This is the reason why I much prefer watching football than cricket. I'm also a cricket fan and but the 2018 world cup made me love with football and 2022 upsets were the proof that anything can be possible in football. Just because you're a strong team doesn't mean you can win against minnows. Saudi Arabia vs Argentina, Japan vs Germany and Spain, Morroco vs Portugal (Quarterfinals), Brazil vs Cameroon are the biggest upsets in world cup 2022. In cricket it's very rarely seen.

But speaking of t20 world cup it still has a format which is not good after group stage top 2 teams will qualify and will play super 8 it's like passing group stage just to play another group stage it doesn't make sense they could've added quaterfinals like 2011 and 2015 world cup but they choose group stage to increase number of matches, so they can increase length of tournament and make more money.
As a sport I like cricket it is classic game but ICC is ruining it.
ICC always relies on India-Pakistan rivalry to make money.

2) Dead rubber I said because compared to football you have less chance of beating bigger team although as you said in T20 it could happen.There is a reason why football is more popular because it gives chance for every nation to qualify unlike cricket where only associate and non associates play.
3) 8 countries have won FIFA World Cup and 6 countries have won cricket world cup WI, ENG, IND, PAK, SRI, AUS and West Indies is a group of islands not a country so I guess this point is not valid
@@5000guy Croatia isn't a dark horse as such. It's a well established team. If you take FIFA rankings, they are at no. 9 now.
Morocco (2022) and South Korea (2002) reaching semi-finals of FIFA WC is like Afghanistan (2024 T20 WC) and Kenya (2003 ODI WC) reaching cricket World Cup semis. Other than that I can't think of any unusual teams reaching semi-finals or becoming champions in either cricket or football.

And in football darkhorses have actually won the tournaments like France did in 1998 despite being 18th rank defeated prime brazil 3-0 in final and Italy did same thing in 2006 as France were highly favourites and Zidane was in top form.
Even I watch cricket but football is more unpredictable as rankings don't matter here any team can beat any team Saudi Arabia was the lowest ranked country in 2022 world cup yet still they defeated the eventual champions Argentina.
