Probably the most faithful adaptation of Richard Matheson's I am Legend, this is one of my favorite films. It's a flawed gem, hampered by it's low budget, filming in Italy, easily dated as a product of the 60’s, it's still enjoyable and worth watching!
The camera angles, the child actress, and music are the things that date this film... other than that, it's pretty reminiscent of the 1980s film Night of the Living Dead. I'd say it held up well, and the ending, it took some big balls to shoot such a pessimistic conclusion to the film.
The only real misstep is that Robert, or Nevill in the original story, is not just some ordinary guy trying to figure it out by what he can by reading books. I always thought that was important. Robert ( Nevill) knew nothing about medicine, but he still tried. He did what he could with his limited knowledge. And tried. And tried. And tried. Until the end.
Although Richard Matheson didn't care much for the way the movie adapted his story, he was full of praise for Vincent Price's performance. In a Starlog magazine interview with Matheson, he remarked: "It's really a one-man performance by Vincent Price. He's a good 90% of the entire movie".
Very good. The template for night of the living dead. Price with his natural elegant demeanor contrasting his character's world was an inspired choice.
A truly great Vincent Price movie .... it's hard to believe this movie is still in public domain .... Morgan , Morgan !!!! .. We're coming for you Morgan 😳
No está sincronizado el sonido, pero con mucha diferencia de tiempo, hasta donde he visto está doblada en español, pero hay un trozo en la primera mitad que cambia al francés, y todo esto sin estar sincronizados imagen y sonido, lamentablemente
I must say I prefer this version than 'The Omega Man' with Charlton Heston. This is more eerie and suspenseful. Also, he doesn't ham up the performance!! I much prefer the ending in this one too and the way he narrates in first person dialogue. Vincent Price was a great actor and he had the voice and charisma for his villainous roles.
Terrible! Merci pour ce film. On voudrait voir SVP: L'Invasion des profanateurs de sépultures (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) de 1956 par Don Siegel en VF et N&B. Merci par avance.
'They were afraid of me. They were afraid of me, because they didn't know' Vincent Price. 'They're still afraid because the TRUTH remains that no one wants to know' Anonymous
51:47 scariest scene because, it's the psychological fear that makes Robert (Vincent Price) realize that even when he buried her as she was pronounced dead, she comes back as a scary zombie with her same voice😱😱😱😱😱😵😵😵😵😵
I read the book of “ I am Legend” when I was 11 years old (1955) , being disappointed with “ Omega Man” and “ I am Legend” as both ignored the actual real point of the story, I was delighted to discover this, previously unknown to me. Brilliant.

A man searching yelling running throw a city full of hungry monster who drink blood eat flesh they don’t show mercy they don’t have minds they don’t have control the hunger is what controls them they lurk in the shadows waiting…watching…waiting for the time to attack… this is the last man on earth…
a contemplation on the mundane, repetitive means of survival that leaves humanity bereft of true meaning, joy, and connection. His work-a-day slog just happens to be terminating blood thirsty mutants.... (oh just got the vampire symbolism )
Dam, this film was way ahead of its time. Change the music, use some modern camera angles, and put in a better child actress for the girl, and you have a film out of the 1980s. It comes across like The Night of the Living Dead remake. I never thought this film would be as creepy as it is.
He's got all the remnants of civilization available and doesn't even grab a rifle. They are slow moving zombies. Easy targets. Carry a sword for backup.
Why not start eradicating these zombies by going to the nearest military armory? Heavy artillery? I mean he's smart, efficient, and industrious being the only man alive with keys to the kingdom?
@@pinecone1321I'd like to see Trump win just for the entertainment value, of watching everyone in the media totally lose their shit for a month or so afterwards, and be on TV continuously weeping or screaming. That alone would be worth it.

It's the dating of it from the 60s that makes it so wonderful. And I totally agree with everything you said.

And the ending was really weak compared to the book. Astoundingly weak actually. Shockingly weak. Down right bad.
💯! Mr Vincent is king of this golden age of horror IMO! Watched all his stuff dozens of times and never gets old! ✌️

EXACTLY!
This film has the feel of Night of the Living Dead. Specifically, the 1980s remake version.
@puppiesarepower3682 well, NOTLD came 8 years after and is way too similar to not have been "inspired"

The is the most faithful adaption of the novel I am legend. Far more so than the film of the same name and Omega Man.
I could watch Vincent Price read a phone book. He's that great.
Same
Great classic flick that inspired the Omega Man and I Am Legend. Good acting from Vincent. Thanks!
Seems so relevant to this world we're living in...since 2019
Best adaptation hands down. Vincent Price for the win.

The audiobook of this is a good listen on sleepless nights.

Dystopian moderne 1960s. Brilliant.
Interesting movie. I liked the ending.
Thank you

In this video (movie) the audio is not synchronized with the scene…
Good movie 😊
He has ANGER ISSUES.
These stem from not being a man and the hopelessness of never becoming one with himself.
El doblaje en español no està sincronizado con las imàgenes, una làstima.. De todas formas gracias por compartir
Ok, at least you kept the original 👍🏼
Que bueno por fin un clásico del cine 🎥 y un súper actor tipo pandemia 😮

Camera angles are perfectly fine, no need to change them
The movie SHUTTER ISLAND is a modern and accurate interpretation of this story.
Shutter Island is based on a book with the same name. It has nothing to do with infected persons.
Il existe une version avec Charlton Heston intitulee LE SURVIVANT
VINCENT PRICE A LEGEND !
The one question I have is when his wife came back from the grave he buried her in was her coming back in his mind or did it happen?
When the wife comes back…. Truly creepy scene. ‘Let me in’

Pq os filmes desse canal nunca são dublados?
John: actually, richard matheson hated all of his adaptations, cuz he believes that all of em are not faithful to the book.

This is what the U.S. will look like one month after the 2024 Presidential election.
I know those damn Democrats they are outrageous when they lose.

I do have to say that was a really deep grave that he dug there is no way she could have dug her way out even Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't
