Did it ! - Easy as pie BUT I had to undo the plastic plus from the inside and attach it to the binnacle before putting it all back in. Impossible to do otherwise but it was very easy and just slipped straight back into place. Thanks for the video.
Most Astra MK4's have a steering wheel rake adjustment, if you lower the steering wheel as low as possible it makes it somewhat easier. Also when removing the actual binnicle if you pull it through the hole at the top of the steering wheel side ways that helps.
That was easy! I had to replace some bulbs in an old Dodge Intrepid a few years ago. had to take half the dashboard apart to get the cluster out. Not fun, but I did it!
I don't mean this in a braggy sense at all, but I've had the MK4 binnacle out so many times you wouldn't believe. It's actually quite easy to get it back in once you get the nack of it - which was 8:30. First time I did it was a struggle - marked my dash up. After that it was so easy. Pull the steering wheel out as far as it goes, knock it down as far as it goes & jobs a good un. Had to do it for converting them to LEDs. For me the best look on the binnacle is a plasma dial mat but not the crappy ones you get off eBay. I had the one off the Xtuners website in mine. Looked great. Love your Astra content. Still miss mine after having had it 12 year.
Yeah even on the first attempt, like anything - getting something out is easy. It's the putting it back together again thing that's always testing. I found once putting it in like you did 8:30, it just sort of fell in to where it should go. Then just lock the latch and jobs a good un. I thought it a decent design. Shame they didn't carry it over to the Corsa C. That Corsa had an awful binnacle design which could result in the entire thing just dying. No needles, no display, no nothing. It'd come & go, come & go. I remember driving about 150 mile on the motorway once with no speedometer at all because it wouldn't come back to life. Had to use the sat nav speed as guide.
Cheers Martin nice one good little video to show how to take the instrument cluster out did look a bit of a pain to put back in. Good tip about the connector. They do go wrong I believe I have heard about it on the astra forum's. 👍
In another video, with the exception of the two orange bulbs at the top and the white one at the bottom and center, the others visible were beige. Here on the contrary they are all orange except the white one. Now, since a different color seems to correspond to a different wattage (beige 1.5W, orange 1.12W) I wonder if it is okay to replace an orange with a beige one (which I ordered already...)... Also, what wattage does the white have?
Hi Martin that was a really good video I have never seen that done before you have a great way with cars and its a credit to you cheers mate. . Kevbo&Jackie
I haven't si big gap between the steering wheel and the console.... so the plastic trim was Very difficult to get out and i scrach a bit .... I don't know why ... Does other astrad have telescopic steering wheel?
Those bulbs you’re changing only light up the dials when the dashboard lights are on, for the indicator bulbs they’ll be tiny smd leds, which requires some careful solidering
Good eve Martin Could you tell me what editing software you use please? I've just brought a gopro and thinking I would like to post a few videos on UA-cam
I think Opel can't do removing dashboard more difficult,i got bmw 325 ix and u remove dashboard approximately for 5 minutes with no issues at all, child can do that

Getting it out was easy, the problem came with trying to locate the connector and lock it in place.

Yes its a common thing Ali, I spent ages trying to plug it in directly but it went in easy when i took that rear plug out and did it that way.

I don't know but when you give your registration number of the vehicle to a parts supplier, the right gearbox will come up for your vehicle.
👍👍👍
