‘Brimham Rocks', composed and arranged for Concert Band by Ian Macpherson is a concert/parade march inspired by a visit to a well know National Trust area just outside Harrogate in North Yorkshire.
The curious rock formations at Brimham in Nidderdale are scattered over some 50 acres on Brimham Moor and provide a great variety of weird and wonderful shapes. Many of the gritty monstrosities suggest all manner of things, including elephants, hippos, bears, mushrooms and some are said to have associations with druids, Mother Shipton and even the Devil himself.
Full of sparkle, this foot-tapping march is a definite must for bands and a great addition to the concert/parade band repertoire.

Another fine quick march from Ian, with great melodies throughout the piece. Nice little twist harmonically in the bridge between the Trio and last section. This march bounces along and would make a great concert or parade march. Very catchy. Would recommend puting away the Sousa & Alford marches and switching to Macpherson!
