Really enjoy your episodes Stephen- obviously with 110K subscribers.. you are a rock star in the knitting world- but what strikes me is just how kind you are regardless of how high you soar- you seem so down to earth, so encouraging allowing for many levels of skill- so giving. Thank you. 🎉❤

I love the idea of rolling your shawls up for storage. I installed a curtain rod on my bedroom wall and I hang my shawls and scarves on that. Currently I'm using a shoe organizer from Amazon for yarn storage, it's working well!

A shoe organiser is such a great idea!! Especially if it's clear. It can hold either skeins or cakes too. I might have to look into that! Thanks :)

I love these episodes. They make my heart happy, you are so joyful and make me smile. Very appreciated, especially after a long stressful day at work. You are the main reason I ventured into knitting. Your attitude and sheer joyful energy is so needed in the world at this time.

KALs for me is always more about looking at all the colours and yarns in the same project rather than the project itself. I love the colour combinations in your walls.
I store my yarns in vintage suitcases. I've got cardboard tags attached that look like vintage destination tags but they say "100%wool" "sock wool" "cotton blends" and such. Plus places for randoms and leftovers. Things go in and out often but twice a year at every solstice I go through my stash to neaten the contents. I have so much fun doing this as not only do I get a chance to review what I have and make sure everything is ok and where it should be if it should still be there etc, but it gets me inspired to make more projects from stash.
Having a penchant for scrappy projects means my favourite thing to do seems to be to find some yarn in my stash to go with leftovers when my stash of leftovers is running out of colours, which generates more leftovers. :P
I put fat wooden curtain rods on my wall to hang your shawls across and around and hang thing on too.

Oh Stephen I just love watching your channel. I love the way you talk about colour and knitting. You are definitely making me become more brave with colour. I’m really enjoying the sock along and have learnt so much. I’m making two pairs at the same time.
Also, I love your honesty in this video, I’m sure eventually you will remember what you used the yarns for in your scrappy socks. And I agree, never stop collecting yarn. Knitting and collecting yarn are two different hobbies and it’s ok to do both!
Cannot wait for my Painting Shawls book to arrive to use all my fun coloured yarns I’ve collected so far!

You are such a breath of fresh air!! You made me laugh so hard when you mentioned memories and not knowing where you purchased your yarn from! I was just organising my yarn and came across several bags of yarn that meet that description perfectly. 😂 Glad it’s not just me!! 😅
Just started the Mystery SAL and I’m thoroughly enjoying it! I’m also about to cast on the Woolly Waffle shawl for my mum. I live in Australia and she lives in the US and I want to give her something warm this Winter that I made. ❤

Hello Stephen! Shawls are my favorite thing to knit, so it was a joy and a wonder to enter the world of Westknits. Many of your patterns are in my queue, and I can't wait to start on them.
@cassandraroland5604 had the same question I did - what is your concern with moths and other knit-munching critters? I found some clear acrylic totes with lids on Amazon to sort my hanks in. They come in different sizes and look very neat on a shelf and keep the wool away from the moths. Also, I removed a shelf in my adjustable bookcase and attached a pole to hang my knits. That way, I can see all the steps in the process - pattern books, yarn, project bags, tools, and the finished product😊

I can see different colored cording braided together to make the line, then hung high and low across the entire wall (on some fabulous hooks) with all those incredible shawls draped over the line. Talk about a color explosion! I’m sure if you approach the wall with the same artistic intensity you apply to your work, it will be fabulous😊

Awesome video. Love your projects and your Jersey is gorgeous. I started storing my yarn in a big cupboard as the sun bleached out the colour from my pure wool yarn years ago 😢 I've just started my 3rd pair of socks following a simple UA-cam tutorial. Plus I've started a patchwork cardigan following a different tutorial 😊 I haven't knitted a garment for nearly 50 years since I made a starsky and hutch cardigan when I was 15 😂

Thank you for another lovely episode - I always look forward to them! I store my yarn in an IKEA PAX double wardrobe that my husband redesigned for me. On the left side, I have my sewing machines on 3 shelves and 3 drawers for sewing stuff below. On the right side, behind 2 mirrored doors, my stash is organised into 6 drawers, with storage space for my sewing machine trolley case and project bags above them - I love it so much, as my husband worked so hard on it, particularly as he had to take off almost 2 ft off the top of it so it could fit in my workspace!
I love displaying my Westknits shawls on my dress-form called Patsy after Patsy of Absolutely Fabulous 😂

Yaaaay a new episode!!! Love the new studio and all the color. Storage! It's a trial. As you know in Texas/Oklahoma we have ravenous moths so cedar is a must. I like older China cabinets with glass shelves to hold quilts, shawls and wraps. They have drawers for sweaters, gate, snd scarves. Just toss in a small bag of cedar shavings and all is good. I love baskets, all kinds of baskets. I keep my stash small so I mount them on the wall with opening outwards to showcase all the lovelies.😂😂😂😂

Thank you, Stephen, for this lovely podcast update and tour of your studio in progress -I just love it. I store my yarn , right now in plastic bags because Moth invasion -I live in Montana. Also I acquired some old wooden shelves from a yarn shop which recently closed in my town. The shop had been open decades, it was a very small shop owned by a man who in addition to yarn also did sewing and alterations, but only sold yarn & supplies. Lots of nice wool and other natural fibers from many places. Anyway, the shelves are old and I imagine all the conversations these shelves have heard of the many mostly women who gathered in his shop for knitting groups. It just seems like the shelves are extra special for this reason. Much love to you & your little pups, too ❤

Love how your studio area is coming along. I just moved 6 days ago and I’m still getting everything organized. My shawls are in a huge fabric basket in a closet at the moment. I’ve used drying bars to display them in the past and I’m debating doing that again. I have an old wood stand with sliding doors that that was my parents and I might use that for my shawls and handmade sweaters (still need to knit my first one).

Love the green colour on your wall and the contrasting, rose plinths(?)! My yarn-storage is mostly from ikea. Plastic boxes, storage jars; bread baskets, cookie tins, etc. BUT I have also two yarn storage possibilities, made by a designer, on my wall: They are called "Orion Hanging Utensilio" by Koziol, which I really adore. They are made of transparent acrylic glass. Can't wait for the next Clue of the Surprise Sock Along! 🥰

What a beautiful wall to have for displaying your yarn and having inspiration. I enjoy looking at yarn in baskets. What if you took different sizes and shapes of baskets (probably without handles) and attach the bottoms to the wall so the opening was facing out. You could group the baskets together and fill them with yarn by weight, color, dyer, etc. Maybe you'd prefer to have them randomly on the wall and then start at one end with heavy weights and go down the wall to lace weight, kind of like the yarn shops. I hope this makes sense. I can't wait to see what you decide! You have a beautiful space!

I found a bag full of yarn under my bed last year. The only reason I could identify when I purchased them is because they were in the Super Summer Knit Together giveaway bag for 2019. And apparently I did some serious shopping at the vendor event that year. 😂

You are one simply amazing creative man. Watching you knit and watching the things you knit, for me, is like eating at an ice cream buffet. I want to eat it all, lol. Thank you so much for sharing Stephen, and when I get the courage up, I'll definitely try something you've made, maybe even socks! Love ya!!!

Your sweater is beautiful and a good choice to blend with the colours in the stunning wallpaper behind you. I’m up to date with the 2023 contrast blast sock along Stephen and can’t wait for you to release clue 3. I highly recommend it to everyone. There’s no end to how creative you get with slip stitches Stephen. I’m really loving this project.❤️Angela
