Volvos, especially the estate cars are horrible bangers. Very weak at the rear they are. What I find particularly unsettling is the lack of preparation to any of the cars. They still have glass, no 'H' frame in case of a roll-over. I bet there's no floor plate in the drivers foot-well as well.
@@NJPurling there is no, but there is a rull saying that if u crash into someone REALLY hard u get banned and arrested by the police that is on site (to prevent big accident)
I like it better when they use more modern cars, interesting to see what sort of punishment they can go through. I'm surprised that they seem to keep a lot of the interiors, I even saw a passenger airbag going off!

It's sad that there seems to be some sort of cock waving competition to see who can spend the most and smash up the rarest thing. I do get that there's some older classics that are too far gone for anybody to restore them but rotten cars don't win races. Rock solid never been welded ones do.

There are "proper" races on these sorts of tracks too, with similar cars (there's a bewildering array of classes with different performance mods allowed or disallowed). I guess you could call those the British equivalent of NASCAR, only entry to the stands and to the racing itself is considerably cheaper, and nobody outside of their immediate family have any idea who the drivers are.
Metal Mayhem in Oregon, Illinois does stuff like this. You guys all need to check it out. School bus derbies to trailer racing and even a ski racing. They weld skii's go the wheels. Take the tires off and weld it up on front wheel drive vehicles. Check it all out. Oregon, Illinois raceway.
In Finland these cars are in daily use. We don't demolish them yet. I think people will get rid off them when they really broke badly. Engine or transmission failure.
