I wasn't giving this story much credence until they mentioned the U-Boat Skipper dying of unknown causes in 1919. Maybe the boat really was attacked by a sea monster & Germany didn't want the captain spreading that around.
No U-Boat commander will ever risk the life of his crew and his vessel for a heater and for a few cables and that too during war time. Th engineers in the U-Boat would never allow it. Had the captain installed the heater he would be court-martialed and punished. Nothing happened. In other words, this story has been cooked up. On the other hand the monster story is more realistic. The north Atlantic and especially the seas around Scotland are very stormy. Only pirates who were familiar with the area operated here. But it is a safe haven for monsters and deep sea creatures. A curious plesiosaurus or mausosaurus would have ventured to investigate the U-Boat. The crew gave it a hostile reception and the monster did what it had to do. In the immense ocean, anything can suddenly materialize for a brief moment and then vanish without a trace. Demanding evidence is impractical and unwarranted. Many similar incidents have happened in the high seas. People who have witnessed these strange sightings prefer to remain silent rather than lose their jobs. Please read Lord Tennyson''s poem, ''The Kraken''.

Why do people keep seeing Lake Monster's such as Bessie/ Champy/Olgopolgo/Nessie/Sea Dragon's, even Kraken's a specific species I feel of massive prehistoric size Squid. If anyone ever got their hand's on Old King James Bible with dedication to King James his Majesty King of Britain/France/& Ireland that wasn't altered in 1885, like the other King James Bible's were the Text mentions the following Beast. 1. Behemoth 2. Cockitrice 3. Dragon/Water Dragon 4. Fiery Serpent 5. Flying Serpent 6. Leviathan 7. Rahab's Okay so Behemoth's are mentioned in The Bible in Job ch.40:15 Job lived in The Genesis & Jubilees Timeline, after, The Great Flood/ The Tower of Babel, He lived in The Time of Abraham occurring at the same Time. Now unofficially the reason I say Behemoth was in the Bible twice is due too A Biblical Book in 1885 American Bible Society removed on account They believed The Sacred Text wasn't Divine Inspired Truth too which, I disagree with. The Book's of Enoch- Enoch 1: The Book of The Watcher's which is in The Ethiopian Orthodox Bible older than Gutenberg, Martin Luther the Swiss Reformer & King James Bible! Enoch 2: The Book of the Secret's of Enoch. Enoch 3: The Book of The Giant's. Finally The Book of Jubilees Scribed by Moses! Behemoth is mentioned in Enoch 1 The Book of The Watcher's & The Leviathan accordingly God set Behemoth too Rule the 🏜 Desert, while, Leviathan she was too Rule The Fathom's of the Abyss. So Behemoth is made known twice in The Bible. The Cockitrice is mentioned 5 Time's in Old Testament. So ah in 1885 The Old King James Bible in the same language since 1611; was changed and all passages with these Beast Name's in Scripture was removed! Fiery Serpent's in Old King James Testament 5 Time's. Flying Serpent 2 time's in Old Testament. The Leviathan is mentioned 5 Time's in Old Testament. Rahab's in Isaiah & Psalm's. Just cause science said it's extinct doesn't mean that they were Yet, especially down in The Depth's of The Ocean/& Sea best guess scenario, the chaos of The War with the bombing's from Naval Battle's U-Boat's sinking Naval Vessel's. Not worth it. The "haunting" goes back to a journalist from Austria who wrote about it in the 90s, Viktor Farkas was his name. He made that whole story up. EDIT: btw, the correct designation is not "UB-65" but "SM U 65" (Seiner Majestät Unterseeboot 65). Our U-boats just have the callsign "U", because "Unterseeboot" is one word, and "U-Boot" is just the shortened version / military-slang. ("UB"-series was developed as small single-hull-class for coastal waters, but later became a "full size" submarine with two hulls. They kept the designation "UB" for ...reasons (?) ) So SM U 65 and SM UB 65 are two DIFFERENT ships and I had to research it all again :) ...and I guess that's HOW the "mystery" started: the data of both submarines seem to have gotten mixed up. Here is what I found: Official data of SM U 65, taken from historical german sources: - launched 21st of March 1916 (Baunummer/number 249) in Kiel (not Belgium as stated by Farkas), Germaniawerft - entered service at May 11th 1916 - commanders: -Hermann von Fischel (May 1916 - July 1918), Kapitänleutnant -Gustav Siess (August - September 1918), Kapitänleutnant (not to be confused with Gustav Sieß, commander of U 73 and U 33) -Clemens Wickel (September - October 1918), Kapitänleutnant - part of IV. U-Boot-Flottille till November 1916 (North Sea), later part of U-Flottille Mittelmeer (Mediterranean Sea) - participated in 11 operations/missions with a total of 48 ships (77.715 BRT/tons) of other nations sunk, including "Athos" (France) and "Caledonia" (Great Britain) - Selbstversenkung (self-sinking) 29th of October 1918 to avoid being captured by enemy near the coast of Croatia, no casualties among the crew Official data of SM UB 65, taken from same sources as mentioned above: - launched 26th of July 1917 (number unknown) in Hamburg (still not Belgium), AG Vulcan Stettin Werft - entered service at August 18th 1917 - commander: -Martin Schelle, Kapitänleutnant - part of V. U-Boot-Flottille till April 1918, later part of II. U-Boot-Flottille till July 1918 - participated in 6 operations/missions with a total of 9 ships (22.461 BRT/tons) of other nations sunk including "Arbutus" (Great Britain) and "Maria Jose" (Portugal). - Auf See vermisst (MIA at sea) until 2003 (after Farkas already had written his book); found near Cornwall, GB, crew of 34 assumed dead The fact that UB 65 had only one commander throughout its time of service, but U 65 had three might be the key to the origin of the ghost story. Both submarines had no casualties among officers and there are no clues about "unusual high numbers of" casualties among the crew either prior to their sinking. The officers on U 65 changed due to normal causes, promotions, health reasons, etc.; but UB 65 indeed was lost in an accident (assumed). I believe the changes in command of U 65 have been assigned to UB 65, due to confusion between the two different classes. The "Maria Jose" for example was sunk by UB 65 4 days AFTER UB 65 allegedly was sunk by an exploding torpedo onboard, so this part of the story is made up, too. Truth is we don't know what exactly happened to UB 65, but it never had a change of command. We also know exactly what happened to U 65 and it had 3 changes of command. Mix up both facts and you'll get an excellent ghost story...
@Zah Gurim While I don't have the time now, I'd be curious to see what info is on the condition of the wreck. Given the age though, I'm not sure if much could be told. . .
I had a feeling there would be some evidence to cast suspicion on this whole story. Whether those crew members were telling the truth remains to be seen, but I feel it's more likely that an unremarkable captain messed up and told a lie to cover himself, than a giant animal attacking the submarine.
I feel like that would be an even bigger disgrace. It sounds like a dog ate my homework.
Okay so Behemoth's are mentioned in The Bible in Job ch.40:15 Job lived in The Genesis & Jubilees Timeline, after, The Great Flood/ The Tower of Babel, He lived in The Time of Abraham occurring at the same Time.
Now unofficially the reason I say Behemoth was in the Bible twice is due too A Biblical Book in 1885 American Bible Society removed on account They believed The Sacred Text wasn't Divine Inspired Truth too which, I disagree with.

Enoch 1: The Book of The Watcher's which is in The Ethiopian Orthodox Bible older than Gutenberg, Martin Luther the Swiss Reformer & King James Bible!
If that doesn't help Daniel Webster's Dictionary in 1948, had the definition for Dragon as "Very Rare".
Just cause science said it's extinct doesn't mean that they were Yet, especially down in The Depth's of The Ocean/& Sea best guess scenario, the chaos of The War with the bombing's from Naval Battle's U-Boat's sinking Naval Vessel's.

The Haunting of UB-65. Another great WW1 Submarine story. Last diver who tried to get to it in 2019 died getting near it. Creepy stuff, check it out.
I'll check it out. Thanks for watching
Not worth it. The "haunting" goes back to a journalist from Austria who wrote about it in the 90s, Viktor Farkas was his name. He made that whole story up.
EDIT:
btw, the correct designation is not "UB-65" but "SM U 65" (Seiner Majestät Unterseeboot 65). Our U-boats just have the callsign "U", because "Unterseeboot" is one word, and "U-Boot" is just the shortened version / military-slang.
EDIT 2: ... there have been both designations, "U" and "UB", although I have no idea what the "B" refers to. "UG"-class also was planned.
@@zahgurim7838 Thanks for the information. It's too bad, I was really liking the story. The fact that a diver actually died not long ago trying to reach the wreck only added a level of morbidity to it.
@@jamiemerian9736 I was not aware of the diver, but I guess that more likely happened due to the dangers of wreck diving and has nothing to do with any kind of "curse".
Well, to my surprise (while doing more research on the topic) I found out that I was WRONG: there were indeed TWO classes of submarines in service of the Reichsmarine with SAME numbers, and one class actually HAD the designation "UB".
("UB"-series was developed as small single-hull-class for coastal waters, but later became a "full size" submarine with two hulls. They kept the designation "UB" for ...reasons (?) )
So SM U 65 and SM UB 65 are two DIFFERENT ships and I had to research it all again :)
...and I guess that's HOW the "mystery" started: the data of both submarines seem to have gotten mixed up.
Here is what I found:
Official data of SM U 65, taken from historical german sources:
- launched 21st of March 1916 (Baunummer/number 249) in Kiel (not Belgium as stated by Farkas), Germaniawerft
- entered service at May 11th 1916
- commanders: -Hermann von Fischel (May 1916 - July 1918), Kapitänleutnant
-Gustav Siess (August - September 1918), Kapitänleutnant
(not to be confused with Gustav Sieß, commander of U 73 and U 33)
-Clemens Wickel (September - October 1918), Kapitänleutnant
- part of IV. U-Boot-Flottille till November 1916 (North Sea), later part of U-Flottille Mittelmeer (Mediterranean Sea)
- participated in 11 operations/missions with a total of 48 ships (77.715 BRT/tons) of other nations sunk, including "Athos" (France) and "Caledonia" (Great Britain)
- Selbstversenkung (self-sinking) 29th of October 1918 to avoid being captured by enemy near the coast of Croatia, no casualties among the crew
Official data of SM UB 65, taken from same sources as mentioned above:
- launched 26th of July 1917 (number unknown) in Hamburg (still not Belgium), AG Vulcan Stettin Werft
- entered service at August 18th 1917
- commander: -Martin Schelle, Kapitänleutnant
- part of V. U-Boot-Flottille till April 1918, later part of II. U-Boot-Flottille till July 1918
- participated in 6 operations/missions with a total of 9 ships (22.461 BRT/tons) of other nations sunk including "Arbutus" (Great Britain) and "Maria Jose" (Portugal).
- Auf See vermisst (MIA at sea) until 2003 (after Farkas already had written his book); found near Cornwall, GB, crew of 34 assumed dead
The fact that UB 65 had only one commander throughout its time of service, but U 65 had three might be the key to the origin of the ghost story.

Thanks for watching

I mean- at war at that time in the military for anyone- would you dare to say something so stupid to your commanding officers? I’d think it would be far more acceptable to point fingers at an enemy ship than a monster at sea.
@@RogueT-Rex8468either that or we accidentally hit a mine underwater.
@@RogueT-Rex8468 funny thing is my actual dog would eat someones homework haha bloody samoyeds eat everything.
@@MikinGarage lol. Fair. But the idiom stands. It makes absolutely no sense for any officer of any rank to bold faced tell such a wild tale to their superiors unless those same superiors happened to be that superstitious. But you’d have to know them well for that.
Dude, wtf is up with the audio?? Stereo is a thing.
Noted, our newer videos are fixed
Our oceans are so vast we have no idea what lurks beneath the waves
Indeed.
Time 73 and I remember that I remember that it was in the newspaper also some of the metal plates bent or partially crushed giant squid
i could be wrong but wasn’t this incident used in kong skull island for fake history about the Titans.
The underwater reptile used in the video is Liopleurodon, mososauris had a longer rail and sleeker body. But I like how he used the footage of liopluredon from an old TV show I used to watch as a kid. Great memories
Thanks for watching.
Walking With Dinosaurs
Mr Roper from Three’s Company??
A little humor
You told that story very well. I was thinking for most of the video, wondering if they'd maybe encountered a salt water Crocodile since they're pretty huge...then the conclusion of what actually happened caught me by surprise. Thanks for the video :)
Thanks for watching
Salt water crocodiles have never been that big and have never been found that far out to see
@@kylieknight2365they’ve swam to the US from the AU. But I’d think the waters in the North Sea would be way too cold for them.
What he didn't mention was they found no traces of the story before 2005 on the internet

That damn Yankee , told a lie .😂
i love hearing you on my left ear
its wonderfull
I'm not sure what you mean, but thanks for watching.
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL My headset also only had your audio coming in on the left ear, nothing on the right
@@FORGOTTENHISTORYCHANNEL Same for me too
What your right ear virgin?
Wow. Not surprising the arrogance of officer's.
Thank you sir,
I was in the Rhodesian Army for 7 years, 4 years infantry - 3 years Sappers..
Thanks for your service and thanks for watching.
Rhodesian? Man, that was many moons ago!
Thanks for your service.
it was a giant squid. it must have mistook the u-boat for a sperm whale which they attack.
Loved the use of the photo of "Mr. Roper" from "Three's Company" when referencing Peter Roper. Very interesting anecdote from "The Great War."
LOL, good catch
@5:50 RIP Mr Roper 🙏
LOL, found the Easter Egg!
Lot of space down there. One of these days some dragger will net one of these things and we will put an end to this speculation
please upgrade your microphone It's really hard to listen and focus on the speaking because it's one eared
Noted, thanks
Damn, great video! I never heard of the fate of U85 before and she sank within view of where I live! The only sea monsters in those waters these days are Royal Navy nuclear subs heading to Faslane and possibly some lurking Russian subs too.
Thanks for watching.
What is the Bloop?
i looked it up and nothing about sea monsters are mentioned. it just got destroyed.
Sea dragons did exist and there might be some that survived the flood so there are sea monsters in our oceans today but leviathan is alive on Google earth there is a titan sixe sea serpent but that has wings it is alive.
Thank you very much for your service to our country sir
Thank you!
