  • This is watching the retract and extension cycles of a Piper Comanche while monitoring the current draw using a DC clamp-type ammeter. It should be noted that the higher current drain at the end of the retract cycle is due to the gear being pulled tight against the bumper strips in the wheel wells - a normal condition. If your current drain is over the limit of 17.5 amps, find out why.

    Does it normally drain more going up than down? I had my circuit brake snap on my while retracting after take off. My mechanic will see it next week. But I'm trying to educate myself on the proper voltage
