If a NEIGHBOR gave me a 400 dollar gift card, which I WAS TOLD was supposed to be 100 dollars, I would give back the money. It was clearly a mistake and I wouldn't take advantage of a 300 dollar mix up. A friend would say, "Oh my gosh, I'll give you back the gift card and you can give me the correct one". The Defendant is not a nice person.

True but it’s super weird that she didn’t tell her about the mistake. Like if someone told me I was getting the 100 dollar gift card I would believe it’s 100 dollars until I spent like 150 bucks. It’s just odd not to bring it up.

I might call if I think I’m about to run out but there’s no chance I’d call to verify before I first used it.
I’m not saying the defendant isn’t scummy, she obviously figured out she had the wrong card at some point. But at what point I don’t know, it’s super weird of the plaintiff to discover the mistake she made presumably ahead of the defendant spending the full total and say absolutely nothing about it.
If someone gave me a gift card and said “Hey I got you a $100 gift card to *insert store*” and I went to said store and saw that it had a balance of $400. I would immediately call up my friend and say “Hey, did you mean to give me $400 or $100?”
I would never think to take advantage of a mixup and risk losing a 9 year friendship.

I don’t know about that. I’m nothing like I was in my 30’s. My family members are nothing like they were in their 30’s. I think it’s an individual thing, and we each have control over it if we make the right choices in life.

Here is a prime example why it’s a good idea to use discernment when you’re becoming buddy buddy with random people. Not everyone is meant to hold that position in your life.
It's never worth breaking up a good friendship over money.
I recently did a friend a huge favour and they insisted on paying me. Above my (repeated) protests that I did not want any sort of payment, they absolutely insisted to the point where I was feeling a bit uncomfortable. So I graciously accepted the money and took them for a fancy meal with it the following evening. Big smiles all around. Don't let money get in the way of your friendships - it's not worth it.

My husband’s sister bought us the most expensive item on our weddding registry, she then gave us an Amazon gift card for 200.00. I immediately called her and asked if she was sure, because that is incredibly generous, she said it was ok. I was ready to give it back if it was a mistake. That’s the difference between right and wrong.
Today I am grateful for Judge Judy, and that my neighbors, although they kind of suck, aren't bat**** crazy people like what you see on Judge Judy.

Honestly, personally, I would have asked my friend if they did a mistake if they told me beforehand that they were giving me a $100 and ended up getting $400 instead. On the other hand, if the plaintiff knew still had the $100 card and couldn't find the $400 one, then she should have said something, that's indeed her bad 🤷🏿♂️
One time my parents sent my sister some money. They meant to send like $100 but they sent a thousand on accident. She spent it all before they could get it back😂😂 I’m too honest bc I’d be like, did you mean to send all this??!!

Deals are frequently offered. E.g., during holiday season, one store near me annually offers $60 cards for $50. Many stores/restaurants are currently offering big deals, such as $100 gc with free $20 card.
Costco offered a lot of gift cards at a discount. Makes sense to do it to save money.

Defendant has that attitude face, is straight on the defensive and answers before either allowing the judge to finish the question, or actually listing to what is being said… she thinks to slowly and shouldn’t engage the mouth until the mind is able to respond correctly

Plaintiff is a mess, suing over a gift card, plus before that, was loaning her friend money every month, and she paid those loans back. But suing about gift card, that is low.
The lady who bought the gift cards is the one in the wrong. How could her friend know that she still had an extra gift card and had given her the wrong one. Then she punishes her friend for her mistake by refusing to loan her any money at all even though she had always paid it back.

I will feel bad if I'm wrong... but I'm from the city and there were some clues throughout the clip. I have a suspicion that she bought the gift cards from boosters (organized rings of people who essentially steal from stores, convert what they stole into store credit, and sell the gift cards at a discount).
