Man I've got the Nevis 200 (first tent) and I've never had it taut like that. Head space is my main issue actually. Thinking of the cloud peak 2. Curious why you went with this instead
I just went round, and round, and round making it as taut as possible, but I'm sure I need to be careful because if you make it too taut, it can damage the poles I'd imagine. I took this up instead of the Cloud Peak because it's significantly lower in weight and conditions were calm, so no need for a sturdy tent. If winds were stronger and it was wet, I'd take the Cloud Peak as it's a spacious tent with awesome headroom! Thanks for popping by mate.
Cheers mate. I was thinking of upgrading to the cloud peak or helm compact 2 and using that full time. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the weight difference
@@rollingpanda9590 To he honest, I'm not really one for being ultra lightweight. One of my mountaineering tents is actually 3.4kg. But if I can drop weight I will. 200g between them, but for space, comfort, and stability: I'd go for the CP2. But 200g is big when it all adds up.
@@rollingpanda9590 Picking between tents is murder haha. There's a wonderful person who is a part of this community who actually got a Compact Helm 2 and offered to give me the Cloud Peak 2 for free as mine has a defect. I asked the woman if she wanted to do a giveaway instead on the channel and she said yes! So hopefully that's still in place and you can maybe enter the giveaway?
There are no 'mountains' anywhere in the British Isles, just big hills. Anything you can get up and down in a day is not a mountain.... and that's why Britain's three highest peaks just have names, not 'Mount Whatever''.

Thanks mate and it's my best camp. The more I think of it, I genuinely think this was my best camping experience.
Nicely done chaps. 👌🏼 Getting better with the drone too mate. 👍🏻
I'm getting there mate. And thanks for watching and commenting, I'm sure Gaz' will be a better journey as he's a fascinating and brilliant bloke. I heard you're only out next Friday mate and not Saturday?
@@MontyOutdoors I'm not sure what night I'm doing yet, haven't been very well this week, so waiting to see how I feel on Friday.
@@WalkWithWallace Hope you are feeling well, mate. Hopefully a result against Rijeka will lift your mood too :D
@@MontyOutdoors haha, that would certainly help. 😁
Good job👍
Cheers Fraser! Hope you are well, mate.
Stunning drone footage with perfect soundtrack ! How were the desert boots to walk in ? Good video mate 👍🏻🏕
Cheers Ally! They were OK, they had pretty decent grip but my preference are the other ones. You interested in them?
Very enjoyable video Monty (and Gaz). Looks like you got some great weather there and at least that breeze would have kept the midges at bay. If you are looking for a reliable and comfortable sleeping mat I can recommend the Mountain Equipment Helium 3.8. Not the lightest but I've always had a decent sleep on it.
Thanks for watching mate and glad you enjoyed the content. Massively appreciate the comment too. I'll check that mat out over the weekend as legends like yourself have been so helpful with advising of other mats.
Great video Monty / Gaz hope the midges were nice to you i got bitten to death by them lol Atb Nigel.
This is now the 5th comment whose response has went missing lol. Glad you enjoyed it mate. I wear Deet so I never have any issues with midges :)
Gaz the explorer in person! We're off to the Galloway dark skies park on Friday. You think that be ok?
Monty you're not an amateur! Hope you had a magic trek n camp fellas!💫💎💎
Didn't the observatory get set on fire or do you mean you're in that general area? Loads of places to camp there!
When it comes to munro climbing, I am an amateur! And it was magnificent and my favourite ever camp, Nicola, thanks.
@@MontyOutdoors don't know why my comment got deleted when I replied here. 😳
@@NicolaMaxwell UA-cam randomly does that. Happened to Nicky Whyte too. It's annoying.
Re post, glad you stated about problems with your mat. I've noticed others say similar things about different inflatables as well. It's important to see honest reviews with pro's and con's of equipment. Confidence in equipment, enhances a confident camp.
@@nickywhyte7546 True Nicky... as much as I hate genuine criticism it's a necessity for what I do.
Nice views Chris
Are you up for a munro, Alan?
@@MontyOutdoors yes but I don’t get paid until a week on Monday mate just got new iPhone
@@ayrshirecamper7040 My next munro is September I think and you said! Me and Mark will show you how to make quality content 👌
@@MontyOutdoors thanks mate then I can try out my new phone
@@ayrshirecamper7040 Buzzing for it. You'll hit 100 in no time!!!
Amazing video n views guys
This was my best ever camp :) Have you checked Gaz out?
Yeah I subscribe to him m8
N I can't wait to get geared up n out myself monty
@@tps3057 When are you hoping to get that done by? What do you have so far?
Need a gd tent ,sleeping bag n mat .I know which mat n bag..can't make my mind up on tent lol ...n I've got everything else
Looked great lads amazing views! If you're getting a new mic take a look at the rode wireless go, good for hiding behind your coat away from wind.
Thanks mate, will check it out. And we could maybe lure Gaz down to Wales soon, what do you think?
@@MontyOutdoors Get him down here san 👌😁
@@MrWildWales Get a sesh sorted. Is the henchman up for it?
@@MontyOutdoors I'll talk him into it. I'm away the last week of august though
@@MrWildWales Let's aim for September! Easier for me.
Amazing views! It looked beautiful. I think I need a little microphone for my iPhone. My phone seems to make a light breeze sound like a hurricane. I need to pick something up. Xxx
I just recently bought a microphone to improve the audio and overall video quality because of that same problem. They are not cheap. Glad you enjoyed it, Lainey!
Great Video 😊👍
What do you prefer mate? Camping videos up mountains? Next to a loch? In a forest?
Mate... this was my favourite camp ever!!!
@@MontyOutdoors I can see why, the walk in was so beautiful, and the views from your camping site were stunning. As for my preferences, I love them all! I love camping in the mountains, but to see your Loch side camps is something different. Also your solo and camping with others are both great 😊👍
@@lomino6478 It's some effort though mate but worth it once you reach the top! And I have a solo in the forest tomorrow in the rain 😀
How have you been keeping?
@@MontyOutdoors you're like me, love rain ☔😊
@@lomino6478 All set big man. Rainfall radar isn't looking particularly great at the moment, but where I'm going as heavy rain forecasted later. Wish me luck. Going to try something different in my video today as well. I hope you have a great Thursday mate.
You have the loveliest eyes!
Thank you :) I do get this quite often haha.
Brilliant video mate, I need to do this ridge soon. Do you think there will be any fish in the wee lochan just down from where you camped? I am like the sound of camping at that lochan with my rod.
I've honestly no idea as I don't fish, but I was told there is fish in every lochan so you might get lucky. How you been keeping anyway mate? Hope life has been kind to you.
@@MontyOutdoors might be worth a try, I will know when I get there. I am doing not bad mate. It was good to see you on your live feed last night.
Ive a thermarest keeps deflating to , pain in the ass. Gonna get another mat different brand, nice we camp chilly indeed.
Think I'm gonna resend this one back too. Getting really annoyed with this mat. Even the reviews online are hot and cold.
@@MontyOutdoors something from Amazon will do the job, u camping tonight
@@ddolly5024 Amazon mats are cheap crap. Stay clear. And tomorrow mate... in the rain. You?
Few weeks.mate , cant believe how cold it got for u, what about trekolgy mats
@@ddolly5024 Trekology mats are fine in summer. But I need mats with a good r value. Coastal camp in a few weeks I take it?
@@MontyOutdoors Good insight mate, cheers.
Granted different classification systems exist and the UK has small mountains, they are universally accepted as mountains.
Gaz gets younger looking every time I see him.
😂 The Baby Faced Assassin of wild camping.
