Globally, at least two billion people lack access to safe, affordable, and adequate housing. By 2030, an estimated 3 billion people, about 40 percent of the world's population, will need access to suitable housing. Adequate housing has become an urgent need, as it serves as the first line of defense against climate change and health risks, with homelessness putting millions of lives at risk.
