Clear video, nice job comparing the ratios.

I'm now running 10/42, far better in my opinion. I actually think they come with a 39 purely down to physical size and clutch riding is now commonplace.

I have a 23txt 250 gp and changed the gearing as well. I was coming from the beta and the txt felt very high. I just dropped the front sprocket a tooth and it has been a great change. I also find the power of the 250 more linear now and more comparative to the beta 300 I have.

How is the angle and chain wrap near the front sprocket clip? I looked into it, as can be seen in the calculations, but ultimately decided 10t was already on the small side and changed the rear sprocket.

@@RC-Engineering I was a bit worried about that but the Sherco 125 I have has 9/42 gearing so I figured a 9 tooth front sprocket would work. It's a tighter angle, but no issues clearing anything. It was a quick change out.

      Great info, thanks for sharing!

Just so you know, most people in Spain directly switch the 10tooth standard front sprocket for a 9tooth, specially for section riding. Myself included. No problems whatsoever✌🏼

Are you still happy with the gearing. How is the bike running down low ie pilot jet

I picked a bit of crud in the carb and the bike started running weird at low revs. As it was a hot day, I was wondering if the pilot was too lean and switched back to the factory 45 jet, but that wasn't it and i just cleaned out the carb to get everything back to normal. I left in th 45 and honestly can't really tell the difference now. Starting is similar with both.

I have the same bike as you and right after I got it I went to do some trail riding and found out that the bike could easily get away from me with just the slightest throttle change. I was coming down a trail and my hand slipped and opened the throttle and threw me off the bike breaking 6 ribs, my clavicle, punctured my lung and split a six inch full depth gash in my knee. Since then I’ve put on the flywheel weight and the head spacer which helped some but it’s still too quick in 1st when I just want to basically idle slowly around obstacles. My old Yamaha TY 250 was very much smoother. Are you happy with your 10/42 gearing now or do you still want to go lower, maybe to a 9/42? Thanks!😊

      That's a nasty fall!
I have a flywheel weight and low compression head on the way, but I've been very happy with the gearing since changing it. I don't think it needs to be lower than the 10/42 now. What I've found is my clutch control has improved and I can easily control the low speed now with the 10/42.
The goal with the low compression head is easier starting and smoother running with our lower octane fuel here in Canada.

Compared to you, I got off lightly. Only 8 internal sutures and 19 external on my left thigh. Hope you are all healed up

Why don't you just use all master links? Or buy a chain breaker.

    • @RC-Engineering

I used the existing master link and added another, but also need an inner link to connect them. I could have used a chain breaker on the link and a half I bought for the I net link, but I had an inner link on hand.
