My brother you got the snipe we all missed. Sometimes it truly just takes a fresh set of eyes. The fans not knowing him “well” in the way you suggested makes sense with the way he’s expressed that he wasn’t sure the success would still come if he was no longer playing in his ‘“unwell” bag’. EDIT: I watched your other video and know you want to do the lyric videos from now on. I don’t blame you at all as many people have had copyright claim issues with his music videos but if I can make a single request of you on behalf of everyone that has ever seen the video and heard the song, PLEASE for the love of all that is holy do the video for the song “STORY” on NF’s Clouds mixtape(the next release after this album). You’ll want to thank me later but all the thanks I need is for you to keep being you my guy. Much love❤
As a therapist who is also clinically diagnosed with OCD, his lyrical prose and rhythmic timing represents exactly how OCD presents in the brain. It is relentless, and it feeds on doubt and fear. It is also considered the doubting disorder. It attacks your values and makes you feel as if you are the exact opposite of those values you represent. Those who have the disorder may have various obsessional themes depending on their most basal fears- and then the compulsion is the physical or mental ritual that one engages in to mitigate the fear. Nathan is saying that his compulsion is rumination; compulsions only feed the OCD and create anxiety. It’s absolutely exhausting- and endless cycle. The only way to release yourself from it is to face your fears, accept uncertainty, and stop attempting to answer or solve the questions rooted in fear that OCD demands you answer. It’s complicated 😅😂
Wow…just realized Nate says at the beginning of the second double time “I’m kinda funny but don’t really show it”. His wife has always said Nate is hilarious and now we are seeing it with the new album and Motto. It all makes sense like Teddy said from Why, “a lot of people know me but they don’t know me well” as in this whole time we have been seeing him unwell as apposed to having hope and being well. Mind blown!
On NF's new album, the highest achievement he can get for one of his songs isn't any kind of industry award, it's beating his TeddyGrey highscore of 35 minutes 😎 leave me alone is REALLY good
To answer your question about why he isn't going into the changing room, "going in sad, coming out happy", I think it's because there is a process that he laid out in this video. The first part was wiping off the fake smiles. The second was the changing room, but notice that none of them had any burdens in their hands. So at the end when he gives away one of his burdens, that basically is like a foreshadowing that he will eventually be wearing all white (thus the new HOPE album). EDIT: But also, I just watched the very end of video, and notied how you pointed out that the people in white STILL have burdens! I didn't catch that somehow! CRAZY!
I always thought it was either Nate’s hope trying to help carry his burdens and give it away like nate did at the end to the “major hope corporation” 😂 or its hopes from other people doing the same thing which is carrying the burdens for the people and then ultimately getting rid of them, but idk, sure there’s endless ways to to take his videos so I could be way off as well lol
One thing I really enjoy about you is your absolute talent for catching all the possible meanings and or nuance of each word he writes. You open up these songs to me even more than before. BTW This will always be my favorite song. ❤
There are A LOT of different subtypes of OCD and a lot of them have nothing to do with gathering things or keeping them in order. Some are intrusive thoughts that you think are your own, some are violent thoughts towards loved ones that feel real. It is a very complex disorder.
I think the insight about “well” in “they don’t know me well” is really good and thought provoking! I think I’ll hear both meanings every time I hear it, whether or not it’s true.
I honestly think he has had a general outline of what he wanted to do with his career - which is why he's able to link them all together throughout the whole 9-10 yesrs he's been doing this this way - but didnt know what the songs would be. If you go through The Search album, you can tell hr was in a bit of a dark place after having to check himself into a mental health facility after touring for the Perception album. Also, the ending I truly believe is Nate giving some of his burdens over to God, which is why you don't see the face of the person he's handing the couple of balloons to.
I agree as well that you have gone deeper with the breakdowns where you put things in a perspective I haven’t seen on other NF reactions. This is why I’ll always be a fan! Especially after getting to know you more through all of these reactions.
The era he was in mentally while he was writing The Search album was a very dark era, suicide attempts and a fairly lengthy stay at a mental hospital. In fact, the song 'Nate' on The Search album was written while he was in the hospital and was inspired by an exercise they had his group do where they were basically supposed to talk to their younger self. My take on this video is that it's a representation of his time at the mental hospital. I feel like all of those in white are patients that were embracing the experience and succumbing to the therapy and the process. I feel like he never fully did and struggled with himself in there as much as he does outside of it, despite obviously wanting to have it work and wanting to get better. At the end I feel like that was maybe his psychiatrist behind the curtain and he was supposed to hand off a burden (as in, fix an issue in real life through the therapy) but he just couldn't let it go.
The black represents his darkness and fear, the white represents freedom and hope - my take on it is that al the fans are wearing white cuz they’re finding healing though Nate’s music but he’s still in darkness himself!
NF wrote this album after his song Let You Down blew up and this whole album encompasses how he had everything in that moment but felt emptier then ever if that makes since! At least that’s what I’ve taken from it!
That's interesting. I felt that the white shirts are those that have decided not to be controlled by fear, regret, and depression anymore. The things the black shirt have represented. Things "normal" people seem to do effortlessly but are a lot of work for people trying to overcome various issues. They first make the change to their mindset with the white shirt. Then they line up to get help and resolve their baggage and shed their burdens (shots where they are turning in their balloons). I think the people in white appear sort of mindless and conformist at times to those on the outside looking in and deep in their depression. I've always felt that depression does have some benefits in self awareness and reflection that people who are carefree and healthy seem to have the luxury mindlessly ignore. He touches a bit on that (in my opinion) on "Just like you". And in "Just like you" and "Hope" he touches on that maybe it's time to let these things go and try to be a white shirt himself.
I absolutely LOVE the time you take to give us your perspective. I think your right in saying there isn’t a right or wrong theory to his music which in turn is what makes it so relatable to people. We can take our own experiences and perspectives and in turn take what we feel the song means to us and apply it to our own lives. When you spoke of his mom carrying the 3 balloons I agree that I truly hope he doesn’t think he and his sisters were burdens. Turning that on its head though, and maybe because I’m a parent who is in recovery, maybe it could represent HER feeling like a burden on the 3 of them instead of the other way around. Being in recovery I’ve had to take a hard look at what my illness had done to my children. They were young when my addiction started and young when I found recovery but I’m not naive. I realize that even if they don’t have memories of my use my personality and who I was is not who I am now or who they deserved. Just another possible outlook is all. As always great work breaking it down 💯
Wish you well in your recovery, hope you continue to heal & have a long happy life with your children. We’re only human. We all make mistakes, especially parents. It’s ok. Have to allow grace for ourselves. Take care of yourself, Mama. This is your random internet stranger message of the day. Lol🤣❤️❤️❤️

3:50 i really appreciate that your showing respect, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Part of the reason NF doesn’t is he is trying to say to the industry that swear words are filler words and that’s why he tend to use bigger words
The Search was released in 2019 so most of the songs were written between 2017 and 2018. It takes about a year usually to record and get everything to the standards of release.

I love how he wasn't lying about hanging his plaque and showing off his accomplishments he left them on the floor for years his wife just hung all of his plaques while hes on the hope tour to surprise him when he gets home. NF stays humble.
I got diagnosed with OCD my freshman uear of highschool and seeing Nate mention it and talk about how it affects things makee me feel alot better about it. Looking back to my choldhood and my behavior as a kid, being diagnosed now, is not a surprise at all. Love your reaction Teddy, you're probably my number one reactor!
Omg teddy you have shed so much light on Nate’s verses that I’ve never even thought about and I’ve been listening to him and watching reactions for years. I appreciate your intelligence so much!
I actually see this whole video more from a medical point of view. He was diagnosed with OCD when he went to see a therapist when he had his breakdown which he mentioned in The Search. As you can see his hand is shaking when he "hands over" his balloons which we don't actually know if he does. At this point in time he does not want to take the medication for OCD because he is scared of what will happen.
when you get into the technicals, and get all excited.. I can't wait for you to get to the MIXTAPE there are so many songs, where he gets crazy with technical skills, and different flows, different rhyme schemes, cadences... you'll really enjoy the mixtape
This is the song i feel most connected with.... He really did help me find back to me again and out of a bad marrige... and finding strengh to get out and start agin...
I recently discovered ur chanel, its amazing hear you analyzing the nf journey, even that I'm old Nate's fan, find another point of view with his music always open other questions.
I take it as the hand of God at the end. Best reaction yet but not surprised. The only reactor that is so confused but gets it so much haha 🔥🔥 can't wait for paid my dues
I have diagnosed OCD... and I have to tell you, it's HELL. It is a curse. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. NF has said that OCD actually is not something that drives him quite the contrary, he said that the process of making the HOPE album took so long because of his life with Beckham and also because of how much his OCD has been eating him up from the inside. Anyone with OCD hates it and OCD treatment takes around 16-19 years. also, the theory doesn't really make sense because after perception, he had his worst breakdown and was the most suicidal he ever was. The Search album was his most depressing one I have listened to, and you'll realize that when you react to them. After he started doing therapy, which was after the Perception tour, he started to working on The Search... so I understand your theory, but it just doesn't add up imo. Also he started to really feel better after the search album came out, and then we started to see Nate be more positive than before. Keep up the work man, love your content!
@@Swagu33 well, yes, of course, it depends on the person, but mostly on the condition of their OCD and how severe it is. The reason why it takes so long is because of the complexity and because most people discover they have OCD when it's already disrupting their lives, hence why treatment takes longer, they have not been treated early enough in the process. OCD is at the top 10 list of the most disabilitating disorders out there, which shocked me at first.
Okay your reactions are very entertaining and good. I've always liked rap but I must admit NF has brought me into the whole rap scene a lot deeper. His depth is something I've never really seen before and watching your reactions reminds me of my whole process since I've been doing this and you've been giving me insights and understandings that I didn't even think about before. It's weird it's kind of like reading a book. Anyway thank you for doing this I appreciate it.
"I go to my room and sit in the corner and talk to myself in a language that's foreign". he's talking about going somewhere private and praying in tongues.
This is the first(technically second) song that I heard from NF, and I loved it so much and listened to it on repeat for a very long time before finding any of his other stuff. That was back when I used exclusively UA-cam for music. The real first song I heard from NF was “I Wanna Fly,” and… I credit it to have gotten me out of my depression and started my journey of self discovery. At the very least, it helped greatly. Finding “Leave Me Alone” didn’t come for years after this. I suggest you dig deeper into the past of NF to find some old gold.
Great reviews man. I am on your NF journey as well. I suffer from debilitating OCD. My hyper-focused mind has been an advantage. However, the disorder comes from the fact that the mind cannot stop. It simply is in overdrive, afraid all the time, searching for potential threats, and doubting everything connected to the theme which triggers the OCD. ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. It is like an infinite regress which feeds upon itself until you completely snap. But yes! Mental health needs to be discussed, needs to become part of the cultural dialogue. And I thank you for intelligently and openly dissecting NF's important artistry.
Love this reaction man, as a long time fan, "Leave Me Alone" remains in my top 3. I did not intially see "Paid My Dues" on the several "Journey" lists I saw you display, but please try to squeeze that in. Thanks again bro for all the content, appreciate you and look forward to your future content.
The video was filmed at a Six Flags amusement park that went out of business. So it’s almost like the people dressed in black have the white clothes in their hands with the expectation that they would enter and find “amusement”. Yet he doesn’t enter.
It's not just at the end, where the people in white have black ballons, there are some all through the video. Nate calls them doubts..."ruminating fill ballons up full of doubts", not burdens.(Not a big difference, but I think it matters) That would make sense, to have to let them go, to find hope🥰Also people with and without balloons and with a "fake smile" queue up to have it wiped of, the tent next to it has ballons in it, doubs that were left behind, you don't need a fake smile if you don't doudt yourself and others, you don't have to pretend. Also Nate is wearing grey and has black and white clothes with him in his trolley 🛒 All just theories and things I saw, this video, I could've written more, there's so much symbolism there and with lyrics, love it❣🖤❤🔥🤍❤🔥🖤❤🔥🤍❣
I’m super excited to see you react to Story on the mixtape. It is an outlier from the journey but epic! Love your reactions - Leave Me Alone is a favorite for me.
A thing can only become a disorder when it has a negative impact on the person or those around them. Most people have obsesive tendancies when given a task, and that isn't having OCD.
Teddy I can tell you listen to NF tracks multiple times after you react to them. It comes through in future reactions. Also I wanted to mention that NF toured with Logic as the opening act between Perception and the Search album
@Teddy, also here in the states..in the mental hospital, everyone who works there wears the white scrubs..and the 'straight jackets' are also white as well 😉 and in this record they are wearing the scrubs mainly..not just "regular" white clothes. But as you see in 'HOPE' that's how you have to dress in the white tops, white jumpers and/or joggers and white tennis shoes as well as having HOPE after you've gotten the help you obviously need if you've had a breakdown where it is bad enough for you to say, "okay I need to ✔️ myself into the mental hospital before I do something I can't take back!" That sort of thing as well. I wasn't sure if you knew this bc I don't know about hospitals there. Here what color scrubs you wear is a tell of your role in the hospital 😊
Hey man. Cheers from across the pond! I just wanted to say thank you for your reactions. It is a joy to watch and follow someone experiencing this music for the first time. Keep up the solid analysis and reactions!
The part of the song where he is talking to the fame, the reason why fame is mad at him is that he sent this song which is name "Leave me alone" so he is telling to the fame to leave him alone. That blew my mind when i realized it first. Just have to tell that this man is genius.
hahahah I always wonder what people are doing or where they are while they watch my videos so this comment was amazing 😂🤝 I’m glad I helped ease the monotony!
Nf to me is all about transformation and his fears and complacency with being depressed. The people in white are happiness and he's scared to be happy but it's there for him to take it because he is becoming happy. The black balloons are everything locked in his mansion basement. Fear, resentment, guilt. He's dissected his psyche through years of rhymes. He says quiet cuz doesn't want to mix happiness with his pain. Pain drives him. Until he had hope, his son.
Not the newer stuff… I can only speak on the music I’ve heard so far bud. Of which there have been many contradictions even within the same songs but they’re in different tenses, which would symbolise a change in time - also growth in attitude and penmanship, but I think that’s a byproduct of the time difference.
His two sisters were the 2 females he tapped in the 'fame called' tent... so the balloons at the end...NF was giving to God to forgive his Mom..? the balloons on the swing in the search attatched to his Mom was for him and his 2 sisters.... finally coming to terms? or did he... didn't show him hand them off.... ;)
25:16 - what do you think? 👀

This reaction was awesome! And I agree it's one of my favorite songs by him also!
when you get into the technicals, and get all excited.. I can't wait for you to get to the MIXTAPE there are so many songs, where he gets crazy with technical skills, and different flows, different rhyme schemes, cadences... you'll really enjoy the mixtape
From cambodia , Im a huge fan of NF too ,All of his song always make me goosebumps. The beat ,lyrics ,flow ,Mv wowwww damn
I love your screaming when you go "wooo hoo hoo hoo"!!!!!😂 Its the BEST!!😂
Glad you really read our comments.
"Fame called me, I'm like 'How you doin?'
Hung up on him, I ain't ready for it
I'll get back to that when I make album four"
This, is album 4
This song still is my favorite NF song. I always come back to this one.
It's so satisfying seeing someone truly understand what we all have come to understand as fans. Keep on reacting Teddy; we all love it
One of my personal favorites as well it’s an absolute HEATER🔥
Great insight in “well”. Never thought of that. 🤯 Great reaction!
Your NF reactions are the best bro. Really enjoy them.
I take it as the hand of God at the end. Best reaction yet but not surprised. The only reactor that is so confused but gets it so much haha 🔥🔥 can't wait for paid my dues
Let’s goooo!! Have fun everyone.😎
I enjoyed this one soooo much, thanks again for such an amazing analysis, fun and education 2x1
Great Reaction!!!My all time fav also Layers....🔥♥️♥️♥️ Been waiting for you to do this one !!! knew you would love it♥️🔥
Great breakdown mate!! You getting to that good stuff now
YES.... you are the chosen one
to react to this track.... now
''let's move on to something else..''
Thanx for your dedication Teddy... ;)
OCD is really really rough. Idk where the 16-19 year thing comes from tho, i think it depends on the person and also the treatment.
Right
I highly respect that you try not to swear on nf reactions, even though it wouldn't bother me, it's very admirable
Anyway thank you for doing this I appreciate it.
i think that he is in search for hope on the album: 'the search'
This is my favorite song of NF. Thank you for great reaction as always 👍✌️
"I go to my room and sit in the corner and talk to myself in a language that's foreign". he's talking about going somewhere private and praying in tongues.
I’ve checked him 3 times live. Soooooo gooood! Wish he goes to see you.
How you explained the, ‘They don’t know me well’ bar 🤯 I’ve never thought about it like that.
You look EXACTLY how I did at his show. The energy is unreal! Hope you get you to go d experience it. Great reaction! ♥️
Also Nate is wearing grey and has black and white clothes with him in his trolley 🛒
All just theories and things I saw, this video, I could've written more, there's so much symbolism there and with lyrics, love it❣🖤❤🔥🤍❤🔥🖤❤🔥🤍❣
I’m super excited to see you react to Story on the mixtape. It is an outlier from the journey but epic! Love your reactions - Leave Me Alone is a favorite for me.
Those ppl have hope,
A thing can only become a disorder when it has a negative impact on the person or those around them. Most people have obsesive tendancies when given a task, and that isn't having OCD.
Right. OCD isn't just obsession. It's a disturbance which seemingly requires a compulsion to get temporary relief until the cycle repeats.
Yes! There's that punching a hole in the wall because he hypes you up!
You trip me out bro 🔥 I’m with you on the journey!
Just have to tell that this man is genius.
i stant d by hit 35 minute reaction is great ! had the time do to dishes and laundry ;) And I love having your reaction along those boring task !
hahahah I always wonder what people are doing or where they are while they watch my videos so this comment was amazing 😂🤝 I’m glad I helped ease the monotony!
One of my favorites.
Also, just wait until you hear Returns , Change .. i miss the days.. Options.. etc etc 🤯. Mix tape is 🔥🔥 too
Nf to me is all about transformation and his fears and complacency with being depressed.
I don’t see how he could have written his newer stuff years ago because you can clearly see a progression in his writing rapping and mental health.
Not the newer stuff… I can only speak on the music I’ve heard so far bud. Of which there have been many contradictions even within the same songs but they’re in different tenses, which would symbolise a change in time - also growth in attitude and penmanship, but I think that’s a byproduct of the time difference.
@@TeddyGreyOS I think it’s just the ongoing struggles in his head. But I love your reactions. Keep up the great work.
Omg! Teddy talking in an American accent!! Impressive! Much better than me mimicking a British accent! 😮👏
Been waiting for this one!
In the search when he says ocd trying to push my buttons now yall done it !!!
His two sisters were the 2 females
he tapped in the 'fame called' tent...
so the balloons at the end...NF was
