Got the honors of meeting Chuck several times in his hometown of Wentzvile, Missouri in the early 2000's. Once I was in the local bank and I came to meet with a loan officer to discuss a loan, and I had met and briefly talked with Chuck once before in that town. Low and behold, when I stepped back into the bank's loan offices, there he was, kicked back, feet up on the bank managers desk, talking on the bank manager's phone. He jumped up out of his seat and came to me and shook my hand, remembering me from the conversation probably a year and a half earlier. He was a true gentleman and to me a friend. Rest in peace, Chuck Berry, you blessed us all with your music.

The only rock n roll or rockabilly Elvis ever recorded was with Sam Phillips. I switched my allegiance to Jerry Lee Lewis about the time Elvis went into the army. I trust my own response more than I trust anything else (when it comes to rock n roll, that is) and I don't argue with anyone else's. But it is notable to me that Elvis never jammed much with other musicians. He (or somebody) got his band together when he was very young and, as far as I know, the personnel stayed stable. And they stuck together like a clique of self-absorbed high-school boys.
