is living with them and she can't speak English. So, the little girl now is 8 years old, and she has been speaking English at school and with her dad and school mates, and Spanish with her mum and grandma. She speaks both languages flawlessly and with perfect pronunciation.

    I heard may times and started to observe since living in the US is that families who speaks their first language at home all the time and not teaching any English their kids until they start their pre-k and kindergarten these kids can speaks both languages their mother language and English when they grow. But families who worry that if their kid can’t catch up the English or feel ‘othered’ and try to speak English and teach English and don’t use their mother language often these kids will not be able to learn their mother language. Because English is the dominant language and if you raise your kid here eventually your kids first language will be the English but you will lose your kid to be able to learn your mother language, so it is better to keep your own language as much as you can also, it is good to send your kids back home in summertime, so plus bilingual they also get some cultural heritage. And lastly my observation is that it is much better to have some accent than no accent, and I believe it is more colorful same as instead of seeing McDonalds every corner you taste some independebt tastes

      Speaking in two different languages at the same time to your niece it doesn't the problem , my niece is already 2 years old, therefore 2 years learning and listening only her mother tongue and she said no word yet by herself, just reapeat some word like a parrot , some kids start to talk earlier ,others later and others have some problem to start for some reason but not because to teach them 2 o more languages at the same time .

    Don't become preoccupied with your child's academic ability
    But instead teach them to sit with those sitting alone
    Teach them to be kind
    Teach them to offer their help
    Teach them to be a friend to the lonely
    Teach them to encourage others
    Teach them to think about other people
    Teach them to share
    Teach them to look for the good

    Interesting. You talked about small (occasional) mistakes, but what about someone who does much more mistakes? Could it be a problem? I'm asking that because in some cases it could make sense to teach your kids a second language even if none of the parent are fluent (immigration could be such a reason for example). In this case mistakes would not necessarily be noticed.

    Well, we live in the states and we have a 2 years old boy. We speak Spanish at home all day because we would prefer he learns how to pronounce and speak Spanish correctly. He will learn English when he starts school anyway. There are a lot of people teaching both languages to kids and at the end of the day they speak a very good English, but a poor second language. I believe it’s something sad. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

    • @stevencliff7351
      @stevencliff7351 4 роки тому

      No. I speak spanish and portuguese since i was a kid, and actually, learning tão languages as a kid helped a Lot to understend the grammar and ethimology of both as an adult. Also, some Little misstakes are usual yo everyone learning a language, even when it's just one language at Time. E.g.: mistaking Yesterday and tomorrow, very common in children learning spanish or portguese. While learning two languages, you have yo treat interlanguage mistakes like as you treat those "intralanguage". The neuronal plasticity and sinaptic remodeling in the first 5-6 Years of life supports that. As a bilingual ex-kid and as a doctor I can grant it hehe
