This run showed that the Undertaker still had it in him. He had some great promos, He had some great matches and overall he was one of the best in 2002. What did you think of Undertaker's Heel Run?
When he was the American badass, I lowkey thought it was a debut of a new person. Until I heared JR "ITS THE UNDERTAKER! ITS THE UNDERTAKER!" I got hyped.
I think The Undertaker’s 2002 heel run might be the one of the more underrated heel runs of all time. I thought the WrestleMania X8 storyline with Ric Flair was incredible
We all know why Taker turned heel so HHH would returned as a face. Austin was tired of being a heel. So Taker was the big dog to turn heel at that time
Marricus Beasley Chris Jericho was already a heel and the undisputed champion. Kurt Angle was the first choice to be undisputed but Vince at the last minute chose Y2J
This version of Taker made me a WWE fan. Growing up, my family didn't have cable so the only wrestling I had was WCW Thunder on TBS back in the day. First time I saw an episode of Smackdown, I see a dude riding to the ring to American Badass and fell in love.
@@KingGeeKay I was born and raised in Atlanta where Turner is based out of. It might have cable for yall, but in the 90s, TBS was channel 17 with the antennas for us in ATL. Now TBS is a cable channel and channel 17 is Peachtree TV. Sorry my childhood doesn't check out for you because you were assuming. Hopefully this "fills the holes".
Undertaker's heel run in 2002 was some of his best work, it was almost like he began a whole new second run for himself, once he cut his hair, lost the excessive weight that he had been carrying around for a couple years and got himself in top shape, he started having great matches. His match at Vengeance with RVD was fantastic and him winning the hardcore title was a bit unusual but it really helped cement him as a vicious SOB. His mic work during that era was stellar and he delivered some great promos. The WM18 buildup with Ric Flair was great and their no disqualification match was surprisingly very good. He also won the undisputed title and had two classic back to back matches with Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle in the same week. In my opinion, the big evil era is one of my favourites as it showed that Taker still had a lot in the tank and proved how versatile he was as an in ring performer
I for one, enjoyed his Hardcore title run. Wished it was longer. And loved how he beat Hogan and became Undisputed Champion. And again, I wished his reign was longer. His late 2001-2002 heel run was excellent.
1. Quite possibly the most underrated character for The Undertaker. I'm in the minority of loving "American Bad-Ass" Undertaker. In my opinion, if it wasn't for that character, we would'nt have The Last Ride. But that's just me. 2. Plus, who can forget this savage line: *"I tell you what, why don't say "what" if you like sleeping with your own sister."* 3. (4:15-4:17; 4:58-5:01) *LOL*
I read somewhere that he started using The Last Ride because the Tombstone puts too much pressure on his knees or something. It made sense because he had a gimmick change where he's no longer a deadman but when he became the deadman in Wrestlemania 20 again, he started using the Tombstone again as his main finisher.
Come on man get your facts right. The Undertaker was a fan favorite again when he raised Hardy's hand after the ladder match not when he beat Test at Summerslam 2002
No the hell he wasn’t and I’m surprised you got so many upvotes. Taker was still a heel even after he feuded with Jeff. He was in the middle of a program with Triple at the exact time and Triple H was a babyface. He was a full on heel when he had his feud with the Rock and with Angle at the same time. YOUR facts are the one that are wrong. Taker didn’t start getting cheered consistently again until he turned baby in the summer
Samus Aran nope Taker turned face after his match with Hardy. Middle of a program with HHH? Middle??? Taker just got done feuding with HHH. So YOUR FACTS are dead wrong. Taker turned his attention now to Rock and Angle but most likely Rock. The only heel in this feud is Angle. Taker was already getting cheers in the feud. So therefore you and Wrestling Premier guy needs to get your FACTS right
J Rod13 you’re right about Triple H. I had my timeline screwed up. But he was no babyface. He was feuding with Jeff Hardy on Raw and Kurt Angle and the Rock on Smackdown and that’s FACTS. Taker didn’t have his babyface turn until the night after the Triple Threat. He was still very much a heel, probably bordering on a tweener. Get your FACTS right
I think the storyline reason why Undertaker turned face after this heel run was because he was finally getting the respect he deserved. And not only that he couldn't help but respect Jeff for getting up even after he beat him.
A detector is not right it's pretty people is really full. If I do people stare to B if you're honest Undertaker big favor Undertaker and his big mouth you never listen that's the rule in wrestling wrestling
WrestlingsPremier great work fam. This was one of my favorite WWE runs growing up. Undertaker played the Big Evil heel run to perfection. He was literally WWE's most hated heel, but yet was so popular with the fans. This was one of the best years in Undertaker's career
A lot of don't like the Biker version of The Undertaker. And I agree from 2000-01 I wasn't really that impressed. But when he turned heel and showed an dastardly side to him in the promos and with the short hair, beanie or bandana it just fit well. Not to mention he got back into shape and was a great character as well
Know I said this already, but would also would love to see Randy Orton's Legend Killer run in future videos. Randy became an elite star, household name ,main eventer, and was in his prime as the Legend Killer. Most of his best matches came from that badass run
One of the best heel/character runs ever. 2002 heel Taker is so underrated. He was a badass and fearless heel, and a credible (and not cool) one at that to boot, which is rare.
American Badass/Big Evil is my favorite Undertaker. It was new , it was fresh & a lot of people could relate to the character. The next video needs to be Batista vs Triple H rivalry in 2005 please ❗️❗️
Damn I remember this as a kid, but I didn’t even know the story behind it, just knew Taker was a bad guy. But you told this story awesomely, he gave Jeff respect, and he also gave Cena the same recognition, which eventually helped them both in the long run. Thanks for this video!
I'm being real. I love the American Badass Undertaker. One of my favorite matches from the character is him vs Jeff Hardy on Raw for the WWE Championship
One of his BEST runs. Think about this & the Streak. The Deadman had his streak broken but the American Bad Ass/Big Evil is STILL undefeated at Wrestlemania...
Undertaker as Big Evil should’ve happened after Survivor Series 2001 with Undertaker feeling as though he was the one who carried Team WWF during the Invasion and that he deserves the WWE Undisputed Title.Undertaker and Kane would face off in the Undisputed Title tournament where Undertaker and Kane would destroy each other leading to the two brawling outside of the ring.Jim Ross would interview Undertaker which would lead to Undertaker brutalizing Jim in the backstage area.Undertaker would be reprimanded by Ric Flair who Undertaker would begin taking interest in torturing.Undertaker would target David Flair to get the attention of Ric Flair and Flair would book himself in a match with Taker at the Rumble.Undertaker would brutalize both David and Ric to the fear of Charlotte Flair sitting backstage.Undertaker would enter the Royal Rumble and eliminate over 8 stars in the rumble setting his own record.Ric Flair would promise to shake the WWE fans and shake The Undertaker. The Undertaker would challenge Jericho for the WWE Undisputed Title and Taker would almost win the title until Goldberg returned and cost Taker the match.Undertaker and Goldberg would destroy each other at Mania with Taker getting the win after summoning the DeadMan and delivering a massive TombStone PileDriver.Undertaker and Goldberg would have a rematch at BackLash with this time Goldberg picking up the win after some interference from Ric Flair and David Flair.Undertaker would take interest in the returning Hulk Hogan and challenge him to a match at Judgement Day with Undertaker defeating Hogan in the middle of the ring clean.Undertaker would be placed in a Triple Threat match with Triple H and The Rock with The Rock finally winning the WWE Undisputed Title. The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan would face off at SummerSlam with Undertaker destroying Hogan in the middle of the ring beating him clean. The Undertaker would start a feud with Kurt Angle at Unforgiven where Angle would pick up the win after Hogan’s music played catching the Deadman off guard and allowing Angle to get the win.
Being 8 and 9 during this run, taker was genuinely a menacing heel that you worried might attack your favorite face every week. He destroyed people in this period!
Still sad I missed this time, since I started in middle of 2003. SummerSlam for that matter. Would've loved to seen all of this live when it was airing.
One thing to point out was that Kurt Angle revealed that Maven was having some health issues right before the Royal Rumble and he was doped up on painkillers. Seriously, re-watch that Royal Rumble and Maven was basically wrestling like a drunk man. Even Maven admitted that he was shocked that he didn't miss his dropkick on the Undertaker
To be honest, The Undertaker’s 2002 heel run might be the one of the more underrated heel runs of all time. I thought the WrestleMania X8 storyline with Ric Flair was incredible.
I remember Undertaker beating up David Flair in a bathroom during his feud with Ric and saying "Don't you have a brother? No no. You have a sister don't you" then evilly laughing implying he was going to beat up Ashley the future Charlotte.
This version of Taker is the best version if taker. I honestly love this more than the deadman gimmick. With this gimmick he could talk on the mic and it felt like his feuds were waaaay better.
That triple threat match with the Rock vs Kurt Angle vs Undertaker was the best ever until Shawn Michaels vs Triple H vs Chris Benoit came along at Wrestlemania 20 and best that match.
This run showed that the Undertaker still had it in him. He had some great promos, He had some great matches and overall he was one of the best in 2002. What did you think of Undertaker's Heel Run?

One of his best returns, He came out there and he caused havoc. Made for a great moment in his career.
It was super awesome. I used to tune in every week to see Big Evil will do next. This awesome run plays an huge part in Undertaker's legendary career.

@@wrestlingspremier I think you should do Wrestlemania 14

For some reason, I loved that feud too. It wasn't even long but it's pretty memorable to me.

Agreed
The feud wasn't bad, but the match at Mania was awesome. Probably the most underrated out of Taker's Mania matches. I just love it
Him beating up Ric Flair's son was hilarious imo
We all know why Taker turned heel so HHH would returned as a face. Austin was tired of being a heel. So Taker was the big dog to turn heel at that time
J Rod13 That was awesome because around that time, WWE's biggest heels were Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, and Mr. McMahon
Marricus Beasley Chris Jericho was already a heel and the undisputed champion. Kurt Angle was the first choice to be undisputed but Vince at the last minute chose Y2J
J Rod13 I know that. What I meant was around that time where Undertaker was WWE champ. There was no other hated heels than him, Y2J, Angle, and Vince
Domo Jones Facts because he was so cool and popular
Wggb School of Art piece Called Wanda
His biker era is underrated. The character fit the times and he cut some of the best promos in his career.
Big Evil, Ministry, and his improved in-ring MMA inspired 2009 stuff are my favorite forms of Undertaker.
The like to dislike ratio is amazing ...
You and wrestlingifs will blow up one day

@Domo Jones that was during 2001, I was talking about the RAW before Royal Rumble 2002
They miss out on a "ghost rider" type Undertaker were he had some of the deadman gimmick but kept the bike and a little of the American BA mike work.
He was wild vicious badass heel
