I can attest to what Anton is talking about. My parents aren't married; however, I spent almost everyday with my dad (ate dinner, took me to practice, did homework, etc). Once I got here, my parents' life ended for the better part of 17 years...I was their sole focus. Women are still trying to have a life. That "mama gotta live" is the bullshit that's got us here now

Nothing burns me up more than a woman that doesn't understand that her life as it was is over once she decides to have a baby. My mom was 18 when she had me, so I understand that she was still a child and still learning. I'm in my 40s now constantly telling her how she failed as a mother. She opted to date/have boyfriends and hang out with friends rather than spend time with me. She left me with whoever would keep me while she lived her life. I remember one time trying to tell her about it when her one friend was around. This friend had 3 kids (two different dads) and all 3 of them were living with their dads in other states. This friend was ALWAYS in the streets and still is to this day at 62. Friend actually said "Your mom needs a life too" when I said my mom was never around. Only now all these years later does my mom finally realize that we have no relationship. It kills me to see pregnant women asking when should they start dating again and others commenting saying it's never too soon to start dating because everyone deserves to have someone.

I’m a victim to this now. Because I want paternity test due to her history and the “son” of mine is almost 10 and we look nothing alike. It's an equal responsibility and accountability between that man and woman. No lie, I got tired of being an escape plan for women that make poor decisions… Because of my single mom upbringing and the environment cultivated by being around those women all my life, I had the super simp ideology intrinsically instilled in me - meaning I felt obligated to help single moms out of their situations and “step up” as a step dad. I thought that was my life’s purpose (crazy). However, I literally almost ruined my life by getting into a relationship with a bm after finishing undergrad and acquiring a great job… I’ll continue to serve the underprivileged and youth suffering from a lack of a father figure via church and community organizations as I am now married to a beautiful, Black woman (non baby mama). But, videos like yours (years ago) opened my mind, showed me my worth, and made me realize that I didn’t have to “step up” just because the “culture” promotes it. Keep going Mr. Daniels! I fully agree. If you have young children and you are not with their father then your focus should be the children. Not dating. Not introducing different men to your children. Your children are your priority.

Anton has a point, once y’all have a child you have already made a life altering choice that you shouldn’t expect others outside of that choice to just welcome into their lives. A child doesn’t choose to be born so it’s up to y’all parents to work something out for the betterment of the child. All the notions of happiness come second as soon as y’all create something that goes beyond yourselves. This is why the vetting process is so important especially when it comes to women giving access to their bodies and men giving access to their resources.
