Henry Stanley With Terra serving as one of Xehanort's Darknesses, we're one Light short of seven... Roxas could serve as that light. Xion was just a part of Roxas, so I don't think she could stand on her own as a person.
Roxas is by far my favorite character, not just in Kingdom Heart, but in all videos games in general. This video.... it made me tear up. About a fourth of the way though, I felt my eyes watering. I....I guess my summer vacation is....over.
The thing I love about Roxas; is that he is more like a real person. Sora is too much the goody-goody hero, with no grounded feelings beyond blind hope. Which is fine, but overly traditional to the point that it can be sickening sometimes. I remember being uncertain when I first learned that we were going to be playing this new character instead of Sora in KHII. We didn't know much about him beyond his name and that he was "connected" to Sora in some way. The secret ending in Chain Of Memories implied he'd play some vital part. That, and Twilight Town. An area unfamiliar to Sora in the same game. The trailers at the time, showcasing Roxas fighting some large enemy with the Kingdom Key? The Keyblade belonging to Sora? Needless to say, it was intriguing. It's always a huge risk to start off a sequel with a new character like that. It could have gone poorly or incredible.
I was sad when I finished playing his story. I actually didn't want to play as Sora. I wanted to continue my journey as Roxas. I wanted to know more about him. I didn't want to see him fade away into nothing but a memory. Yet, that was a fact I had to accept. My only hope was that somehow later on, we'd get to see him again (and we do but...you know the rest for now.)

Sassy at times, will get angry at times, has Anti-Form (which is the embodiment of the darkness in his heart), and was reluctant to kill Heartless just because he knew that was what helped Organization 13.
But sure, no grounded feelings whatsoever.
There's a really good fanfic in which Roxas refuses to merge with Sora in order to travel to worlds far from "Kingdom Hearts" domain in order to find a way to restore Xion. It's called "The Twilight Will".
I think you should read it. It feels like a natural expansion of the universe we've grown used to. That, and I was very proud to see him fight for a destiny of his own design. Sora is my favorite character, but neither Riku nor Diz were even concerned in finding some alternative to forcing him. I refuse to abide by this injustice.

The scene with Roxas and Sora in the basement of the mansion was sad as hell when I first played this game on summer break, ironically, back in sixth grade like ten years ago. It's still pretty sad. Roxas is easily top five on my favorite character list.
You forgot how Xemnas and Saix also went into Roxas room when he was comatosed :o and how Xemnas mentioned "So once again, sleep took you again... my friend" (somewhere along those llines) to show how he is connected with not also Sora, but with Ventus as well. :o
i believe that was Terra in Xemnas. so seeing Roxas asleep an Terra saw this an thinking about Ventus

No it's badass, you see the extent of his power and rage while dual wielding.
Sora stabs himself is the most powerful moment far and wide. Xion’s death is the saddest.

after having someone toy with not only yours but your loved ones memories, watch your friends and all that you care about destroyed, sacrifice your life for the sake of the worlds existence and have the protagonist of many worlds forget your sacrifice, plunge yourself into darkness without a any reinsurance of returning to the light for your friends well being, traveling vast worlds and risking your life to save or find a friend that pulled a mutiny, have the keyblade turned against you, and fight an alternative version of yourself just to survive and doing it with a smile. If that isn't going through something, then I don't know what is just saying.
It's called *Pain Train*
the line 'who will I have ice cream with?!' was probably my favorite in the entire series, and was honestly the most emotionally impacting moment to me.

+KH FanGirl In BBS, remember how someone shares their heart with Ven (bc it was missing a huge chunk)? It was actually Sora. Sora holds Ven's heart within him therefore when his nobody appeared, it took on the look of Ventus instead of Sora.

Everytime roxas says that his summer vacation is over, my heart burns for a short time because i can imagine me beeing in his position and i can relate to everything he was going through so that i can feel his emotions in that sentence ;-;
I'll be honest, i nearly cried while this video because Roxas is one of my favorite characters in video game history and my favorite in the kingdom hearts series. I hope you do more awesome Lore videos about kingdom hearts in the near future. You did a fantastic job with this vid. 10 out of 10
Great analysis and telling man. Roxas is my favorite character in the whole series and his story is very deep. It's one of the stories I feel I can relate to the most (along with Riku's).
Oh my gosh, when Axel's tear fell, I was just like, "Alright! I'm done! Can't do this anymore!"
My first knowledge of this game was my friend telling me I was a lot like Roxas. My other friends agreed, so I started playing to find out what they were talking about. Since then, I've felt such a connection to him, and he's by FAR my favourite character in the game (Axel coming very close second). He's such a well-rounded character, and not nearly enough attention is given to him, he couldn't even get his own game despite being the most interesting (and most powerful) character in the game...

thats not a happy scene to begin with, and having his whole story separated into 2 games makes it easy to take it like a man. but when you put it all together..... HNNNG.

the sadest Story in Kingdom Hearts, i miss Roxas and Xion, Xion's death made me cry and my heart will always aching when i hear the theme of Xion, i miss the two so much, i hope Roxas and Xion will return
1:57 I have different theory about that. I think he meant that Roxas looks like Ventus instead of Sora. Before Birth by Sleep, it would have been an obvious explanation to say that Roxas looks like Sora because there was nobody else. But after BSB we see that Roxas is pretty much the spitting image of Ventus. When Xemnas tells Sora that he's special too, he's referring back to the fact that Ventus is sharing Sora's heart.

+rainbowflash63 there's not much of a story for him. apart from what you can already see in the games of him, his origin was never really shown. we saw so little of him before he was a nobody in BBS. but none of us know exactly what happened to him inbetween the time that he was human in BBS and was a nobody.

Here's a fact of Roxas:
His existence is mainly from Ventus. Yeah yeah yeah he looks like ventus but when Roxas appeared in Twilight Town he looked like a teenager. While sore was still a kid ... Ventus on the other hand was a young adult (probably age 16/17). So from that it make Roxas look older than a kid that sora was at the time. And not the mention Square Enix changed Roxas' old voice in KH2 and replaced it with his voice in BBS when making the remake of KH2. Hence, showing that Roxas existence is mainly from Ventus.
+Brenda Salas In case you got confused about what i meant Roxas' voice in the first KH2. I meant that they changed it in the final mix 2.5 version that Jesse McCartney did in 358/2 days and BBS. Yes i am very aware Roxas was always voiced by Jesse McCartney.
Ventus originally had a different voice from Roxas? That's cool! I never liked that Roxas was supposed to be a clone of Ventus' body, it just detracts from his character status. Fuck that he can't even have his own body ':(

It is a sad story indeed but I believe that Roxas and for that matter, Xion, should remain where they are.
They suffered, made sacrifices and it's sad to accept but just like life itself, you need to accept it and retain the memories of the good things.
The end of Re:Coded gave me hope that they can be saved . . .

roxas was not unique in the sense that he had emotions. ALL nobodies in the organizations had emotions, as they actually did have their own hearts, as xemnas explained in DDD. roxas never had ven's heart, this is a common misconception. he just grew one of his own, as like the others. also, xion had every intention to destroy roxas, as she clearly stated before engaging him. by destroying roxas, he would become a part of her, giving her an identity. plus, roxas stating he defeated riku is not untrue, because he did. in their first battle before riku embraced his darkness, roxas easily overpowered riku, and thus was defeated. only after riku became ansem was roxas beaten. and finally, sora DID disappear during his fight with roxas, as specifically stated by donald and goofy. the conflict brought them both to sora's heart, meaning he was no longer in the world that never was. donald and goofy were left alone, as they told him after he returned. just for the record. otherwise good video!
Roxas had to have at least part of Ven's heart inside him, because why else would he look like Ventus instead of Sora? All the other Nobodies in the Organization still looked like their Sombody.

AstralMuffin105 vens soul was trashed at the end of BBS the fragments found sora as a child and hid in his heart (this is why sora can use the key blade) hoping to be restored by sora’s light. When sora stabbed himself the nobody was made in vens image because pieces of his heart (vens) reside in sora

this is a nice recap video :) some tips though, in some parts you were speaking pretty fast (probably to keep down the length of the video) but some of the topics would have probably been a little hard to follow for someone who doesn't know the story very well. but overall a nice summary of roxas' story :)

I actually cried for more than 5 minutes because of that scene as I play 2.5, but I guess it was more emotional for me since I played 358/2 days first before KH 2.

In Kh3 the fact Sora wants so much to save Roxas I find this just so freaking cute
I teared up so much during this whole thing. I cried so much during the actual scenes, and to be reminded of the story behind roxas just makes me so sad.

Characters than made me cry (in order) : Xion, Roxas, Axel/Lea, Ventus, Aqua, Riku, Namine and Saix (Sora made me cry only throughout KH1 and Dream Drop Distance in some small flashbacks...)
may get some flak for this, but I honestly think that Roxas is a better character than Sora. His story is so much more immersive and for me pulled a lot more heart strings than Sora's in KH1, also I started with 358/2 days so I may be a lil biased here too haha
+Anthony Hand No flack from here, sir. Roxas was an extremely important character in KH2, and 358/2 Days. Great character choice, and Roxas almost feels like the more aggressive or impulsive half of Sora...if not the source or representation of anger. The KH games don't do a deep dive into emotions as a whole, by means of great amounts of detail, however what is conveyed or presented moves the story along and smooths out the definition of each acting character. Roxas is an undeniably awesome character. :)
