The story on the homesteading story. My sister used to make as much as possible as well (farmer) and her kids friends came over for dinner one night and my sister made pizza. The girl was like this is really good, really fresh where did you get it? My sister said she made it. The girl said no really what brand is it I’ll tell my mom to get it, it’s really good. My sister had to say no, I MADE-MADE it, not just cooked it. She said what do you mean you made it. So my sister listed it,.. i made the dough, ok, i grew the veggies on it, made the tomato sauce from my tomatoes, and the cheese. The kid keeps getting bigger eyes and then at the cheese she said. Even the cheese? You made the cheese? Yep. From goats milk because she had goats not cows. The kid litereally couldnt comprehend making everything in that one pizza,.. then turned to her friend (my sisters daughter) and said your really lucky, my mom wont make anything unless its from a box and trust me she cant cook so we prefer it that way. Kind of gave my bratty niece something to think about when she kept getting mad she had to have homemade not store bought since my sister couldnt afford store bought.

I’d rather home cooked meals any day. I’ve never been that much into fast food. Every now and then as a treat or I’m running late is one thing. My sister eats fast food every single night for at least 2 meals a day. And not sit down food… fast food.

You know what’s insane, is that Beth is *_SO_* obsessed with getting back at Lou, that when she was threatening Lou’s husband Phil, she was basically saying she *DIDN’T GIVE A FUCK* about her own marriage to George and she was willing to torpedo her marriage to George, just to get back at Lou. That’s fucking insane, she’s a psycho.

Sophia, homemade butter is SUPER easy. Fill a jar about 3/4 full of heavy cream, tighten the lid, and shake shake shake! The fats of the cream will eventually separate from the liquid and solidify as you shake. The liquid leftover can also be used in cooking.

Beth is awful but Phil is far worse, he cheated on his loving wife with someone who actively is jealous of his wife.
Then he says "he caved" trying to make himself look like the victim. He is equally culpable but he is the one who actually betrayed someone he cared about and so personally.

On the cow story . . . it oddly reminded me of this woman who worked in a daycare I went to as a kid. My mom would drop me off there in the Morning before going to work and it was a Chruch that would prove breakfast and some play time. It was involved with the school I was going to so the bus would go there to pick us up from the Chruch/Daycare. Anyway, it was at Breakfast that I ask this woman who worked there what the breakfast was. Some sort of meat that I couldn't guess at as it wasn't anything like what my mom had ever made. I was like 7 or something at the time. The woman said it was puppies and I immediately stopped eating and went to school hungry. I asked my mom if she could pack me a breakfast and told her why so my mom confronted the woman and found out upon the Chruch itself investigating the issue that woman had been trying to freak out the kids from wanting meat to make them all Vegetarians. It wasn't the first time this woman did something like this. The Church threw some pretty awesome Holiday parties on Halloween and Christmas with games and prizes and the woman did some sketchy stuff then too. She was fired not for being Vegetarians but for the things she did to the children.

14:28 the second test isn't mature though it's revealing the truth of a real person. How else would they be able to figure out the intentions of her friend. You can't just talk it out because she would just lie so that second test reveal the truth

Generally, refusing to try a dish a friend or loved one made is very rude IMO. Unless there’s an obvious reason like being vegan or allergic, etc. “I eat meat, but not That meat.” They admit to eating “off diet” foods on occasion. Why couldn’t they humor their friend for one meal?
After some critical details!: Meatballs and food etiquette is the least important thing in this story. Yikes. 😬 Cheating is bad, mmkay.

    • @jacymo
      @jacymo 4 місяці тому +1

Yeah, I was actually on Beth’s side until the cheating update lol. You invited her, it’s polite for people to bring a dish, dessert, or wine, the fact that she brought meatballs was not a red flag for me, why wouldn’t she want to bring something that everyone has proved to like in the past? Meatballs are hardly unique. And I mean really, why wouldn’t you warn her not to bring meat/dairy if she’s a friend you’re inviting to dinner, even if she’s traveling far and she’s clearly not close enough to know this about you and your family… I didn’t find it shocking at all that Beth was hurt and embarrassed that no one would at least try a meatball she took the time to make for everyone to enjoy. However, I WAS shocked at that cheating story!!! Wowza.

But it’s not “not that meat” it’s specifically “I only eat meat I know was treated and raised well” it’s not like they refused someone specifics meat it’s that they have morals around livestock being treated well and won’t consume meat that they don’t know where comes from. Saying someone should go against their morals just to appease someone being competitive is kinda crazy

  • @charityquill4965

I think the idea of "know your cow" is that you only eat the meat if you can verify that the cow was raised and slaughtered humanely, and thats a lot easier to do with small local farms rather than eating meat that comes from cows in factory farms. They dont want to incentivise the cruelty towards animals, but are willing to eat meat of they know for sure the cow had a happy healthy life and was not suffering when it was killed

35:18 same with us. We are not going through life saying we are vegetarian, but of course it's going to come out if they are inviting us to eat or go to a restaurant, and people get all defensive about it. Im not trying to convert anyone, I'm just saying I don't eat meat. But then they star to bombard us with "statistics", "facts" or biblical arguments for their right to eat meat.

The family doesn't own their own cows, OP specified that phrase just means they know the rancher that provides their meat. They probably have a small house and a small amount of land, but not a full blown farm. That's why her and Lou shared the cow since its probably cheaper that way.

Last story update (deleted but recovered thru WBM)
"The original post has been removed, but here's an update, because I'd like to explain some things.
Alright folks, you made it clear. I accept your verdict, I'm the asshole.
Sorry for not replying individually, most of the questions were very similar, so I'd like to answer them here:
    - I couldn't go there, because I was working. I'm not in a financial position where I can risk losing my job. I wasn't just lazy or not in the mood to drive. That still doesn't mean I didn't talk to her until I got there. We talked every day and she knew she can call me whenever she needs to.
    - I'm not homophobic. I like Brock and his boyfriend, they're both great guys. After reading your comments, I realised I didn't appreciate their help enough. I felt ashamed and guilty for not being there and I projected that anger onto them. I already apologised to them over text, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to do it in person, too.
    - Yes, I love my girlfriend, adore her, and I wanted nothing more than to help her. I know she's suffering, and it hurts to see her like that. I'm not good with words, I can't cook soup and I don't have a best friend's comforting touch. The only thing I know is wood, and creating something new helped me get through the hardest times in my life. I wanted to share this with her, because I feel like it's the only useful thing I can do.
    - I mentioned her unwashed hair, because it's something I associate with depression. I grew up living with a depressed mother, I know what it does to a person. I was desperately trying to prevent that from happening, and I failed to realise it's a different situation.
    - I haven't talked to her since I left, because I didn't want to bother her. I sent her a long apology message, and I told her I'd like to talk this through when/if she feels comfortable with meeting me. If she doesn't want to meet me, I accept that, too.
Thank you for your comments and advices, I clearly have a lot of things to work on about myself, this was a huge reality check.
Lastly, I'd like to say I'm sorry to everyone in the comment section who lost their parents. Thank you for sharing your feelings and stories, and I'm sorry my post reminded you of that trauma.
TL;DR: I couldn't reply individually to people in the comment section, so I'm trying to explain the situation in this post"

My dude, are you autistic? And I'm not meaning that in any kind of a snarky way.
I just live with a couple of autistic people and my partner who lives apart from us is also autistic.
It seems like you wanted to help in the only way you knew how, but that it was very different from how Neurotypical people grieve.
If you have not already been evaluated I think that you should be seen by a neuro- developmental psychiatrist or psychologist.
If you have had a history of these kinds of relationship issues or struggled with social situations, or reading social cues, you might very well be neurodivergent
If it's true, there are multiple kinds of accommodations and therapies that will help you get along in a world of full of Neurotypical people much more comfortably.

I think so many people jump to "you should immediately leave if you have respect for yourself" - this is true of the cheater openly lied multiple times, gaslighted, or continued to do abusive things. If they are capable of actual change, you will see it and can work towards gaining trust FROM BOTH sides. They also didn't trust you to tell you about the things they were doing. It's all about communicating, recreating boundaries as the relationship changes, and both parties need to be actively seeking and fixing the relationship. Sometimes it's too much trust gone and you have to realize if it's you that can't move forward honestly. People make mistakes, and when you decide you love someone's soul, you love them through the mistakes if they realize they made a mistake. If they can't do the same for you, it's also best to move on. It's never so easy to just leave because they hurt you. Everyone will hurt you at some point, if they love you, they will actively try to fix the mistake with you.

People be stupid. Harper was going to cheat and go all the way. She would have blame op saying he raped her sense she was drunk or blame Olivia saying she should have try harder to keep her man.
Op needs to leave Olivia. She called up narrow minded fron not understanding the test and op isnt good enough in looks for other to find him attractive. She literally making op sounds like he was in the wrong for being uncomfortable and his thoughts of wanting her to drop her friend. She had to hard core evidence sent from harper herself to even believe op. Disguising

    • @fionna_cool_girl
      @fionna_cool_girl 5 місяців тому +1

I don't think OP needs to leave Olivia if he's happy with her now. Honestly if I was in the situation, I'd believe my partner right away because I know my best friend would never do that, but for others it's hard to believe. It's a weird situation going on with Harper trying to excuse her initial actions as just a test and in the era of weird trends and "loyalty tests", it's not entirely hard to believe why Olivia thought what she thought. You don't want to believe that your best friend would ever do something like this. But it happens and Olivia believes it now. Also Olivia didn't say OP was unattractive, she just said OP wouldn't have been her friends type (which is untrue apparently because Harper is a little b). People are attracted to different people. For me, I love my boyfriend more than anything and height doesn't matter to me, however he's 5'4 and had talked about feeling insecure about not being attractive in his teen years because he's a small person. I love him regardless, but we know dating can be a bit hard if you're a short king. That's just how life is. Not everyone will be attracted to you. OP doesn't need to blow up the relationship like so many people on Reddit and UA-cam says he should over this.

Just to Note: it is important to match your appetizers with what you eat. The meatballs are on the heavier side and in some dinners could be the entree. Knowing that the steak was already a heavy meal then you don’t bring a heavy appetizer. This is why course meals have to consider balancing out not only the flavor but the “heavy” factor

for me...Harper should have been better..like harper clearly didn't want to be caught/was upset about him telling the girlfriend and knew she could have been in trouble. she was ablet to ue the idea of 'testing him' as a excuse and sort of got away with it. the dude even said he could let it slide because she was clearly drunk before...I feel like the second test could have worked out well if harper had decided to not bite at the bait as it would have assured the guy that it was about her being drunk and that the original one really was a test(or at the very least she has accepted he wasn't interested and wasn't going to try anymore after getting away with the test excuse). Harper failed the test through which showed she was a bad friend and honestly that she's kindof dumb becuase the dude was CLEAR about not being interested before to the point he told the girlfriend and this was a subjetc of conversation and he's moving in with said girlfriend...and yet she ACTUALLY thought she had a chance? and was willing to risk the friendship a second time despite her panic at the initial attempt not working and being outed..

I think the last OP needs to go to therapy. This is a serious suggestion because he seems like the type to try to resolve mental issues on his own while totally lacking introspection. It can still be hard for introspective people to resolve certain things, so this would be a extra terrible combo. To have that great of a lack of empathy usually means massive untreated trauma, poor childrearing (e.g. emotionally stunted parents), or untreated mental disorders (e.g. antisocial personality disorders). Either way, he'd benefit from talking to a professional. Maybe he can deal with his intense discomfort/jealousy surrounding other men as well. He acted like he needed to play guard dog to his girlfriend over someone he knows isn't a romantic rival, and all these things combined sound like a massive toxic cocktail that he needs to do figure out with a trained professional.

I don't think him testing the friend was wrong at all. He told his girlfriend the truth, she was struggling to accept it because she loved her friend, and he needed to prove it early before she caused more issues in their relationship. The friend wasn't going to admit it anyway, and it would be worse if he engaged with the friend privately and then came to his gf with the nudes because then the gf could think he somehow asked for them. Doing the test right in front of her so she can see it happen live was a great way to show to her what's up.

I don't give explanations when I decline an invitation. If I want to spend time with them but have plans for that day, I say I can't that day, I'm already booked, can we choose a different day. If I want to spend time with them, but I don't want to do the activity, I say, I'd love to spend time with you but that activity is out of my comfort zone or something like that. If I don't want to spend time with them I thank them for the invite but just say I can't go. I've only had a few people persist after being rejected more than once and I often take the time to say, I'm sorry but my life is so full at this time I'm not really looking for another friend. If you share what you're doing you risk that person being offended by you attending something they deem less important than them or their event. If they are rude enough to ask what's so important I can't change plans I just say it's something I've committed to and I try to honor my commitments. BTW if an invitation comes with and RSVP, it is RUDE not to respond within a reasonable amount of time.

i see nothing wrong with someone eating only locally-sourced foods, and in fact, i encourage it. the amount of abuse and improper nutrition in the meat and dairy industries is appalling - do NOT get me started on feeding only corn to ruminants. pasture-fed animals are much better quality, especially if they’re handled with care. stress can cause the cow’s body to release cortisol, which affects the quality of the meat. i went to school for sustainable agriculture, and two of the most important things you can give to a farm animal are a good life and a quick, painless death, free from fear (this is mainly where the cortisol thing comes in, but a cow’s meat reduces in quality from consistent cortisol release during its lifetime). my instructor named all of her animals- dairy and beef cattle, goats, pigs, chickens, etc. we practiced meat processing on a goat named “chamomile cow,” whose mother i had met the year prior. my instructor cried when she dispatched him because of course it’s hard, but she felt so strongly that she gave chamomile cloud the BEST and happiest life possible, and now it was his turn to give back. she said it in much more eloquent terms, but it was a circle of life mentality where humans and animals work hand in hand to thrive and benefit each other.
THAT BEING SAID: OP should’ve mentioned their diet way way before, especially if they’re hosting a dinner, which people often bring food to. i’m sure OP even eats store bought meat on rare occasions when it’s not possible (example: traveling or going to a restaurant), but she just clearly didn’t like beth. wild ending to come from some meatballs tho

Until you work at a butchering facility that processes the hormone and steroid pumped non organic meat, you really shouldn’t laugh at this. Most of the meat In stores has been through it, and those steroids and hormones transfer to humans once ingested. It has been proven that since these things have been added to cattle and poultry, that little girls are averaging starting their periods years sooner than before, and steroids can cause all kinds of issues in children and adults. It’s actually pretty scary stuff.

I don't want a cow that had a giant abcess that they just cut off and gave me the meat around it, or a cow that has been shoved into the slaughter room by a bulldozer because they are too weak to walk. Both of those are things your store bought meat have probably experienced.

As they said that’s just a wording to make it easier for their kids what they actually mean is they source their meat. They buy from huge operations that do not treat their animals well, there is a lot of nastiness in the meat industry. They buy local farms where the animals are treated properly (which is also healthier for you as the well treated cows tend to have better healthier diets that make their meat healthier)

On story one, I have a different opinion on phone looking. With phone looking, you have to check up with your partner. Determine what kind of people you are.
Are you the type of person who trusts your partner to not look at your phone?
Or are you the type of person who trusts your partner enough to look at your phone whenever they want?
I am the second one. It works for my partner and I. We trust each other so much that going through the phone whenever is just okay. And it’s not like you’re checking it every week. It’s an intrusive thought that I think isn’t a bad thought. I simply don’t care what my partner looks at because I don’t have anything to hide. Like maybe every 5 months I might look. It’s really random. It doesn’t mean I don’t trust him. And he has the same option for me. If he wants to look, I’ll immediately give it to him and I’ll even say “go ahead. I trust you.”
My point is, I only let those I love and trust on my phone. And he’s one of those people.
