I saw an MP4-12C at the Vancouver Car show in the volcanic red colour. There is no video or picture that can truly capture the sculpted shape and angles the body has. It is truly stunning in person. I liked the car on UA-cam but was pleasantly blown away in real life. Totally exotic car that makes other Mercedes, Porsche, Aston Martin, even Ferrari look ordinary. I only hope they get more of the loud menacing sound of the MP4-12C GT3. The 12C's 'evil twin'. That's what draws people to McLaren.
Honestly, I think this new 2013 McLaren MP4-12C with 616 HP will be able to beat the Aventador, despite having fewer horses! If it is able to, then that would be a marvel, considering the MP4-12C has no AWD, has fewer HP, and cost less. Now that's my new DREAM CAR!
He's truly the only person I enjoy listening to on this youtube channel. The video editing is great, and the camera shots are what keep me coming back. More Wood!

Because of the bar set by the McLaren F1 people expect any McLaren to be loud, menacing, authoritative, invoking both fear and awe while being a technical masterpiece. People expect and want to know Mclaren's are the Boss. That's their brand marque.
Thank you for your review. However, first and foremost this is not a sports car. It is without a doubt a super car. The stability control is not completely off in track mode as stated. It can be turned off but not by placing it in track mode alone. The sports exhaust is extremely loud and lovely, your press car was more than likely equipped with the standard. If you are going to critique the exhaust note please include ALL the information.
Type in "2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 - Start Up, Accelerations, Fly Bys Sound" in the UA-cam search box. This black 12C GT3 is the sound the consumer wants from the MP4-12C.
Was the front end lift system engage during the opening segment? And if so, should it be disengaged when parked? IIRC Porsche says to disengage after use so there's no prolonged strain on the hydraulics.
exactly! in fact, i think it's the best looking car of the last ten years and, considering how car design is evolving, it won't be beaten very soon! in the 80 Ferrari was making the 288 gto! you could dream about a car like that! but with their new designs they've taken the dreams away from us and replaced them with nightmares! the FF is ok, the 458 i don't understand, but the new LaFerrari is plain ugly! How the hell could someone who works for Ferrari look at that and think: "that's pretty!"?
Then you add in the absurd maintenance and parts... Including the McLaren proprietary software and tools and only the dealer can service and you will be sped in quite a bit more than your bargain basement $120k.
A better car for the street is the Jag F-type R/SVR. Especially a 2015R. It is no match for this car performance wise, but come on, 2nd gear is already in lose you license territory. The Jag is prettier, more luxurious AND sounds much, much nicer. Best news is a 2015R is now $60k so 1/2 the price of the McClaren and you can actually get one serviced. Jag > McClaren for your anytime, fun street car.

Yep the sport exhaust sounds amazing and here in Aus the 12C has had a 20% price cut so its now cheaper then the 458.

I think it disengages when parked. I lift it up to get in the driveway but I don't see it parked lifted after I shut it off.
I'd definitely get this over the 458. I'm not hating on Ferrari. The 458 is a beast of a car. I just prefer McLaren overall.

not a bad review but if you guys want to compete with other car shows out there you really have to jump on your reviews much sooner.
