Soy sauce or kecap in Indo.. is always be an optional.. you can eat almost anything.. even bakso without soy sauce or tomato sauce.. but sambal will make you more indonesian..
Hi Abby and gaz, love watching your video, looks fun, if Abby can't eat soy sauce, you can try rendang, ayam bakar Taliwang, soto, those foods don't have any soy sauce and they are delicious 😊
I'm glad you guys enjoy your trip! :) There's so many Indonesian food that contains soy sauce (kecap) like sate ayam (chicken satay), sate kambing (goat satay), nasi goreng (fried rice), semur (beef or chicken stew), ketoprak, kupat tahu, lontong balap, ayam bakar (grilled chicken), tempe orek, siomay (dumplings), batagor (a kind of fried dumplings), etc. Some of those foods can be asked not to use soy sauce like nasi goreng, siomay and batagor, and if you want to taste satay, you can order non-soy sauce satay like sate taican. I recommend rendang if you want to taste Indonesian's authentic food. It's soy sauce free!
For you guys, You can eat gado gado, beef rendang, beef rawon, Soto betawi spicial jakarta food, soto Makasar, soto Jawa, you can eat Mie Ayam or bakso but don't put soy sauce on it is still good, and many snack you can try like martabak manis/terang bulan, kue pukis, martabak asin, or if you like spicy you can try Mie gacoan..and many more, It would be awesome if you try all of them 😂👍👍..
Aww too bad you didn't try the indoor roller coaster; it's the newest roller coaster and it's way better than the outdoor ones. I hopped on that and got so hooked I rode it 3 times in a row. Imagine getting on a coaster and you don't know where you're going. It's horror themed and it's pitch black, the track changes in the middle of the ride and it's awesome.
Dufan has a great mi ayam there, but i dont know if the food vendor still there When im in middle school its quite expensive around 25k for me, but dayum ITS WORTH and im mi ayam sucker, since its touria spot where food just so so but that MI AYAM still one my favorites till today I reorder at that time and no regrets even its expensive haha... I hope the vendor is still around when I go to Dufan again Hope so
Since you mention that you have alergic to soy sauce then you need to be really careful eating out around in hawkers or street food. Nasi goreng or mie goreng definitely has soy sauce in it. The sauces provided on top of the tables aside from sambal are also sweet soy sauce usually. I recommend you safe food like clear soup like soto ayam, soto betawi, bakso, or rawon that do not not use soy sauce.
if you allergic to soy, then dont eat any tempeh or tahu, especially gorengan. but if you only alergic only to soy sauce, most indonesian dish still do well without it (because i hate it too). so, just say "tanpa kecap, saya alergi" will do the trick for every indonesia dish. because its just add on.
@AbbyandGaz another tip: - peanuts sauce always using soy sauce in its ingredients. so be careful to as if there's soy. - every "bakar" (which means grilled) deafulted using soy sauce. so if u should say it. - tempeh and tahu (tofu) are everywhere in buffet style food. from fried to soup to steam. so if it's buffet style food, be careful with what u chose. - most of the soy based cousins are in java and bali. other island dishes rarely used it. Oh and the Indonesian word for soy sauce is "kecap" pronounced like "ketchup". You can ask "ada kecap" and they'll like say "ada" (there is) or "tidak" (no). You can say "saya alergi kecap" which means "I am allergic to soy sauce"...
@@AbbyandGazsorry but i think it's the opposite. Most of indonesian food use soy sauce, including nasi goreng. Even if you buy sate ayam (chicken satay) on the street food, they will mix the peanut sauce with soy sauce. Most of street food around indonesia, like siomay, chicken noodle, nasi goreng, mie tektek, ketoprak, gado gado, or most of sauted indonesian dish and basically the sauce provided on top of the table in most warungs will have sweet soy sauce. Do you have an allergy to soy sauce? even though in Indonesia all delicious food generally uses soy sauce and it is very delicious, for example satay, gado gado, try meatballs (bakso) , and there are still many street foods that don't use soy sauce
