    This is Sooooooo Insane and truly scary!! This will have a ripple effect across many industries. In a short time, it's gotten truly harder to tell real images and videos from AI. I worry how this will make a huge number of people unemployed. This is happening soo fast. I see the advantages and it is truly exciting. But I guess I don't completely understand the scoop of AI and how it pans out and how 'we' all adapt to it.

    No one asks who the artist is when they see things anymore. they ask “what ai made that?” That should tell us all we need to know about the devaluing of artists

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  6 місяців тому

      I do believe that artists will continue to be very relevant. But in a different way. Just as the VFX is the original Star Wars were primarily physical, creating models, puppets, and sets and 25-30 years later for the revised versions it was all about 3D software and 3d VFX and hardly any physical models. Fast forward to today, the cycle of every 25-30 years having to deal with and digest a new set of technology is here. And yet, artists still remain, just in a different way...

    Strap in, we havent even begun to scratch the surface. More refined generative AI, predictive AI which is coming fast and general AI will happen faster than we think and will literally replace whole swaths of previously untouchable jobs. It's exciting and scary. I am afraid it will make every specialized job obsolete.

      I agree with you. Just as compters in the 80-90s. Everyone was freaking out and it turned out to be so much lore efficient. The same here. Some jobs will die. Others will be created. But everything will be touched and changed, one way or another. It is exciting times for sure! Wait when robotics start to enter the market in 5-10 years time. That will be the big shock! This I feel is just the starter! But it is definitely exciting and scary at the same time.

  • @BeginningsAndPaths

    Good points, Samuel. But I'm not afraid of the artificial intelligence. I'm more afraid of the natural stupidity. Jokes aside, I don't think that everything will be so dark. I feel as today the film industry regurgitate more and more dumb movies. There's no more Buñuel and Almodovar, no Godard or Melville, no Bertolucci, Antonioni, Fellini, Visconti... without being an expert at all, I find that the last of their kind is Sorentino. What we have today? Star Wars soap opera and other Marvels. I don't deny them and their right of existence by any means and I don't mean to offend anyone who likes these films, but I don't think that some AI will make such a difference. Yes, the big companies could fire many artists in their field to produce even more garbage with less expenses. But those artists and creators (and I mean not only the actors but also everyone involved in the industry like editors, sound designers etc.) love to do what they are doing and most of them like to work with other artists and creators, and with humans in general. So, they could gather together to do what they love to do and, very likely, without the agenda of the big companies, they'll start making better films even as indies, with less money, but better. And very soon we all will find that there was a very big gap amongst the people for a really good art. After all, Photoshop exist for around 15 year already and although everyone can start making photos from scratch without having a camera and sell them, the photography and the photographers are still around, alive and kicking.
    Have you been in - let's say - Stephansdom, the main and biggest cathedral in Vienna? Could you tell what the third statue from the fourth column on the left row holds in his hands? Could you say haw many figures are there on the left side of the altar? Do you think that if you have to shoot a Coca-Cola ad of a bishop drinking a Coke lying on the altar in that cathedral you could gather enough pictures and videos of every single and smallest detail of the interior of the cathedral and to describe all that decently in order to create the needed prompt for Sora to create that ad? If you decide to do such thing, you'll find that it will be much, much easier to take the necessary gear, to get a crew and go shoot that ad by yourself.
    The only potential problem is with the political (and economical) propaganda - I totally agree with you on that. But it is also a matter of one's critical thinking and to check the infos. The problem though is that a big part of the people react emotionally and don't check (and think) before accepting any information. That's why I'm more afraid of the natural stupidity than of the artificial intelligence.
    ~Philip

      I agree with you 100% and I do believe I make similar points, although with less wording and probably less specific. But yes, AI is too generic and for specific content you still need and will always need people to do the work. And I do believe AI will raise the quality of the content created and not kill it. But it will also push, over time, many (mundane) jobs that graphics and vfx artists do into oblivion, Time will tell though. For creative people it will be absolutely amazing, I do believe that. Advertising agencies will love it because they will be able to conceptualise and create images for clients that look the part, at a fraction. Not only the film industry is gonna be impacted. To what extent, it all depends on the pace of development. Personally, like you, I am not worried, if anything I am looking forward to it, but like you, I worry more about the safety and security implications. Let’s hope they build some safety or security into it. What and how, I’ve no clue, but what I know is that people will abuse it and try bad things with it, it is in human nature. That really scares me. But you have very, very valid points!!

    Sora doesn’t generate videos in minutes. It’s been confirmed that it takes several minutes possibly hours to generate a video and that’s with it unreleased. If a thousand users ask it to make a video at the same time it will take awhile to complete their requests

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  7 місяців тому

      I think movie stars will always be movie stars. I just hope people can tell the difference between a human movie star and an AI movie stars. Maybe movies with AI characters need to be classified differently, specifically if the character is not a background one or an extra, but a main or supporting “actor”. Everyone will have to adjust to this new technology, even the classification boards for movies and TV and what is classed as a movie made with and by humans, and another one where everything is AI. Lots to get our heads around. I love a good challenge!

      @@SamuelSotiega brother I was just thinking all the big Players of the industry won’t let any technology take their places. Like assuming the case Tom Holland and his generation of actors 20 years down the line they will be old and respected by the audience because they are real but yeah this AI thing will be like new Tik Tok for people. I bet this will obviously make VFX easy like if before we use to take 6 months with high VFX maybe in future it will take less. Again it’s kind of Good and Kind of Bad. So.
    In a few years / months....
    An entire movie making company will exist of 2 people.
    Even worse.
    The algorithm AI will tell the owner the vast public wants to see a particular type of movie.
    So instead of humans making mucus that humans wants to see the AI will come up movies.

    I see so many videos arguing why AI won't affect their profession and just pointing out all the flaws. All those people will be left behind. AI wont stop and will only get better. First movers on new tech reap the rewards. Look at what happened when digital cameras came out or when CGI exploded.
    One mistake I think many are making though is assuming Sora will be available to everyone. I really think, at least for a few years, it will be invite only or maybe access to corporations for millions in fees. The energy consumption and server usage would be too overwhelming if everyone had access. Also OpenAI is for profit now with VCs involved. They were a much different company when they dropped Chat GPT to the public.

    • @SamuelSotiega
      @SamuelSotiega  7 місяців тому

      I agree with you that won’t be the free service people enjoy with chatGPT. I don’t even know if they will release it to the public in the way any product or service is. There are a lot of safety protections that need to be in place. You can start a world war if you release a short video at the wrong time, you know what I mean. You can tamper with the stock market. With that technology, there are so many things that someone with a hidden agenda could do. That is what is so scary. For filmmakers and creatives, I can imagine this to be a paid only service that you need to apply and they need to grant you access. And possibly with a vetting process before you export. I don’t know what but something in place so what you export is entertainment content/ video only and it is not going to cause the fall of a government or the bankruptcy of a bank, etc… This tech is too crazy to just let it be used willy nilly by the average dude… In my opinion….
